americans.sot gausman on why trump is still allowed to come 3 during trump's visit to west high tomorrow... peaceful protesters plan to march silently outside the school. we'll have full coverage of trump's visit and the protests... tomorrow on siouxland news. 3 donald trump not the only republican presidential hopeful planning to visit siouxland over the next few days former pennsylvania senator rick santorum has several stops scheduled in the area. he'll be in galva touring quad city corn processing friday morning at 9 a- m... followed by a stop at the blue bunny ice cream parlor in le mars a presidential politics conference at dordt college in sioux center and the northwest iowa republican consortium in orange city. 3 florida senator marco rubio will be in sioux city this weekend as well. the g- o- p presidential hopeful will hold a happy hour event at bev's on the river in sioux city friday evening. that event's set to get underway at 4 o'clock friday afternoon. 3 and former hewlett- packard c- e- o carly fiorina will also be in northwest iowa this weekend. her campaign says she'll be at the same g- o- p rally as santorum... this friday in orange city. she'll follow that with a 10 a- m event at the stoney creek inn in sioux city on saturday 3 sioux city's school board also closing the book on the last step before construction can begin on a new elementary school on the northside.the school district and the last of eight homeowners in the footprint of the new bryant elementary school have agreed on a purchase price for that house.seven other homeowners had already agreed to sell their homes... which the district plans to demolish this spring.the homeowner was holding out... feeling the district's offered price for his home was too low.now the district has agreed to his counter- offer... settling on a price of 214 - thousand dollars. 3 "... we've been able to come to an agreement with t homeowner and not use eminent domain."with that settlement now complete... demolition of those eight homes will take place in the spring... with the new school scheduled to open in 2017. 33 it was a scary moment thth morning atatioux city's iowa national guard readiness center. fire crews were called there just after 8- 30 for a fire. after a ten minute search for that fire... most of the fire crews were cleared from the scene. an investigation determined the source of the alarm was a faulty light ballast. there was no fire... and everyone at the center was back at work a short time later. 3 ththnew pork processing plant under construction in the bridgeport industrial park could be getting more help from the city of sioux city. the city council is considering approving a tax exemption for the new seaboard- triumph pork plant. that plant will be the biggest employer in sioux city when it opens in january of 2017... adding 12- hundred new jobs. details on the possible exemption aren't available right now... but could come up at the hearing on the issue that was unanimously approved tonight by the council. council member rhonda capron is excited about the possibilities the plant is bringing. 3 "this is part of a huge...huge developement for us. probably the biggest in sioux city history at this point.
