We are seeing more of the snow coming in across the metro area along 470 and extending east on i70 into elbert county. This is going to gradually fill in and increase in intensity. Still snowing pretty good over the wyoming, nebraska panhandle. Sounds like a western movie, ddesnt it. It came out of the west and we will have about 610inch of snow in about 24 hours from now. Reporter you can so e the flashing lights are going to you can see the flashing lights at i70 ann ward road. We could have a lane blocked in the next few minutes. Lindsay Watts. She has a neat new tool from cdot to keep us up to date. Reporter thats right. Even though we havent gotten a lot of snow, just a little bit of flurries in the last few minutes that started, cdot has quite a few plows out on the road, so the goal is to keep the drive as smooth as possible for you. And maybe youre wondering whaa cdot is doing on the highways around where you live . Well, now you can get the information with just the click of a button. We want to bring up a brand new feature on cdots website. It has nearly 1,000 plows and the
Department Says that about 850 of them are now equipped with tracking devices. If you click on an individual plow icon, you can get more you can find out where its headed, its current speed and the distance that its traveled in hour. Cdot says this is more about transparency for the public, and also helpful for them to see the picture. You can head over to our website thedenverchannel. Com to download it or go to the cdot page. So the snow is coming . Reporter yes, you guys have been very helpful guiding me here and ttere and where to stand. You have been here all night. Yes, and all day, watch me age. Reporter okay. Let me go over to the wall of monitors. We have 26degrees in town and down at the airport. Winds are out of the east and southeast, but the snow is gradually cover the metro area. The situation around the nation, the storm system is producing a lot of rain and snow down in new mexico, it is going to track out into western kansas, but its going to go pretty quick and once it does it will set us up with a good up slope but not tap into the gulf of mexico because it will move too fast, but between now and about 4 30, some thunderstorms, by early tomorrow morning, thats translating with most of the energy out to the east of us, ill do it one more time near omaha, then its going to move farther to the east and then well be done with the moisture tomorrow morning. Mountains will still get some know. How much snow . Maybe a foot18 inches in the metro area snow about 36. Denver to northeast, 610 down to douglas county, elbert county, and another foot to foot and a half in the mountains today and tomorrow afternoon. Reporter i want to show you some of the snowfall totals that have come in far over the last 24 hours. Glen wood springs had 4 inches. Closer to town, lakewood, little more than two and a half inches as well as golden there. Not a major snow maker for us, but yes, it is going to continue to come in. And as we zoom in, this shows you a little bb pinpointed as what were dealing with. You can see in the darker purple it will come in which means for your commute home its going to be a little bit different than what youre icier roads and snow packed areas down toward the palmer divide and this is going to stick around through tuesday, which means tomorrow mornings commute could be difficult. The morning as you head out the door, mid 20s, here in the teens in the high county, the warmup is not going to be one at all. 29 is the high in denver and drop overnight tonight even more so from where we were. Upper 20s and low 30s. Mostly in the 20s, and jayson we stay in the 20s over the next couple of days and not until thursday before e hit 40s. Reporter we still have peoria mostly off to the shoulder. You can see on the overall map we have had the bigger problem coliseum, and thats backed up even the eastbound side is backed up. 35 minutes from to 25 to i20 225 to i25. Same thing out near ward road and i70. The southbound side of i25 by 84th avenue the barriers have been lifted, thats why its looking so much better and the wrangler, is driving near allens worth and get into the major roads. Looks cold out there. 6 51 the chase is on for the broncoss they are calling santa clarr home for the next week. Sports anchor jamar reporter it has to be the biggest week for broncos. The way they got there was wild. Who knew that broncos
Peyton Manning would have led them. 18th in the league, yet the broncos are playing in the super bowl. He told aspens chris berming yesterday. I felt like our defense has something special. They have led us to this point. They have been great from the get go. For me, its been a unique season dealing with some injuries. The best thing ive done, chris, is to stay in the moment and just focus on, what do i have to do this week just to take it like the old cliche says, take it 1 day at a time more week. Reporter time will tell, will we bring home the next lombardi trophy . We were the under dog before. Reporter thats right, we have been the under dog for most of the season, so they play that up well. Thank you, mike. Taking a look outside out its 6 54 denver seven looks like the brady bunch. Were going to start with
Lindsay Watts with a downtown look at conditions. Reporter were looking at i25 and spear oulevard. `these roads are clear, traffic is moving smoothly, the plows are out. The most trouble we have had is standing up on the sidewalks, so be sure to walk with caution and take it easy on the roads. Reporter im jayson gruenauer in lakewood and sixth avenue. The roads are just wet. They have some mag chloride from the plows moving through cdot doing a pretty good job. Watch spots specifically along some of the side street, some snow and icy conditions as well mentioned. Now were going to send it over the jayson lupher. Reporter take a look to and arapahoe. At i70. It goes out to stapleton, and some delays from a crash on share sheridan. We are seeing the winds shifting around and coming out of the east and the northeast. Thats going to increase the up slope, so by mid afternoon we out at fort collins, rain and thunderstorm up in
North Western kansas and that will continue into the
Early Morning rush hour tomorrow. So this afternoon and tomorrow morning is certainly going to be much more of an issue than right now. The broncos are in
