The quake was centered in the Atlas Mountains but there is widespread damage up to 40 miles away. Tonight rescue crews are racing to find more survivors stuck in the rubble. Security footage showing the rumbling, the shaking and the screaming as a 6. 2 magnitude earthquake struck morocco. They are now struggling to reach survivors thought to be buried beneath the rubble. It is the most powerful tremor to hit morocco in more than 100 years. Suddenly we saw dishes and other things fixed to the wall. We were unable to sit or stand. Then we fled outside. Several americans were hurt in that earthquake. Last year morocco drew nearly 11 million visitors. Now visitors are among the survivors terrified in a foreign country. One man moved his family from washington, d. C. Last week. He and his wife panic. The way the doors are here in morocco, you have to have a key to unlock it. So i couldnt even get the key in as my wife was going through the door, she lost her balance and ended up hurting her knee. Many tourists joined the locals staying outside. Many families state side waiting to see if their loved ones are safe. And the effects of that quake are being felt, too. A restaurant in San Francisco tells us they have been trying to get in touch with their family members impacted by this earthquake. The chef here and Restaurant Owner says with telephone lines town, it was tough to get in touch with his family members, inclouding his sister. Saturday is one of our busier nights. College football starts today. I dont know if we will be open tomorrow. The manager says there was so much water outside his store, it looked like a swamp. It did. The city of santa clara working to repair the break. Crews say it could be hours before that is turned back on. We know what closed one of the airport terminals for an hour tonight. A tsa employee discovered a suspicious package. Around 4 00 a. M. , terminal two was shut down as a bomb tech examined that box. Nothing was found and the terminal reopened a year later. Safety and crime continues to be the focus for many People Living in oakland today. Dozens of people attended a community and safety meeting. This was a line to get into this meeting. Many people told us they wanted to hear from leaders to address whats being done. Discussion came after a man was shot and killed overnight not far from Martin Luther king elementary. This Business Owner came because shes frustrated with crime. Customers are not even coming. Theyre not able to feel comfortable parking their cars because if they park for five minutes their stuff will get stolen from their car. This was the line outside before the doors opened. Traffic enforcement and also funded six new Police Academies over the next two years. He faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. An investigation is underway after police shot a man in the east bay. This happened yesterday afternoon in san pablo. A woman called police for a Mental Health check on her husband. Police say the man began throwing bricks at officers.
