Reporter they need to get there during commute hours, even if they are driving alone and want to get there fast. Express lanes like on 237 allow solo drivers to pay to get into the carpool lane. Everyone is benefitting because were allowing solo drivers into the express lane. It relieves the amount of cars. Reporter its clear, people are increasingly using the express lanes in santa clara county. This is a function really of a rebounding economy. Weve got more people going to work, and more people going to work means there are more people driving. This is, as they say, a good problem to have. Reporter there are about 3,000 first time feme fast trac users in the expressway at highway 237 and 880 and up to 14,000 people use it every day. In fact, its become so popular that now sometimes it has to be closed to solo drivers, even if they are willing to pay. When the traffic speed hits 45 Miles Per Hour or under, the drivers are no longer allowed to use the lanes. A flashing sign will let you know when that happens. The spokesperson says in the next few years, expect more of these hot lanes. There are plans to actually look at even extending these express lanes further north and west so that we can extend the amount of time that an individual can be on the express lanes from 880 to 238. In fact, one of the findings released today that that the University President himself was in the dark for an entire month about this investigation. But the report also found that University Staff for the most part did follow procedures. It was in this dorm that several white students wrapped a ushaped bike lock on a black students neck and taunted him with racial slurs. At least three were arrested on hate crimes and battery charges. An independent lawyer had a factfinding report. The report found the university for the most part followed University Procedures and policies. I think if the university claims all procedures were followed, i feel the procedures are poor. Reporter it found while the alleged bullying was going on for months, one reason it took so long to come to light is because a task force didnt review it. They will review the report and make recommendations for change. One of the issues well look at is environment on the campus and to see if there is anything that can be done to encourage individuals who are the subject of this kind of abuse or alleged abuse in this case, that could enable them to come forward. Police believe the pair is responsible from stealing mail from other neighborhoods in the south bay but not connected to the lake theft since they were arrested the day before those thefts occurred.
