Mission rosettas journey began a decade ago, from Mission Control in germany, to viewing party across america, scientists and space watchers were overswroi ove overjoyed. And in some cases overwhelmed. Rosetta chased comet 67p for 4 billion miles, just recently getting close enough to take a landing site and take a selfie. But touching down was anything but easy. The comet is relatively small, barely wider than the islands of manhattan. It has a rough surface covered in cliffs and craters, low gravity and it is constantly spinning. I think it was bold. Landrieu insists it is not about politics. They may be focused on politics. Im focused on policy. Reporter even if the pipeline approval makes it to president obamas desk, white house advisers may again recommend a veto. I think it is fair to say our our view of these kinds of proposals has not changed. Reporter for six years, the pipeline stalled over environmental concerns, sending oil 1100 miles through the middle of the u. S. And there is a court case pending in nebraska over the ro route. The president is waiting for action to pan out in nebraska and wants all the issues to be resolved. Reporter the senate could vote tuesday leaving it in president obamas hands by the middle of next week. But first they have got to get one or both of these plans off capitol hill. In new york, it was high stakes on a high rise. People from all over Lower Manhattan craned their heads and watched. Hundreds of feet in the air, two window washers held on for dear life. Their broken scaffolding hanging sideways from the tallest building. Then it was new yorks finest to the rescue. Nbcs Stephanie Gosk has more. Reporter the tallest building in the country, 68 floors up, and one side of the scaffolding gave way. Two window washers left dangling. Both experienced workers, seen earlier in the day in pictures posted on social media. At 12 42, the call came in, more than 100 new york city firefighters responded. The department tweeted this photo from inside, an up close look at the terrifying angle of the scaffolding. The First Priority was to secure the two workers. They dropped rope down to additionally secure them. Reporter then rescuers, had a choice, try to raise it through the roof or cut through the thick glass with the saw. They chose the safest option. But not an easy one. Are you worried about anybody below . The guys up there are secure, not going anywhere at that point. Theyre going to take worker number one into the building. In 24 hours, the temps drop from the 80s to the 40s in brownsville, texas. In jackson, mississippi, from 79 degrees to 45. In charleston, west virginia, 75 down to 41. Thats the 34degree difference. Thats what is going to occur shortly if it isnt already in portland, oregon. Were under a winter storm warning here. This is the next storm. Moisture is already moving in. And were going to watch in portland, sleet and snow mix, probably over to mostly snow during the day. And then maybe mixing later this evening. We could see three to seven inches in portland, oregon, of snow and sleet, mixture and little bit of ice. It is very unusual. There are only snowfall records for the city, usually like november 11th for a trace, and inch of snow, like the 12th or Something Like that. This extremely early for this much snow in the portland, oregon, area. It is going to extend through bend and pendleton, pocatello, Salt Lake City and yellow stone nailed with heavy snow. One to two feet there. As far as the forecast goes, the worst off at portland. 38 degrees now. Your temperature will drop and precipitation starts falling and it is going to be a snowy, icy day.
