The fireball has been in operation since 2003, the spokesperson telling us theres only been one reportable injury. That was someone three or four years ago who fell down on the platform before getting on to the ride itself. The board walk also says that they inspect every ride, every day before opening to the public as required by law, thats on top of inspections by the state that are sometimes unannounced. Frankly, ride safety in california is on the cutting edge of ride safety throughout the world. We have the most stringent ride regulations anywhere in the world. Permanent Amusement Park rides like those at the board walk, disneyland, universal are among the safest rides in the world. In large part because of the states role in overseeing ride safety. We spoke to the victim and her niece who says that man first yelled at her to get out of the way been then bowling her over. Shes on the floor. Knocked out. And i dont know why. Like, why . Doctors say that the victim suffered a broken bone in her face and that that may leave her blind in her left eye permanently. A swinging ride called the fireball broke apart midflight senng we found out the Ohio State Fair deadly Amusement Park ride. The fireball broke apart midnight, sending terrified riders tumbling almost two stories to the ground. One man died, seven others on the ride were injured. One person was dead and seven others as we just said are hurt right now. Their conditions unknown after this twisting and turning amusement ride unexpectedly flew apart at a high rate of speed. Records show the fireball had just passed the series of inspections yesterday as several parks have been replaced back in may of the seven people injured, three of them are in critical condition. At the california state fair in sacramento tell us they have shut down the fireball ride there as well as investigators try to figure out what caused that ride to break apart. Yesterday an 18yearold girl made her First Court Appearance after police say she killed her younger sister in a drunk driving accident, and it was all streamed live on instagram. The video of that accident, which was shared live and since went viral has sparked outrage and disbelief. These are students that belong in families where they have multiple jobs and they still cant afford to pay the rent to live here. And they certainly cant afford to get backpacks and supplies. Reporter tell me about the locations that people can drop these off at. We have that on our site, including the list i just showed you up front of what you can put in the backpacks as well. They have a specific need. Family giving tree. Orgs website has the list as well of where you can find the cards and drop them off. This is the third year and theyre going to help over 800 students. Reporter thats wonderful, another thing too i want to mention, a the love people dont think about this, calculators. They are also something very important to include in the backpacks. How are these kids going to get job in the the bay area if we cant teach them math . Reporter thats a good point. Another thing as well, we have our big event on saturday, chris is going to be out there. We have our Ice Cream Truck, get that out there, family games and everything. Bring the family out and join us fill a lot of backpacks. When i was a kid, my family used to take me just like these guys are here, and i know i wouldnt miss it for the world and it made a difference in my school year as well when i was younger. While we have the low clouds and the fog right now in daily city, itll be slow to clear and our temperatures are cooler, much cooler, for some parts of the coast and the inner bay and palo alto at 66 degrees. Starting to warm up in san jose, its still very comfortable. And 80 degrees now in livermore, morgan hill at 81 degrees. We are starting to feel the difference in the temperature, even from yesterday to today. And heading up to 92 degrees in east san jose, high up to 93 degrees. As we move over toward the east bay, livermore, going to head up to 97 degrees for the high. Oakland, 79 degrees, and for the peninsula, anywhere from 80 in san mateo to 87 degrees in palo alto, in the north bay, you will feel those hot temperatures starting to ramp up today and you may have to turn on the airconditioning for quite a while in napa today, expect a high of 94 degrees. If you are planning over the next few days to go to the sierra, looks like some beautiful weather. This is a live look out right now in squaw valley and folks taking a dip in the pool. And the temperatures are going to rise into the low 80s with some mostly sunny skies over the next few days. If youre spending the weekend in napa, itll be up to 88 degrees tomorrow.
