"early today" starts right now. >> good monday morning. i'm amyman mohyeldin. >> i'm frances rivera. a lot of us waking up to the news that janet reno has died. she was at the center of many storms in the clinton administration, including the raid and the fight over elian gonzalez. >> first, presidential politics. hours away from americans heading to the polls to decide the country's next commander in chief. late breaking news has thrown a massive twist into the race. james comey telling congress he sees no evidence to change his conclusion that hillary clinton should not face charges over her handling of classified information. agents had reviewed all e-mails to and from clinton found on the personal device of anthony wein weiner, the estranged husband of huma abedin. donald trump after initially celebrating the inquiry called the latest twist further evidence of a rigged system. >> the investigations into her crimes will go on for a long, long time. the rank and file special agents at the fbi won't let her get away with these terrible crimes. right now, she's being protected by a rigged system. you can't review 650,000 e-mails in eight days. you can't do it, folks. hillary clinton is guilty. she knows it, the fbi knows it. the people, the people know it. and now it's up to the american people to deliver justice at the ballot. >> a senior law enforcement official says the fbi's review found nearly all the e-mails were duplicates of ones previously seen by fbi agents. but how much did the investigation impact the millions of early votes cast so far. over 42 million votes, early votes, that is, have already been cast nationwide, and our brand-new nbc news survey monkey poll shows clinton holding a six-point lead over trump. that's unchanged from last week. tonight, clinton will effectively end her campaign with a closing two-minute ad set to air in primetime. one in which the candidate speaks straight to the camera on the theme of bringing people together. that ad alone should reach about 20 million viewers at home. the clinton campaign celebrated the latest fbi revelation. however, clinton herself did not react to the news despite several events including a large rally in cleveland with none other than the city's own king jam james. but she did underscore the importance of tomorrow's turnout. >> we've arrived at a moment of reckoning in this election. our core values as americans are being tested. i know there's a lot of frustration and even anger in this election season. i see it. i hear it. sometimes, you know, i'm the subject attorney general, has died due to complications from parkinson's. her family confirmed her death to nbc news this morning. nbc's pete williams has more on the trail blazer's remarkable life. >> the washington after serving as a miami prosecutor for 15 years. barely a month later, she approved an fbi raid on a texas religious cult fearing children were abused. 75 people were killed in a resulting watch as kohlhepp stood before a judge. >> nobody else would know except the murderer. >> melissa's husband scott was one of their victims. she was pregnant with their son at the time. >> it gives me closure of knowing what happened that day. it doesn't bring the peace you would think one would feel. >> scott's mother beverly was also murdered. kohlhepp's alleged role was discovered, investigators say, when they found kala brown locked and chained in a storage container on his property last week. brown and her boyfriend had been missing since august. authorities announced they identified remains found in another shallow grave as carver's. >> the cause of death is multiple gun shot wounds. >> they say he continues to cooperate, but as for a motive, so far they've offered few clues into
