Have pushed the vote on this until next tuesday. So no decision today. Audrie potts mother was afraid this was going to happen which is why she and her attorney held a
News Conference
yesterday to counter the opposition to the bill. If youre not familiar with her daughter, audrie, she was a 15yearold
High School Student
who was sexually assaulted and photographed. She committed suicide after those photos were circulated. Senator jim bell proposed audries law. This morning at the hearing, lawyers groups and at least two of the seven
Assembly Members
on the committee opposed the mandatory minimum, calling it ineffective, too arbitrary, saying that the juvenile
Justice System
should be focused less on multiple and more on rehabilitation. Audries mother thinks the law isnt strong enough. If audrie was able to fight back her attackers, it would have gone to an adult court. It would have been open proceedings. They would had sexual offender status. But because she couldnt fight back, it was treated as a lesser crime. And thats outrageous. We think that the entire bill really goes against the purpose of the juvenile
Justice System
. The goal of the system is rehabilitation of the youth. That includes holding him or her accountable for their actions. Audreys law, if passed in its current state, would make juvenile proceedings in these kind of cases open and would punish anyone who disseminates pictures or videos with the intent to further harm the victim. The committee continued this until next tuesday, with the understanding that senator bell and the committee would

has more for baghdad on the security situation and the advance of militants in northern iraq. Reporter baghdad remains very tense. A lot of people are leaving the city, most of the shops are closed in the downtown area. Of course, the u. S. Embassy is here in the center of baghdad. The state department has asked the military to deploy extra security personnel. Those are starting to arrive, about 170 u. S. Soldiers and marines, just to provide security for the embassy compound. The biggest u. S. Embassy in the world, also the most expensive. Its about the size of vatican city. The u. S. Military is also deploying a hundred experts through nearby. Those troops are specialized in air force, airfield management, the kind of people who could set up an airstrip in an emergency situation, manage flights should an emergency evacuation of american personnel here in baghdad be required. So far, that emergency evacuation has not been necessary. Weve only seen a slow removal of nonessential personnel, because, so far, the fight hasnt come to baghdad. Weve seen some violence here, but the assault by the militant group isis, an al qaeda offshoot, has been kept outside of the city. The iraqi army is beginning a counteroffensive using air strikes, and it seems for now that this capital is not going to fall. Richard engel, nbc news, baghdad. A second death has been linked to the storm that brought twin tornadoes to a small town in nebraska. A driver and a 5yearold girl were killed in the town of pillger yesterday. The storm flat pd dozens of homes. Fearing for their lives, 350 residents left out of the powerful twister slammed the area, closing down all roads in sight. The sheriff estimates 50 to 75 of pillger was heavily damaged or destroyed, conjuring up images of joplin, missouri. Those tornadoes dropped out of the sky, roughly a mile away from one another and eventually merged into one giant tornado. Meteorologists will not know the intensity of the storms until later today at the earliest, after they have a chance to survey more of the damage. Its just unbelievable, because youre just kind of in a state of shock, because, its you cant believe that it can be gone so fast. And more storms are expected today, stretching from eastern montana all the way to new york, but will not be as powerful as what we witnessed yesterday. Bay area faith leaders submitted a petition today to
