Now Startup Companies are being priced out of San Francisco and Silicon Valley, and moving across the bay bridge into oakland. Its no secret that oakland is becoming the place for foodies. Restaurants are popping up everywhere. What you may not know is Technology Companies are moving in, and more are coming. Im glad that i know the secret they dont. The company came here before it was cool to be here. Were looking for more space. Oakland seemed to be a really great spot, given the Central Location to transportation. A followup now on a controversial parking app. The ceo of monkey parking said today he wont shut down the app despite a cease and desist letter from the city of San Francisco. Monkey parking allows users to auction off a Public Parking spot as soon as theyre about to leave. In a released statement on twitter, the company says the app does not sell city parking spaces, but just information about them. San francisco disagrees and order monkey parking and two other similar apps to shut down by midjuly. Well, one coach called him the hardest working basketball player to come out of archbishop mid di high school. And today all of that work paid off for san jose star basketball player aaron gordon. He became the fourth pick in the nba draft and will play for the Orlando Magic. Peggy bunker is in los gatos tonight. And peggy, a huge crowd of family and friends came out the watch the draft. Reporter it was an amazing crowd here in los gatos tonight, of course. All of these people coaches, family, friends, they knew aaron gordon when he was just a little boit. They knew about his nba dreams. Today at 18 years old, after years of hard work, those dreams came to pass. At 18 years old, a lifetime dream already comes true. But before he was snatched up by the nba, he was working hard with these guys, his coaches at archbishop middie high school. All of gordons basketball coaches from Grammer School to high school are here at dd sports bar in los gatos to watch their 69 superstar go pro. He deserves everything he has gotten. He is definitely the hardest worker weve had at middie. His love for the game is unsurpassed. See a great teammate. Reporter these coaches are relishing in his success, and justifiably some of their own, although theyre quick to give all of the credit to gordon. He is the one they say that earned it. When you have a guy with the drive of aaron, that comes out as all coach, i thi. He wants the ball more than the other guy. He is always communicating, always doing the right thing. Thats what he always wanted to. Do you asked him when he was little, he would say i want to be an nba player. The hangar was full of airplanes when the fire started around 11 30 this evening. But cal fire crews and volunteer firefighters managed to contain the fire to one area in the hangar. And no planes were damaged. While firefighters say they knocked it down quickly, there were some tense moments. When the crews arrived, some sort of flammable liquid spilled out and rolled right towards them. So as theyre deploying their hose lines, fire actually came underneath the door and at them. There is smoke damage throughout the hanger. The cause of the fire is under investigation. New at 11 00, a road rage incident targeting a small school bus. Police arresting man accused of intentionally running that boss off the road before ramming his Toyota Corolla into it. The hitandrun crash happened on highway 1 in aptop south of santa cruz. Police did arrest jeffrey bowie. He has been charged with assault of a Deadly Weapon and child cruelty. Arrest records show it was his second arrest this week. A man once considered federal agent of the year now faces federal charges for allegedly stealing on the job. Investigator says san jose senior postal inspector quan howard would tell his employees to let him know when items were separated from their packaging. And when the items arrived back at the post office, howard would allegedly steal them. Howard set up surveillance cameras to catch him in the act. He is facing charges of accused of stealing gift cards, pills, cash. Even two silver bars. If convicted he faces up to 20 years in prison. Caught on camera, a wild attack at a south bay liquor store. Watch him argue with the clerk and then get violent, throwing bottles of liquor. The clerk ends up fighting back, going after the suspect with a garden tool. But the attacker ends up beating the clerk to the ground. A customer stepped in to pull the attacker off, who then ran away. Nearby businesses hope the video sends a message to criminals. Youre always being watched. And you never know if the guy next to you is not going to approve what youre doing and youre not going to intimidate people. I feel they were very brave to help their fellow citizen and neighborhood people. We need pour people like that. Fortunately, the clerk only suffered minor injuries. San jose detectives hope someone will recognize the suspect from the Surveillance Video and give them a call. A big win for antiabortion advocates. Today the u. S. Supreme court ruled against buffer zones designed to keep protesters away from abortion clinics. The justices decided that a Massachusetts Law which kept protesters 35 feet away from clinics violates the first amendment. Last year, San Francisco supervisors unanimously approved a similar ordinance. Supervisor dave campos was the author of the ordinance. He said patience and staff at clinics were being harassed before the buffer zone went in. We saw antichoice extremists that were coming in, intimidating women as they were going into the clinic, harassing people, trying to block their entrance. Really scaring the people who work here. Antiabortion activists disagree and say the harassment claims are exaggerated. The lawyers are now are taking another look at San Franciscos ordinance. Still ahead here at 11 00, its a fun game you. Mentally prepare yourself, because next week, oakland will lift its ban on pinball. For 80 years, the city has banned pinball machines. I know. If youre wondering why, so did we. Nbc bay areas ian call figures out why the city is finally changing the law. Reporter if you think all pinball machines are the same, just ask michael sheets. Theyre kind of like snowflakes. Theyre all different. Reporter he is the founder of the Pinball Museum in alameda. Hell tell you their make, model, and their story, as well as their dark past in the bay area. You see, about 80 careers ago, people used to put these in bars and wager on the results. When you see the machines, and you know how they work, you kind of go well, what else could it be . Reporter some of the first pinball machines had similar features to modern day machines like a ball shooter and a bumper. There are no flippers on the side to control it with so the city said it was gambling and bandit. A game of chance rather than skill, this machine here was confiscated by Oakland Police in the 1930s. Instead of being destroyed, it was brought to alameda and given to alameda policemen as a gift, i presume. Reporter many of them with the original signage, asking players to refrain from gambling. And years later, a major change to the game. In 1947, gottlieb came up with this concept of a flipper. And they didnt know exactly how to do it. So they put six of them on. Reporter the ban was rarely enforced and forgotten about over the years, until recently. Councilmembers discovered the pinball ban as they pushed to outlaw internet sweepstakes gamble manage the county. Theyll dress the old and new gambling next tuesday. Pinball fans say its about time. There is a lot of old laws on the books that need to be removed. So theyve come across it. I guess its time to remove it. Bring back pinball. This is going to be replaced by high pressure, strengthening during the day saturday. And by the time we head to sunday and monday, now were talking mid to upper 90s for the trivalley. And around downtown san jose, close to 90 on monday. Youre seeing that on the sevenday forecast at the bottom of the screen. Early next week, those temperatures really starting to climb on up. For tomorrow, pretty comfortable. 78 degrees in san jose. 85 degrees in saratoga. You can see San Francisco in the mid60s. Napa and up towards santa rosa up to close to 80 tomorrow.
