About 200 people attended in the meeting today that starred with public comment, with some replaying stories about feeling scared for their personal safety and police tactics. On the city website, it said they would address the their response to what occurred in ferguson, missouri here locally and what beyond and what steps the council could take. Some in the crowd carried signs very familiar like black lives matter. The police chief listened and did say that demonstration management can be complicated. I think demonstration management is always complicated. We have a number of interests were trying to address. One is we need to keep our Police Officers safe and not be hit with bricks and rocks like happened. We also have is people that were criminal. If they assaulted other protesters and there to commit violence, most of those coming from outside of berkeley. We also have Peaceful Protesters who have a right to protest. Now, the police chief did go on to say peaceful discussions can only help. He also mentioned that theyre working on a post incident review. He wanted it to be thorough and comprehensive.
