Well, the Fremont Police department wants to blanket the city in surveillance cameras like the one you see on the light pole. Tonight theyre going to ask the city council to put the first give them the money to put the first 20 in low to moderate income neighborhoods. First as you mentioned largely because of a technicality related to the money. This was busted by Fremont Police in large part because of private surveillance cameras in one fremont neighborhood. Folks pitched in 50 per household to put the cameras up themselves. Tonight, the Fremont Police department will ask the city council to fund 20 cameras like this one on Central Avenue using 160,000 in federal funds. The intention is not to invade the privacy of our community, but to provide a Safe Community for the residents and for the people who work and live in our community. Myleen who rallied her neighbor says she doesnt mind that other neighborhoods get them for free if her neighbors still get the same police coverage. I guess the goal is to make fremont safe. A quarter of a million dollars, San Carlos City council decided last night to spend that money to look into whether pg e gas pipeline running under the city is really safe.
