Again, no word on how long it may take to make a positive identification. Cokes family is not commenting at this point. But a coworker says as horrible as todays discovery is, he is hoping that it will bring those who love her some closure. Also happening now, negotiations continue over a new contract for bart employees. Also, Governor Brown is taking no chances. If a strike is called, he plans to use his executive powers to request a court order on sunday mandating a coolingoff period. This will ensure that bart trains will run next week. This is in response to the unions insistence if progress is not made today, it will issue a 48hour strike notice. The Governors Court order can postpone that strike up to 60 days. So that means trains would keep rolling into october. Allowing extended negotiating time. San Francisco Superior Court is calling an emergency session this sunday morning to consider the governors request. We have new video of the aftermath of a crash involving two San Francisco police cars. A Spokesman Says officers in one car were trying to make a traffic stop near 18th and mission. A second car responding ended up crashing into the first patrol car. One person was taken to the hospital. Its not clear if the person hurt was an officer. Part of Mission Street was shut down about an hour and buses had to detour around that crash. He showed up in court in jumpsuit and shackles. You do that and its kind of a of a cycle. Where you do stuff, you put on clothing, you put on womens clothing, you put on whatever. And you just hang out. You know, i remember i used to go to paris, sometimes id get two hotel rooms. One, id have a hotel room in the ritz that my company would pay for, id entertain business clients. Then id have a crappie hotel room that i would keep a separate suitcase. Is there a therapy, a shock treatment absolutely, i went through shock treatment. I had electric shock treatment in l. A. In the 80s. I thought, this is going to do it, how could this not do it . I went twice and i thought, no. Im not going to put myself through this. This is barbaric. Once we got over the transition and they mourned their father dying, as they saw it, and this new person arising, theyve come to the conclusion its really the same person. Where do you see it going the next five years . Economically i think this mayors done a phenomenal job on economic development. We still have some very difficult problems. The homeless issues are very difficult here. We still have discrimination here. But we need to keep focused on that or were going to lose the soul of the city. I dont think the leaders today are going to let that happen. I really dont. I have a lot of confidence in the leadership today. Fascinating woman. Wednesday witnesses on horseback reported seeing a man and a teen girl matching the description of dimaggio and 16yearold Hannah Anderson. Authorities in San Diego County where the girl is there are now assisting local and federal authorities with this search. The search will consist of aerial resources, people on horseback, experienced obviously deputy sheriffs and other Law Enforcement personnel from that area that know the terrain and all the resources of the federal, state and local government are being brought to bear on this so we can hopefully bring hannah back safely to her family here in san diego. Happening now in Southern California more than 1,600 firefighters are now on the front lines of the socalled silver fire. Veteran firefighters are culling this fire east of l. A. One of the fastest and most dangerous theyve seen in years. Today crews used backhoes and chainsaws to create a fire break but shifting winds forced them to retreat. The fire has destroyed 26 homes. Right now the fire is only 25 contained. A brief break today from a week of downpours in the midwest. The wet weather has flooded neighborhoods and is being blamed for several deaths. As much as 15 inches of rain fell on parts of the midwest from oklahoma to missouri. One man died today when he was swept away in floodwaters in oklahoma city. A missouri woman died yesterday while attempting to drive across a flooded creek. Unfortunately for that region, more rain is expected into next week. Two people are dead and two more people are missing after a small plane crashed into two homes in east haven, connecticut. The faa says the multiengine plane took off from new jersey and crashed as it attempted to land at the Regional Airport in east haven. Conditions were rainy but airport Officials Say they did not receive any distress calls from the airplane. The two homes caught on fire, one house partially collapsed and two children ages 1 and 13 were in that house. A father and son were on the plane. No one yet has been recovered. In a surprise move president obama announced a review of the secret nsa surveillance programs revealed by edward snowden. Its a study by cal epa that combines longstanding work with fresh data. No climbing is claiming if x, then y. Because of Global Warming theres a horrible fire in california. Rather, theyre saying we see trends. If theres a better explanation of these trend s than higher Carbon Emissions wed love to know what it is. Like rising ocean levels, changing to californias climates have been more incremental, built up over time, than allout sea change. So says the new report from cal epa. Which highlights 36 indicators of tangible numbersbacked Climate Change ranging from ocean levels to ire temperature. One of the reports sponsors says the data isnt debatable. Theres no doubt i think its clear. Reporter dr. George who heads cal epas Environmental Health hazard Assessment Office points to air temperatures as a prime example. The Research Dates Back to the 1800s. Shows a steady rise of average temperatures increasing in california by a degree and a half per century. Represented by the solid gray line. He says that might sound minuscule but its a big deal. When you look at trends over time thats where it becomes important. And i think we can see that a small change in temperature over time actually influences the severe event. Reporter for east coasters, that might summon up visions of 2012s hurricane sandy, the secondcostliest hurricane in history. In california, wildfires are morrell. The report cites cal fire data of annual acreage burned in california, shown using red peaks and valleys. The three most destructive fires in the States History have all occurred in the last ten years. The extreme fires are worse. And big three fierce in california were very much the type of things we expect to see in an environmentally changed, globally changed world. Reporter berkeley professor dan camen did not contribute to the report but says it validates to what experts have expected for years. That human activity, commerce, emissions, are changing our environment. We asked both scientists how do they know these changes are result of our behavior and not cyclical changes or the earths orbit or any number of factors . Well, we cant prove that it is a causal event. What we do in our report is we look at trends. And we try to see, okay, we have a trend in gas emissions, a trend in black Carbon Emissions, a trend in sea level rise, a trend in decreased snowpack. Science is about being skeptical. What we cant do is to say, this particular fire or this particular warm year was 100 due to Climate Change. We can say, weve changed the background conditions. Or we like to say, weve loaded the dice in favor of a certain outcome. We look at how much it correlates. When camen says correlation, wees talking about rising Carbon Emissions and the onset of Climate Change. Across the globe our co2 levels are up 44 in the last 20 years according to the International Energy agency, led by china. Is it possible higher emissions have nothing to do with warmer temperatures or more severe fires . Scientists say, yes, its possible.
