Its been a day of rage. Dozens of people were killed in confrontations with security forces. And demonstrators gathered by the thousands. The protests came just two days after egypts military ruler ordered his forces to clear protest camps. At least 638 people were killed and 1,000 more were wounded. Nbcs ayman moden reports. Reporter for the Third Straight night the government has imposed a curfew on the capital, cairo, and cities all across the country. This comes on the heels of a day that has been called a day of rage. Thats what it was called by supporters of the ousted president mohammed morrisse president mohammed morrisd mors. Their aim was to express that is dissatisfaction with what happened on wednesday, the mass killing of their supporters who were camped out at a protest location demanding that president morsi be reinstated. In their eyes they believe the military is returning this country to a military dictatorship. Thats why theyre calling for a weeklong sustained marches and protests across the country. But in the eyes of the government, right now what is happening here is a war on terrorism. Theyre describing these protests and these marches as nothing short of terrorism acts against government buildings, churches, and police stations in fact, theyve been showing footage and images on state tv here showing that the protesters have been using weapons, setting fire to buildings and attacking it. So the country really is now polarized between these two camps and these two ideological debates. And against that backdrop theres a tremendous amount of uncertainty, a lot of anxiety, a lot of tension. Right now the government has deployed the military on very heightened state of alert all across the capital and all across the country. Back to you. A crisis in egypt. We really looked at what other museums around the country have done and how its impacted them with moves. It was hard to find that real exact data that would support. Reporter exhibit technician and Union President old sterling says it was more than the number of ticket sale, it was turning them into revenue. Our ticket prices with our local discounts, the number of seniors and children and the number of free admissions that we give have reduced our ticket prices to a lower level than we expected. Reporter he says at this rate the exploratorium is set to lose roughly 3. 5 million each year. The staff cuts come as part of a formal restructuring of the museum. Smith is hoping this will eventually bring back some people. Within the restructuring there are actually some job changes, and there actually will be some new positions that will be posted to. Reporter exploratorium fans like this 10yearold already have plans in place to keep the museum going strong.
