destruction in iraq, disaster. we can do much better." >> in one e-mail from 2014, friend he respects but said he'd rather not vote for her, and he later blasted her for not being honest about her private e-mail server. and some breaking news overnight, a united airlines flight from newark, new jersey, to san diego was diverted because of a potential security concern. this photo from the tarmac there in denver where the plane landed, a passenger saying he was told there was something on that flight that shouldn't be there. no word on what that was. the plane was cleared, checked and resumed its flight after the to the weather now. tropical storm julia is churning off the coast of the carolinas. it has already brought heavy rain to south carolina causing street flooding but surfers braved the rain to take advantage of those huge waves in the charleston area. the biggest risk of flooding is in a few hours at high tide. the storm could be stuck on the south carolina/georgia border until tomorrow. radar shows the storm spinning just offshore, still packed with lots of moisture. accuweather's justin povick is checking it. justin. >> diane, kendis, thanks and good morning to you, as well. we're tracking julia. once again, not really moving around a whole lot, meandering off the south carolina coastline and more so the movement here over the next couple of days, extremely slow off toward the north and that is going to cause more heavy rainfall and that could lead to flash flooding. other problems will include very large waves and some minor beach erosion. diane, kendis, back to you. >> all right, our thanks to justin. china right now. the super typhoon made landfall overnight bringing strong winds and rain. it caused thousands to lose power and forced the evacuation of about 30,000 residents. those winds resulted in this extremely odd scene. a giant inflatable moon came loose rolling through traffic in the city of fuzhou bouncing through the streets and over cars, as well. a white house plan has the u.s. accepting more refugees in by the end of the year, the u.s. will have accepted 85,000 people from conflict zones around the world. more than 11,000 from syria. now, next year the goal will be 110,000. that's a nearly 30% increase from this year. secretary of state john kerry has already briefed congress about this plan. new this morning for the second time this week, russian hackers have released confidential information about olympic athletes. the data of about 25 athletes was compromised. data of gymnast simone biles and venus and serena williams was hacked and posted online along with other athlete, as well. and there's new fallout over north carolina's law limping protections for lgbt people. the atlantic coast conference says it will not play any of its athletic championships in the state until that law is repealed. that includes this season's football title game, which was to be played in charlotte in december. the conference's exit follows the ncaa's move to relocate seven championship events because of that law, as well. so a power outage disrupted life on campus for thousands of students at rutgers university in new jersey. they spent the night in cots and several gyms after being forced out of their dorms. about 90 buildings are affected including more than three dozen residents' halls. the kids say they could be out of their rooms for days. a, quote, internal equipment problem is being blamed. the first family got a sneak peek yesterday at the only museum dedicated entirely to black history. african-american history and culture in washington, d.c. features thousands of artifacts from slavery to freedom. you'll see everything from a slave cabin to michael jackson's fedora and muhammad ali's gloves. president obama will return for the dedication ceremony when the museum officially opens later this month. and the first african-american to ever be the librarian of congress has been sworn in. dr. carla hayden is also the first woman to hold the post position, she was the ceo of baltimore's library system. hayden will serve a ten-year term. ahead, inside uber's new self-driving cars. the samsung galaxy note 7 scandal might just be the beginning. a different phone is being investigated for possibly causing a fire. plus, in and out in less so it took four guys dressed all in black about 40 seconds to smash the glass on several jewelry cases and steal the high value merchandise. now, police in houston say they made off with millions of dollars of jewelry. after the heist, they drove off in a black nissan. problem may be growing. the federal government is looking into incidents involving phones other than the galaxy note 7. this as police in florida investigate whether a galaxy s7 caused a car fire. meanwhile, samsung has apologized for the issue in south korea but not in the u.s. and it's not known when a revised note 7 will be approved for use here. well, the trouble isn't over for wells fargo. federal prosecutors are looking at the bank's aggressive sales actually ask for. according to published reports, no decision has been made yet whether to prosecute wells fargo but subpoenas have been issued. and ford is moving all of its small car production to mexico. the michigan plant currently making those models is expected to make largermore profitable vehicles, so there won't be found the woman and the suspect as well as two bodies. the suspect later led investigators to a third set of remains. the homeless man is now in jail on an abduction charge. a decision on additional charges will be made today. and in phoenix, the last of the police officers hurt when a car plowed into them has been released from the hospital. the rookie officer suffered a concussion and is recovering at behind bars. he is described as a homeless transient under the influence 6 drugs or alcohol at the time of the incident. a university of north carolina football player accused of rape is now out on bail after turning himself in. allen artis is accused of assaulting delaney robinson who went public with her allegations earlier this week. artis is suspended from the team indefinitely. in ohio a reminder of the shooting of 12-year-old tamir rice has been moved. the gazebo where rice was shot dead by a police officer is being taken apart and moved to a museum in chicago. tamir was holding a realistic looking toy gun when he was killed. the city of cleveland settled the suit brought by his family for more than $6 million. the officer was not charged. now to a dramatic rescue caught on camera in north carolina. total strangers risked their lives to save a man trapped in his burning pickup after a head-on collision with a school bus. the good samaritans worked alongside police officers to put out the flames and free the driver. they were all then publicly recognized for their bravery. another one for some marathoners who were delayed by a train. you remember that delay. it happened over the weekend on sunday during a marathon in pennsylvania. >> that's right. for nine minutes they had to wait by the train, and it ruined some of their chances to qualify for next year's boston marathon. officials had tried to make their case to the organizers in boston, but the reply was, sorry, adjusted times will not be accepted. >> yikes. okay, thursday, today, marks
