think of own kids. >> i was disgusted. i can't believe someone could do that to their own kid. >> reporter: police are trying to figure out why, but court documents show the couple collected social security for their legally blind and autistic son. when police questioned the father, he "appeared more concerned with how his son's hospitalization would affect his social security payments." no one was at the house this afternoon. his parents told investigators they fed their son seven to foods like cheeseits and doritos. doctors compared the teen's conditions to someone who spent years in a concentration camp. >> i just hope he is all right and he makes it. >> reporter: and it sounds like this teen will have a very long road to recovery. according to court documents, doctors say it will take four weeks just to make sure his life is no longer at risk and an additional six months to make sure he gets th nutrition and get him back up to an appropriate weight. vanessa hall posted bond this afternoon. reporting live in longmont, liz gelardi, denver 7. >> that is a tough one. it is abuse like that that is not uncommon for children with disabilities. they are more likely to be abused than those without disabilities. one in five children with autism will be physically abused. some signs to watch for, changes in behavior in the child including avoiding certain people and certain arrest has been made in what appears to be a random stabbing. the victim, a regular stabbed as he sat there at the bar. just tonight, police made the arrest but are not releasing any details saying they are investigating. a benefit will be held saturday to pay for the medical expenses. this photo is flurry but take a look at it. this dangerous suspect went to a best buy employee, tried to he wasn't successful and a witness chased him off. and a terrifying attempted robbery at knife point in denver. a woman was with her children at second and quebec when a man jumped into her car, tried to take her purse. she describes him as in his 30s but this might really help identify him. she says he has 999 tattooed on his neck. your help is needed to help find this man. involved in a ransom plot. a victim was kidnapped and the kidnappers demanded half a million dollars. $200,000 was dropped off and the victim was released. three men wererested when police used phone tracking and aerial surveillance to find them. investigatoos are still looking for what led up to all of this, but we do know one of the suspects may have worked for new tonight, what a difference just a couple of weeks city chose not to renew their grow licens citing odor issues and complaints from neighbors. >> it is a nasty odor. i'm glad they can't grow it anymore. i just don't like it. >> reporter: this is the first time denver has ever denied a grow license based on complaints. but starbud says their shop is thriving. an attorney for starbuds says they hope to one day bring back the green. >> the end game away saying he couldn't bring his service dog into the treatment room though they allowed it for the same procedure a few months ago. % >> honestly, i'm tired of being treated like a second class citizen. >> so, in the case of oral surgery, it is not appropriate to bring an animal into the procedure area. >> reporter: they point to policy citing not permitted during oral surgery procedures. still, he says they try to accommodate allowing the dog to sit behind the patient, but not beside him. >> he helped us to change the policy. but that doesn't mean he gets to determine the exceptions to it. >> reporter: disability rights advocate july riskii says the va may not have broken any laws but they could have handled it better. would be an interactive process. talk to the person. and have a dialogue. and, treat the person as an equal adult. >> you know, i don't want to walk into the va one time, get something done, walk in the next time and be told i can't get it done because i have my dog with me. >> reporter: and vail did not get the procedure done last week. the va will pay for him to get community treatment outside the ?a to get that procedure done. reporting live, jaclyn allen, about this. now it is official, fort collins announced it will host its own 10k. it stretches all over the city there. the race is put on by those who put on the boulder boulder. now, that one kicks off this summer on memorial day. the fortitude rate as the fort collins race is called will end the summer on labor day. today. >> any race at altitude in colorado, above 5,000 feet, you have to have some sort of fortitude or boldness to be able to run. so they have both. >> and much like the bolder boulder, this race will end inside the university's football stadium meaning you get to run inside the brand new csu stadium. trackerr7 flying over roxboro state park. this fire burned about 20 acres. he had to be saved. not only did firefighters do it, they managed to protected $45,000 worth of hay from the flames. the steer and the hay all safe tonight thanks to their quick work. wow, and those firefighters have really been on it the last few months here as we have had fires pop up here and there. very dry conditions across colorado. very nice conditions out there now. temperatures in the 60s for the most part across the front range. and, as we go in through tonight, we will have overnight lows in the 50s here in the denver area. 30s and 40s for the mountains. also 60s down into southeast colorado. but, things are going to start to cool down progressively as we go through the next few months so i wanted to point out that the earliest freeze we have had here in denver was september 8 which would be tomorrow, 1962. if you can imagine it. but, our average is october 7. now, when we are talking about snow, the earliest was september 3, 1961. and the average is around october 19, we were just talking about this. but we will be warming things upptomorrow into the upper 80s . a cooldown coming on friday. a very nice weekend in store. and then, another more significant cold front into that is why i'm bringing out the frost and the snow, because we will start to see that cooler air sneaking in here our satellite radar picture s. very quiet. cloudiness moving across colorado. as we zoom out, you can see rain all the way from new mexico back in we have had flooding rains here, especially southern arizona. remnants of newton was once a hurricane, now, all this moisture coming up in this direction. the question being will it make its way into colorado? no, i don't think so. we have a little potentially a little bit of cloud cover throogh southern colorado. we go in through tonight, watch it as it completely fades away and we have a cold front coming through friday. that cold front is going to pick up that moisture and shove that moisture into the central thunderstorms the next few days but we are not going to see any of that, especially through thursday. just in time for the game. mostly sunny skies by 5:00. a few clouds by 9:00 with 70 degrees. very comfortable and through tomorrow night, if you are going to the game. overnighted lows tonight will ?e in the 50s and then back up into the upper 80s with a lot of sunshine. if you are head today the bus stop early, 599degrees. partly cloudy skies. going home, 87, northeastly sunny. then, we will drop into the 70s for overnight lows in the mid 50s with partly cloudy skies tomorrow afternoon highs once again closer to 90 degrees than not. we will have 90 for grand junction tomorrow. 70s toward telluride. and 70s and 80s even up into the mountains tomorrow. so we are starting to warm things up a little bit across the eastern plains. temperature s in the 90s and the frontal boundary comes on through. 87 tomorrow, 77 friday. that sets us up for great sunshine on the way. here is the most significant cold front. 75 monday to 65 on tuesday. then we will have 70 into wednesday with partly cloudy skies. that tuesday though, with that high in the 60s and the rain, it is going to be a chilly feeling day. but, some of those stats when you look at them, you think oh, we have already passed
