Be very, very cautious. The county fire was started by a cigarette butt. Several homes have been destroyed in that fire, but thankfully nobody has been killed. Talking about what a role reversal that is. We had such a drought. Now people are really tired of the rain. Just a few drops i know headed our way. What we usually see in april are weaker weather systems and still bring a chance of showers. Nothing too heavy and the sevenday forecast appears to be playing out more typical for this time of year. Yes, a chance of talking about showers tomorrow. But the totals generally pretty light as you are about to see over the next 24 to 48 hours. Right now San Francisco youve got the clouds on the increase, 54 degrees. San jose partly to mostly cloudy skies at 54 and around fremont still breezy out there, 56 degrees and speaking of the winds around the peninsula up towards the north bay, 20 to 25 miles per hour. Out around s. F. O. Weve seen a few guests at 30. Wind speeds starting to drop off in the south bay. Were expecting mostly cloudy skies and showers beginning to develop across the central bay and north bay with morning temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s and monday afternoon very likely the cool est day of the week ahead with only low to mid 60s closer to san jose and the trivalley, and to the east bay well see 64 in concord, about 65 there in danville, peninsula temperatures from 62 in san mateo and about the same into downtown San Francisco and out around ocean beach for tomorrow, wind speeds 10 to 20 out of the northwest and north bay best chance for finding rain drops will be up towards Sonoma County and napa counties during the day tomorrow. As you see on the satellite theres a lot of clouds but not necessarily a lot of rain. We have High Pressure just off to the west and a series of systems kind of spilling over that ridge. So, 9 30 tomorrow morning, you can see a chance of some light rain up here along the peninsula into the north bay and then early afternoon now you can see how these spotty showers kind of head into parts of the south bay possibly impacting part of the evening commute and for tuesday similar pattern here. It looks like more the north bay could get involved with those showers during the day. Again, not a lot out there. And sure enough, the measurable rainfall totals were expecting between monday through about 11 00 tuesday is actually less than what we showed you at 6 00. So you can see here most of the more substantial rain now, even north of Sonoma County generally enough to wet the roads. At times around the central bay and sougts bay mid week. Were going to see the High Pressure ridge start to strengthen once we pass wednesday. Thursday as that builds in areas of low pressure off to the east could get gusty north winds. Thursday into friday with some gusts potentially along the coast and in the hills for midday friday. Could be up to 45 miles per hour. The other effect with this highpressure system is starting to build is that our temperatures by next weekend upper 70s and low 80s and possibly beyond the next 7 to 10 days as we head into the month of may, mid80s could be in reach. Right now what were seeing is a lot of transition through the sevenday forecast. Chance of showers around San Francisco, best chance will be tomorrow. Few showers there into tuesday, then wednesday looks like mainly a north bay event. You can see there temperatures not changing much to the middle part of the week. Thursday and friday skies clear, but that is going to include some gusty winds at times. And heres the good news. Best weather of the sevenday forecast, just in time for the weekend, sunday looks like 80s and possibly beyond sunday computer models hinting at mid80s in some of the valleys. We work weekends. Were going to have to change that. For the majority its good news. Thats true. Thanks, rob. Coming up next, the olympics, the evaluation that is taking place right now should l. A. As the team is in the hunt for an nba championship. A very exciting time for warriors fans. The teams in the hunt for an nba championship. They certainly could do it before the teams first playoff game, head coach steve kerr delivered a message that had little to do, though, with the game. Heres everyone to try to bring joy and good will to the world. There is a woman in burlingame, everybody has been doing that. Garvin thomas has tonights bay area proud. Speaking of basketball, its something alexandra crisp has played since she was a little girl, as much as any other sport out there. One sport in particular is the key to her giving back. So, its got a little less air but it feels well made. So, its for pretty much heron tire life, alexander crisp has been serious about playing soccer. Still, shes never kicked a soccer ball with as much purpose as she does these days. Alex, you see, is testing them to see which one is the best fit for her ultimate goal. Im one person with an idea and i took action. And the action has snowballed into a beautiful project. Alexs project began of all places at the thanksgiving dinner table with her family a few years ago. Syrian refugees had been in the news a lot around that time. A crisis half a world away, alex thought, until her mother put it in perspective. Mom said, if your grandfather didnt come to this country as a small child, we could all be syrian refugees. Those refugees were no longer strangers from a distant land, and they needed her help. But how . And, so, i just asked for something. I said, what can i do to help these refugees make a difference . And then soccer hit my consciousness. I was like, get a free soccer ball. This is the very first ball. Reporter alex knew from her previous travels around the world that a soccer ball can do magic when it comes to breaking down barriers and sparking joy. These are going to go to the camps and the kids. Reporter she rounded up donations and arranged for 750 soccer balls to be manufactured in pakistan, then delivered to a hotel room in greece where she and some friends would personally deliver them to refugee camps. It was a lot of planning, alex says, that ultimately went just according to plan. We just started playing together for the next hour. A bunch of poise came over. The coordinator came over and we started playing and laughing. It was great. Reporter alex understands that soccer balls are not necessary for a refugees survival. Still, she says, they can be essential to their lives. She is already planning her next visit, her next donation. I want something thats tough and durable. Reporter just as soon as she finds the perfect ball to do the greatest good. Once on the ground in greece, alex learned about a lot of other needs the refugees and other children had. So, next time she returns, shell be bringing books as well to donate to local schools. Garvin thomas, nbc bay area news. Parking along medians on dolores street in San Francisco wont always come with the stress of getting a ticket in the more. The city started a Pilot Program on friday to make the practice legal at certain times. Drivers have long used the medians for extra parking on dolores especially for sundays for Mission Dolores Church Services and for those who want to use dolores park. While it wasnt really enforced that much, it was illegal and now that its legal, friday nights, saturday mornings and from 8 00 a. M. To 6 00 p. M. On sundays, enforcement during other times going to increase. From a safety perspective, sometimes one or two of those cars might be left on the median until 10 00, 1 00 in the morning. Now youve got a single car nobody is expecting to see there in the dark. We wanted to make it clear that was not okay. Well, the Pilot Program is set to last for 16 months, but could become permanent if it goes well. Well, we certainly wouldnt normally see Something Like this. It was a rare sight in monterey bay this weekend. Real ocean life, you could say. Members of monterey bay whale watch captured this video here. Take a look, of a large group of killer whales eating two gray whales. Thats kind of hard to tell, at least for me, where the gray whales are. Might be better that way. But this is nature in action. It was shot by a drone which is why its so unusual. The feeding frenzy has been going on for days. Whale watchers say you dont often see Something Like this. But, of course, whales need to eat, sometimes they eat other kinds of whales. They were hungry. And gray is the other white meat. Gray whales. I dont know how that campaign would go over. A nice day for well dining. For droning. If you were around monterey on the coast it was windy today. We had a cooler blustery finish to the weekend and weve got some rapidly changing conditions actually setting up for the next seven days. Lets take you to the sierra. See what the temperature is like as they close in on midnight. Theres a pretty view. Squaw creek resort, 36 degrees. Looking from befl dear to San Francisco, pretty city lights 54 degrees. Bree breezy out there still right now. Temperatures not too chilly. Low to mid 50s outside, we probably wont get too cool because we have clouds moving into the bay area. Clouds plus breezy conditions help keep the heat up at night. Clouds can act a bit like a blanket overnight. Morning temperatures should not be too chilly. Upper 40s to low 50s tomorrow morning, but daytime highs tomorrow probably the cool est day in the next seven days mostly cloudy skies and occasional showers. Well see low to mid 60s around san jose and lower 60s into the north bay. So, from the morning till about lunchtime you see a chance of finding some light rain, monday looks to be the best day for finding showers, especially for areas south of San Francisco. For tuesday still more clouds coming in. Sunshine to start things off Tuesday Morning and then during the day you could see a few isolated showers, mainly into the north bay during the day tuesday and into wednesday morning one more system can eclipse by the north bay. Bottom line here is not a lot of rain. In fact, some places may not really technically get any measurable rainfall. Just enough briefly to wet the ground in a few spots.
