nbcbayarea.com. jigs in to the newsroom, a norovirus outbreak in santa clara county, including 200 students at ten elementary schools in san jose. here's what santa clara public health officials are telling us right now. several schools are canceled nonintersection nal events this week. including after-school programs. however no classes have been canceled at this time. the first cases were reported on may 4th. earlier this month. all infected schools are getting its desks, chairs and counter tops wiped down with a bleach solution. the loved one of the 18 people who died in the ghost ship fire are joining in a lawsuit with the owners and managers of the white housareho. lawyers say they're suing pg&e as well. th >> pg&e failed to bring safe power into the ghost ship. that's why they're being brought into this lawsuit. it's not a matter of deep pockets. it's a matter of culpability so it doesn't happen again. >> today pg&e issued a statement that read in part, we have reviewed our records and we have no reports of electrical theft from this facility. a special unit of the atf is now in emoeryville investigatin the second fire of the multiuse building in the last ten months. there is surveillance video of the construction site. first the conviction, now the penalty. today see ierra's close friends took the stand. maryanne favro is live tonight at the courthouse. >> reporter: three of sierra lamar's close friends told jurors that even now, more than five years after she was kidnapped, they continue to live in fear. >> i miss how goofy and funny and just there for everyone that she was. >> reporter: andre weatherton and two of sierra's close friends testified today that they deeply miss sierra. and they told the jurors that since sierra's disappearance more than five years ago they're gripped with fear. >> you lose your sense of security. i think that's for all of us, especially, you know, i always have pepper spray. >> every since she went missing i've had nightmares of just the things that could have been done to her. feeling like the helplessness she must have felt. >> the same jury that convicted torres of murdering sierra must be decide whether he spends the rest of his life in prison or is executed. today his defense attorney told jurors that garcia torres grew up in poverty, lived in shacks and had an alcoholic father. he told jurors a life sentence can be fair and just. well it's hard to believe it's going to be 90 degrees in a few days. but first thing first. right now cold and a little bit of rain. let's take a really is unbelievable when you think about where temperatures are going to be going throughout later on this week. the latest change has all been brought about by the storm system to the north. heaviest rainfall has been across washington and oregon. but the boundary is moving closer to the bay area and that's what helped to spark off a few areas of drizzle. most notably the cloud coffer and cooler temperatures. na napa, sonoma counties, you can see the green showing up down toward san francisco. the biggest impact on the temperatures, just 56 in so noll, 54 in hayward. i'm tracking the investigation into michael flynn's possible tie to russia. blaine joins us live from the white house. blaine, more controversy. that comes less than 24 hours after news broke that president trump possibly shared information with the russians. >> reporter: yeah, janelle. absolutely. good afternoon to you. this is the second day of damage control, full damage control for this white house. they're pushing back very strongly on these reports that the president tried to shut down an fbi investigation into michael flynn. but again this is a day, the second day of headlines that the white house does not want right as the president is getting ready for his first trip overseas. nbc news confirmed that fire fbi director james comey claims president trump urged him to drop the investigation into michael flynn who lost his job as national security adviser for lying about his tie to russian. a tie close to comey he wrote in his memo, quote, i hope you can see your way clear of letting this go, letting flynn go. the white house says the president never asked comey or anyone else to end an ngs. this on the same day that the president is explaining reports that he shared classified information with russian. >> the president was aware of where the nervous came from. >> the white house notably not denying that the president gay out information so sensitive that's not being shared with our allies. >> the president in no way compromised any stouources or methods in the course of the conversation. >> reporter: nbc reporting it was israel providing the information reportedly shared during this oval office meeting. no american press allowed inside. democrats now demanding a transcript from that meeting. >> totally outrageous. if it was unwitting, that would be pathetic and dangerous. if it was intentional, that would even be -- i don't know what's worse. >> reporter: even the top senate republican concerned. >> i think it would be helpful to have less drama emanating from the white house. >> reporter: a prelude to his first international trip as he looks to strengthen relationships overseas. meanwhile the white house says that the real national security threat in all of this is whoever leaked that information to the press in the first place. janelle? >> you've been busy. thanks. in other white house news, sean spicer replaced. fox news host kimberly gill foil confirmed to the san jose mercury news that information. a former san francisco prosecutor. fox news released a statement late today saying she is under a long term contract with the network. our coverage continues on nightly news with lester holt. we'll go deeper into the carefully worded denials coming from the white house today. well you might have heard some of the criticism mistaken mistakenly spelled it wrong. >> it absolutely should be spelled correctly and taken down and fixed. >> reporter: a fix is coming. the crews will add a plate to the sign to fix the o on sunday world is coming to levi stadium tomorrow and that means vta will be running later. roughly 50,000 fans are expected to crowd into levi for the u2 concert. 6,000 of them will use public transportation and that extra service will cost $50,000. so who will pay for it? will it be the city of santa clara or will stadium management reimburse? they're going to talk about it tonight at the santa clara city council meeting. okay. the purpose of fashion is to make people look good but for local college students, fashion can do some good as well. >> garvin thomas is here to show us what they've about campus not just because of hi guide dog but because of his sense of style. he would like to wear his favorite overcoat when it rains, but that's a garment that doesn't normally come with a hood and that's an issue for a blind man. >> i can't use an umbrella. when you work with a seeing eye dog they're trained to avoid overhang and obstacles like stop signs and branches. if you were to walk around with an umbrella, you're going to defeat the training. >> so erin and kensie designed a practical stylish hood to match gene's overcoat when gene then showed off as part of the school's annual fashion show. it was within of close to a dozen pairings of students and the disabled. and there was a skirt that resists riding up in a woman in a wheelchair, shorts tailored specifically for a student with u one leg and a snug fitting stretchable jacket for a vet with ptsd. >> i'm able to rub my hand on the inside of the pspandex so i have a stress relief. >> these are proving to have benefits not just for the models. the designers say it too has changed them, vow in the future to weave some good into all that they do. this was the first time they did this. i guarantee you it will not be the last. >> that's real world fashion. >> practical stuff that can make somebody's life so much easier. >> and comfortable. >> exactly. >> so creative. they should come up with their own you'll need the windshield wipers. we have heavy drizzle and mist and spotty showers. 61 degrees and temperatures dropping into the 50s here as we head throughout the next several hours and keeping the cloud cover. a current look at the doppler radar and satellite combined, most of us have been impacted by the cloud cover. but you can see across marin, napa, sonoma and san francisco, a little green in here where you may need to windshield wipers tonight. a wider expansive look shows dry conditions dawn towards san jose but we can't rule out the possibility of a hit and miss shower throughout tonight. tomorrow morning's forecast, we'll hang on to the low clouds at least for the early commuters. we're talking 4:00 to 7:00 a.m. temps in the low 50s. clouds in place. but i think we'll start with increased sunshine for san francisco and also the north bay as our storm system exits. and we're going to see some fast changes here across the bay area. the cold air that we're dealing with is going on the moving off to the east throughout wednesday's forecast. high pressure is going to build in and eventually it's this area of high pressure that's going to reach its maximum strength as we head throughout the weekend and that's going to push us up some 25 degrees hotter. some dangerous heat for some and possibly record setting. a look at the microclimate forecast tomorrow, you'll see in the south bay, sunshine back out, temperatures warming up four to eight degrees, 73 in san jose. east bay, 78 in concord, 72 for fremont. peninsula low 70s. san francisco not quite 70s yet but we'll go up to 64 in the mission and in the north bay 74 expected in nevada. let's get to the extended forecast. san francisco not going to be uncomfortable the next seven days. we'll reach the warmest weather this weekend with the low 70s and we'll stay dry for the next seven days. from the interior we go from 75 tomorrow up to 94 on sunday. that's when it's going to be uncomfortable where we'll set records and you're going to need to remember to drink plenty of water if you're doing a lot of stuff outside. we're going to have a look at this coming up at 6:20 and
