Sioux city police chief doug young says officers were called to the valley Park Apartments near leif erikson park to investigate a robbery. They smelled marijuana. That led them to an apartment where they found eight people and guns. The eight were all handcuffed. Young says while waiting for more officers to take the suspects to jail. Officers let 18 year old Isaiah Mothershed sit on a couch while he was still handcuffed with his hands behind his back. The chief says mothershed pulled a 40 caliber handgun from inside the couch and shot officer ryan more its moritz on the inner thigh of his left leg. 3 officer moritz then lunged towards mothershed to secure the weapon and another round was fired off at that time.
