He has a checkered criminal past. Olga petrov and her son are suing sheriffs over this beating last november. But th case took a new twist last friday when Stanislaw Petrov was arrested again, this time on gun charges that could put him away for a decade. Mark matthews is in San Francisco. This turns out to be a strange story. What happened today . Reporter Stanislaw Petrov was due to be arraigned on the gun charges this morning in federal court. That has been put off till wednesday. I cant tell you that that in fact what happened because reporters even petrovs mother, were banned from the court. On friday, fbi agents raided a house in San Franciscos visitacion valley. They reportedly found a weapon and arrested Stanislaw Petrov. Its this horrible event which we saw on the news on friday. Its on the top of the order. Reporter today his mother accused Law Enforcement of trying to paint her son as a monster because of what Sheriff Deputies did last november. Two Alameda County sheriffs deputies tackled the 29yearold in a San Francisco alley after a highspeed chase across the bay bridge. They beat petrov repeatedly with battens. That beating caught on Surveillance Video that put him in the hospital and caused the sheriff to place three deputies on leave and open an investigation. Petrov seen here in a picture from his Facebook Page has a long criminal arrest record and if he is convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm, he could face a decade in prison. But olga petrov says her son hasnt been in his right mind ever since the november beating. In november they destroyed him physically, they destroyed him mentally, and not only talking about his hands. Reporter she says her son suffered from brain injuries and posttraumatic stress.
