Tonight San Jose Police and the feds are chasing a paper trail in the hope of finding the people who ran nearly a dozen illegal gambling operations raided last night in san jose. An it is a good example of why police and Community Leaders say illegal gambling is a misleadingly complex and dangerous problem. The golden king cafe is one of the 11 vietnamese businesses raided. Weve had shootings, stabbings and a homicide that we have linked back to this type of activity. Reporter police and the fbi led an multiagency sweep that seized about 125,000 in cash. Dozens of people were questioned. Police say investigators are still trying to track down owners who often cover up the paper trail. The Business Owners are the ones who put the machines in there. We do believe that there are game gang ties to some of the activity. How widespread that is we dont know yet. In the east bay, the city of albany is dealing with the first murder in three years. Investigators are searching for someone who killed a dental student. 37yearold student was found on the floor of her east bay apartment monday. A relative went to check on her when she missed several appointments. She is from india and among 24 foreign trained dentists as part of an international program. Police at this point saying very little. Theres been no arrest or word on how she died. Well did you notice what happened to apple today . A warning tonight for parents and pet owners. A bat found dead near 880 last week has tested positive for rabies. A good number of people in that area may have been exposed to this bat with the rabies. Reporter yes, jessica. This is definitely a busy area. A lot of afterschool programs are offered here at the Community Center and theres a playground soccer field, and Public Library close by. Nearly a full day went by before the infected bat was taken away. The rabid bat was found here near the the entrance to the irving Community Center on the evening of march 6th. Police didnt pick up the animal until 2 00 p. M. The next day. Giving ample opportunity for pets or kids to touch it. Officials warn that people often see the struggle and want to help. Something they should not do. Rabies is transmitted to people by saliva or certainly nerve tissue or anything like that. So the biggest concern is if someone was at the Community Center and touched that bat or had a pet or child that may have played with the bat. The bat may have resystemembled this one, common to the area. Rabies symptoms will develop up to three months after. They will go into a coma. It can be very severe once the symptoms start. Reporter as of today no notices have been put up at the Community Center warning parents and pet owners. Anyone who may have been exposed to the sick animal last week near the Community Center is being urged to contact their doctor for treatment. If left untreated, rabies can be fatal. Animal control says at least a couple of bats test positive for rabies every year in alameda county. Live in fremont nannette miranda, nbc bay area news. And a mother blamed in the death of her 3weekold baby. Today she made her first court appearance. This is 23yearold samantha green, who is charged with voluntary manslaughter of her infant son. But now investigators are going to change that charge to murder. Her son, Justice Reese was found in a marshy area last month. An autopsy concluded he died from drowning or hypothermia. Prosecutors arent say what evidence in the case prompted them to seek the murder charge against that mother. San jose Police Need Help catching a man who robbed and beat someone inside of a home.
