How did they track down the suspects . Reporter it was a combination of help from the community, Gps Technology and good police work. All of those things combined helped them track down these alleged killers and now just 48 hours after the killing, three suspects are behind bars. It was clear to us based on the information that we were provided that these individuals are those responsible for the murder of mr. Carter on monday night. Reporter marin county sheriffs investigators say theyve arrested the trio they say shot and killed 67yearold steve carter as he hiked on a marin county trail. With the help of Gps Technology, they tracked them down to portland, oregon, this afternoon, in the car belonging to carter. All three suspects were arrested without incident outside a Community Dining hall in the city of portland, oregon. Reporter investigators say thanks to numerous tips, photos and Surveillance Video taken by a alert citizens, they were able to trace the activities of the trio. So far, they know little about them. We dont know what the motivation was, how it is these people came to be in the same place as mr. Carter. We dont know that. Reporter tonight on the trail where carter was gunned down, a shrine has been put up by his wife. Shes battling breast cancer, she wrote on a go fund me website, shes shattered, shocked, enraged and so, so sad. Very cruel blow to a woman who found out she has cancer and has a wonderful husband supporting her. Reporter tonight theres a huge sense of relief the alleged killers are off the streets. We know that the three people responsible for this homicide are now in custody. Reporter i talked to a friend of carters on the telephone a short time ago. She says the arrest will not bring back her friend. But at least she says the suspects wont be able to hurt anybody else. We know little about the suspects at this point. We dont know their identities or where theyre from. Were hoping to get that information tonight. Theyre expected to be returned back here to marin county in the next day or two. It happened in an east oakland neighborhood. He was killed driving his Ice Cream Truck. Police still dont know why, though. Theres a 10,000 reward for anyone to help police catch the shooter. A developing story out of San Francisco where a man dangling out of a window triggered delays. This is a few blocks from 101. Started when he tried to stop a driver. The driver got out and started running. The man eventually scaled the threestory building at tenth and harrison. Hes been dangling out of a window ever since. Police are trying to track him down. Reporter a Spokesman Says the city agreed to spend 40 million from construction fees and taxes on a traffic plan to increase and enhance light rail, close off these streets selected on gamedays for the exclusive use of hospital employees, patients and local businesses. They will also post a couple of dozen Traffic Control officers. The city is committing to 10 million every year from the warriors revenues to enhance and improve mass transit. Central subway is set to open in 2018. The warriors arena, the same year it will open. Reporter it will increase traffic and it should and can be managed. Traffic in San Francisco is bad now. Its hard to see how it will get better with an 18,000 seat stadium coming in. The warriors argue more cars are coming no matter what. The local neighborhood is growing. She and her son Christian Hunter shepherd knew the man that was arrested in berkeley. That suspect is identified as 24yearold anthony durant. In a stunning twist, police say hes the same man they arrested in connection with a different shooting in june of last year. But they dont have details on why he was back out. We believe this is the main person responsible for the shooting. We are still investigating to make sure that we have looked into every avenue regarding the shooting. But we arent looking for outstanding suspects. Long was a decon at a local baptist church. They dont think the act was random. On monday, the woman was found dead inside a home on monday zahn owe street in milpitas. She was stabbed multiple times. He was arrested yesterday. A pile of debris that was making people sick should have never been dumped there. Tonight the city of san carlos tell us it was a misunderstanding. Leers that debris under that blue tarp. Its a combination of trench dirt and cement pipes that comes from a sewer replacement project. The contractor mistakenly stored the pile on a property near downtown san carlos last week. This is now picking up speed, getting caught up in the upper level flow but the highly interesting thing about this storm system is not only that its a category 2 in the pacific. El nino related with the warm waters out here. But the path, look at this. It holds up offshore of california as we head throughout thursdays forecast. Not expecting any u. S. Landfall, but British Columbia actually could get some gusty winds by friday and definitely rainfall from this storm system.
