Live to San Francisco where look at that, the fog is still sticking around. How about san jose . The temperature will make a big difference when it comes to the fog. I know that much about weather. Keri hall knows more. Yeah, we are seeing the sunshine and its causing a wide range in temperatures around the bay area. So right now in san jose even though we had a morning start with the few clouds its all clear now. Were in the upper 60s and then talk a look at the trend, well see it rise into the mid 80s for the afternoon. But you do compare that to where the fog sticks around longer and in San Francisco, Half Moon Bay we stay in the mid 60s and across the parts of the peninsula, well be in the upper 60s and low 70s. And then as you make your way inland, that fog and the cool air doesnt reach so livermore reaching 95 degrees today. Were going to see this type of range in temperatures across the bay area continuing into the weekend. More about that coming up in a few minutes. Thank you. Following the 2020 murder of george floyd in the nationwide Racial Justice protest that followed, many cities were forced to address historical injustices. Two years later south San Francisco launched a commission of what they called just ordinary people. These residents are addressing problems like the housing crisis and the citys response to Mental Health emergencies. I spoke about how the commission will move the community forward. Its been two years in the making. In terms of this commission. We have just had our second meeting yesterday. And its been a fantastic group of residents who really care about providing equity in our city. Making sure that our city is just and the conversations have been nothing but eye opening and important. I think probably one of the most important things that i learned about this whole process is that we have to have Uncomfortable Conversations but we have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Exactly. Sometimes we have to talk about public safety. So a couple of meetings under your belt so far. Youre discussing issues, do you hope to have action on some of these things and really what is coming out of it so far . Yeah, i think the whole idea is an opportunity for our residents to have an open and frank and direct conversation. To go to this commission and talk about their experiences in terms of public safety. And to have this commission come back and come up with policy ideas for the city council to make sure that we are a more equitable city. One of the things that we have learned about in this whole process is we want to make sure we provide Mental Health services to those having Mental Health crisises and we have been able to tackle that issue in the forefront by partnering with the county of san mateo in hiring a Mental Health commission and putting that with our Police Officers so when there is a Mental Health crisis and a phone call comes in, that we have a specialist to go with the Police Officer to help deescalate potentially a Mental Health crisis happening in the city.
