Com if you want to watch the full address. And now to another developing story, a fire is burning out of control in the central valley. This is video of the fire as it was raging overnight. Heres the latest numbers. About 19,000 acres have been scorched so far. Roughly 100 structures, including a lot of homes, are completely gone. 1500 more properties are still under threat. Miguel almaguer is in kern county with the fight of the wildfire. Reporter this is what the fire has done, destroyed more than 100 homes, moving quickly through the night and into the morning. Its one of the most aggressive fires we have seen this year and so far its also the most destructive. Overnight, exploding out of control and raking over homes, the socalled erskine fire is raging out of control. Ive never seen so many homes burned. Reporter firefighter tyler documenting the fire. Weve lost communities. Reporter feeding on drought, fueled by scorching temperatures and fanned by the winds. Thats one house, the second, the third over here. Four, five, six down the street. Reporter a wall of flames hop scotched from home to home. The count now, at least 80 structures, propane tanks exploding through the day. With damage mounting and at least 1500 homes threatened, Mass Evacuations are under way. For now, this volatile fire is unstoppable, hopping highways, smoke, flames and destruction everywhere. Sad to see so many homes burn. Reporter we now know at least 8,000 acres have gone up in flames. This fire is zero percent contained. 300 firefighters are on the ground and hundreds more on the way. Now back to you. Just like to that, its up to 19,000 acres now. Winds and heat are going to be a factor. Its not going to be easy for the firefighters. No. Not at all. Well have more hot weather as we go into the date and the next several days. The winds, of course, really intensifying with the gusts coming in from 20 to 50 miles an hour. Humidity only down to 12 and the temperatures are up to 93 degrees. We will once again see more of that heat as we go into the weekend. And this evening, as we celebrate once again a lot of the events going on and the pride weekend, at 6 00, 65 degrees dropping back to 59 by 8 00 and still nice and sunny. Happening today and throughout the weekend, as kari mentioned, San Francisco is expected to be packed with pride as millions of people arrive for the pride celebration. But for the first time in 46 years, you will have to go through some sort of security as you would find at the airport. Steph chuang is joining us from the newsroom. Its a personal event for many people here. We spoke with a pride volunteer who lost her friend in orlando. Deeply personal. Chris lopez telling me that shes volunteered for 14 years but this year she is showing up with a statement and theres a feeling going into this weekend celebration. Along with that, a lot more security. For the first time ever, you will have to go through metal detectors at every point of entry as private security guards are wanding people down. We saw this in the castro. To check for weapons. Pride volunteers will screen bags. As for specific threats, though, they dont know of any this weekend but they have come up with a detailed security plan that includes adding extra officers, both undercover and uniform. Thats enough to draw the biggest pride crowd ever. Shes feeling anxious but says nothing will keep her away, especially after her friend was killed in the orlando tragedy. I lost my friend and if i was to stay at home, it wouldnt do anything. I would just rather walk in bravery. Reporter sf pride will honor those 49 People Killed almost two weeks ago during sundays parade. And sf pride is still looking for people to march with that group. There are already impacts here in the city set up around the civic center where it kicks off the pride festival. There are parking restrictions and street closures going on this morning. Kris and sam, you know what that means, a lot of traffic. That is to be expected. Steph, thank you for that report. Time to look at new measures for bike safety. Thats the San Francisco Bike Coalition message after two cyclists were killed this week. They are asking to slow down traffic and create more bikeprotected lanes. This is following wednesday nights accident. A woman was killed when a driver ran right through a red light. Then, another woman died while riding her bike in a golden gate park. She was struck by a driver in a stolen car. The city needs to provide infrastructure and engineering that makes the streets safer for all users. Police say the party bus that had dozens of teenagers on his bus with drugs and booze will appear in court today. James greene had 33 minors on board, 30 bottles of hard liquor and marijuana. Greene faces four drug charges himself and one felony child endangerment charge. Greene tells police he did not know there was alcohol on board. Coming up next, a 400 million find. The pipeline started to like and Authorities Say its lucky that there was no water flowing it taking it to the ocean or the beach. Fortunately, it didnt make it to the water. Its about 50 miles northwest of last years much bigger oil spill off the coast of santa barbara. Federal officials blamed that spill on corroded pipelines. The owner faces millions of dollars in fines and dozens of criminal charges. Across the coast now and to beaches at disney world are reopen for the First Time Since an alligator attacked and killed a 2yearold boy. Authorities are confident that the gator that snatched the toddler was shot and killed. They had to trap and euthanize six alligators since the tragedy. Lane graves was wading in a lagoon in ankledeep water when an alligator popped up and dragged him under water killing him. The crackdown on seat hogs is under way on board b. A. R. T. The officers will take names and check for outstanding warrants even when officers are just giving a warning. At least one director expresses concern that that is too strict. The new law is controversial passing with only a 54 vote. Repeat offenders will face up to fines up to 500. And efforts to make bike lanes for b. A. R. T. Stations is working. This are problems, though, the lockers for the bikes are too crowded and many riders say they generally dont work. Ikea is trying to get its new pr campaign to work in the hopes of putting up a new store in dublin. That would be the bay areas third ikea. Its proposed for a location off of interstate 580 and 680 interchange. The east bay times is reporting that ikea is going to hold a series of Public Meetings next week to try to drum up support for the project. If all goes as planned, the store would open in two years. Usually when we face triple digit heat in the south bay, San Francisco is an option but not this weekend. Lets take a look at the golden gate camera. We do see a lot of that fog out there. Its just in parts of the bay area and thats keeping our temperatures cooler. Kind of hard to imagine there, right . Look at that. You cant even see the bridge at all. Thats helping to keep our coastal areas cool and that will be where you can go to catch a little bit of a break from the heat that we will be feeling for those inland areas. Heres a look at healdsburg. Its 72 in santa rosa. 75 in concord. Still feels nice at this hour. Keep in mind that we will continue to go up. Todays highs, up to 93 in fairfield. Concord, 90. Palo alto at 78 and 72 in San Francisco. As we break it down for livermore, still some hot temperatures there. For the next several hours, well continue to see it rise, up to 86 by 4 00 and during the evening commute, 5 00, 84 degrees. Feeling much better at 9 00. Once the sun sets, were down to 70 degrees. Another hot one today. Once again, thats only for the inland areas. Coastal areas of San Francisco, you are looking good. Thats where we will have some 70s there. 80s for santa rosa down to the east bay and south bay as well. Into the weekend, well start to see the 90s nudge in and upper 80s for san jose and then well see the 100s building in the trivalley and also into concord as well as around the delta, well see very hot weather there, too. If youre going out to the Alameda County fair this morning, right after sunset, its going to be 70 degrees. It will feel very nice. Going throughout the day, its going to be hot. And we also have in the north bay, in sonoma, hot weather builds there at the sonoma raceway. The big event on sunday, its going to be 90 with mostly sunny skies. Make sure you keep drinking lots of water and have sunglasses and all of that stuff to protect yourself from the sun. The beach will be a great place to be as we look at ocean beach for tomorrow starting out in the morning. The temperatures are at 61 degrees and then rising into the midto upper 60s as we go through the day. Santa cruz, nice. 73 degrees at lunchtime with a high of 77 degrees. Winds coming in from the westnorthwest. As we look at all of our microclimates for the weekend, San Francisco, once again, the only cool spot and then the peninsula, still not too bad. Warmer there. 82 degrees on sunday. But the 90s will be widespread across the trivalley, north bay as well as south bay. You can see that heat will be continuing into next week as well. Reporter this morning, a state of emergency as a band of severe thunderstorms pounded parts of West Virginia causing historic and widespread flooding. That flooding washing some homes right off their foundations. Stunned residents watched what it appeared to be a house on fire floating down a creek. Dad, watch out. Reporter emergency crews in Jackson County responded to reports of a toddler rushed away by Rushing Water and crews will temporary suspend the search. The storms uprooted trees and knocked overpower lines plunging almost 1 million residents into darkness. The small town of ridgewood, rain flooded homes and businesses. Emergency crews are working to help hundreds of people after the overpass was rushed away by powerful floodwaters. Authorities are still trying to figure out just how to reach a group of people trapped inside a shopping mall. Investigators looked at blood lead levels in flint under the age of 6 before, during and after the flint river was used for drinking water. They had a 60 chance of having dangerous lead levels when the water came from the flint river. The good news is, after the water supply was switched to the detroit system. Plans to reform and simplify how we pay our taxes, how speaker ball ryan called a better way and cut the number of tax rates from seven down to three and the gop plan would also introduce an irs commissioner. Denouncing the ruling and vowing to keep fighting, a group gathered in downtown san jose yesterday. One woman who was helped by daca now says her familys future is uncertain. My mother would benefit from dapa so we are kind of planning on it happening. We didnt expect it to be letdown. People gathered near our lady of guadalupe church. A lot of families in limbo. A man accused of a violent and bizarre kidnapping, a case that garnered attention after police discounted the entire story calling it a hoax. Mullers attorney claims that a cell phone that was left behind at a separate scene was obtained illegally but the judge did not buy that. I was nervous most of the morning. I felt like the brother was going to judge in favor of keeping the phone in but there was an uncertainty that it may go the other way. The cell phone led investigators linking muller to the crime. The trial will begin officially in january. An investigator for the Alameda County District Attorneys Office has been clear after a misconduct investigation. Prosecutors say Sergeant Mike gant was accused of having his girlfriend transcribe audio recordings in major cases while he was in the force. But they say he will not face any charges because no crime was committed. They also say it did not compromise any prosecution. Residents say they are really surprised at the sudden spike in burglaries in orinda. People are taking precaution. Michael says hes making sure to lock all of his doors following the burglary of his orinda home on tuesday morning. He discovered two of his suitcases packed with his belongings. Probably was very foolish to go and check to see if my firearm was still here but he had it so i went and called 911. I never saw him until the police had him in the back seat of their automobile. That suspect is the only one that police have in custody right now. Police do not think that all of the crimes are related. So they apparently have several more suspects to find. Police are looking for a man they say attacked an employee after he was caught shoplifting. This happened at the Westlake Shopping Center in daly city. Police say that he lunged at a store employee with a knife on tuesday. Luckily, the man missed and no one was injured. The employee reported seeing that man stealing items and confronted him. Police say this was not the first time that the man has stolen from the store and each time hes gotten away with it. Pg e customers need to brace for another increase to pay for upgrades to the utilitys Pipeline System which is aging. Over the next couple of years, bills for natural gas are expected to rise an estimated 11 which translate to 6 tacked on to your monthly bill. The increase will begin the first of august. On vacation and off duty but still willing to help, a solano firefighter helped save a woman from drowning in hawaii. On saturday, he noticed a woman barely moving in a lagoon. He rushed to her aid and she was barely breathing at the time. When paramedics arrived, he had gotten the water out of her lungs. As we break it down for oakland, an idea of what the temperatures will do over the next several hours, by 4 00, were hitting the hottest temperatures there. 79 degrees. Thats not bad. Its a little above average but not one of the places where the heat will be unbearable. Well, the heat will intensify and some 80s are expected for the inland areas from the north bay to east bay down into the south bay and 90s that will continue to push farther to the coast as we go into sunday as well and into next week and this evening, shortly after sunset, it will be 70 degrees and sonoma raceway, hosting nascar this weekend and the big event on sunday, it will be 90 degrees. But well also see the summertime heat for both today as well as tomorrow. Lots of fluid. You try to take breaks and get in the shade when you can. Later on this evening for pride weekend, the march at 6 00, we have temperatures into the mid60s there. A big difference from being in the north bay or trivalley to San Francisco. That will be in the case all weekend long for pride weekend. As you head out to the beach in half moon bay, we start out in the morning at 59 degrees. Lunchtime, 64. Still very nice at half moon bay. Santa cruz, one of the warmer beaches at 77 degrees. You still have this weak onshore flow that keeps the temperatures much cooler but once again well have the risk of rip currents there. East bay, mid80s as well as the peninsula and then the south bay, the trivalley as well as the north bay looking at hot temperatures. Perhaps because the absolute best part of his journey, chad believes, is ahead of him. His future looked bright and graduated in three years and and it was there that some future demons first got their hooks in to chad. Chad ended up living on the street in santa cruz for four brutal years before realizing he did have the strength to fight his way back into society. I had to survive. And that was pretty empowering. Reporter chad is now a project director for the downtown streets team, a nonprofit with a tremendous track record of getting homeless off the streets and into jobs. Still, the amount of good that chad can do here is limited by the amount of time he is spending here. Hour upon hour, relying on buses and trains to get to work sites all over the south bay. The middle of the day could be in palo alto, then sunnyvale. Reporter he cant afford a fullyequipped van but can afford a cup of coffee with julie and that was enough. Once julie, who is active in civic life, heard chads story and decided to help. She mobilized a team to raise money for chad, even got the mayor involved. A couple in tennessee owns the worlds oldest cat. His name is squeak. Hes been with his owners thomas and dixie hilton, the oldest living cat on record is 26 years old from oregon.
