We begin with new information found on a hiker found dead. 50yearold marie sanner was a teacher at an Oakland School for disadvantaged children. She disappeared while hiking earlier yesterday. She is the second female hiker to be found in recent days as john fowler reports some mount tam hikers say theyre worried. Reporter were in Mount Tamalpais, the sleeping princess of indian legend, very popular today. This is the very area where two women died hiking, just a few days and a few hundred yards apart. Theyre saying its unrelated but its too much of a coincidence. Reporter she fears someone is on the trail. Pushing these women over the edge. Reporter magdalene that had been missing two weeks. No signs of trauma, toxicology tests incomplete. Then about a half mile away, searchers found 50yearold marie sanners body. The mill valley woman had been missing a few hours. Both women were down a rocky drainage like this, common in the area. It shocked me and worried me, because i also hike around mound tam. Reporter hikers say this has upped their safety concerns. They say bright clothing, a whistle for a gps satellite tracker can mean life or death. I hope it doesnt deter people. I hope it gives us more of an appreciation of what we have, and to be safe and aware. Reporter investigators tell us there was nothing that links these deaths and no obvious signs of foul play. Yet they also tell me they have not yet ruled out anything. On Mount Tamalpais, john fowler, ktvu channel 2 news. A 70yearold man and a 66 yearold brother will be tried together in a cold case murder committed 25 years ago. A judge entered a not guilty plea for Robert Zimmer today. This man here well show you, david zimmer and his brother, are charged in the death of davids wife kathy. She was found strangled in her car back in 1989. Investigators say david zimmer got more than 400,000 after his wifes death from the sale of their home and life insurance. Prosecutors reopened this case in january and showed these photos of a distinctive quilt found with the body. A giants fan accused of throwing a fire work in the crowd pleaded not guilty today. Prosecutors say he threw an m80 into the stands at the giants dodgers game wednesday night. No one was seriously hurt. His bail was reduced today to 100,000. He is ordered to stay 150 yards away from at t park. A Traffic Accident in Pleasant Hill set up a frightening chain of events at sees candy store. Investigators say two cars crashed in front of the store near allen drive and that collision sent one of the vehicles careening almost all the way into the store. It was actually quite crowded. There were 11 employees and probably as many customers. Two people were taken to the hospital as a precaution. Power has been restored tonight to a piedmont neighborhood. The hillside somehow became oversaturated, sending trees crashing down in the process. Reporter they used a chainsaw to cut a tree down. It caused trees to drop into the power line. Well, i just know that around 11 00, power went out. So the kids at home reported that the commuters arent working, right . No power. Reporter its not known what exactly caused the mudslide, but clearly some kind of water leak from above loosened the earth. Officials say they have talked to the owner. We say it looks like it came from your property. If it did, youre going to be responsible for it. Reporter the homeowner told us he doesnt know what caused the leak. I looked and its a big mess. So i mean, do you think its related to your property or the property up here . Well, im not really sure. I dont have enough information to say. But its thats on my property. Reporter this was the second slide in the area in two years. City Officials Say the previous one was caused by faulty drainage at the home next door. Two years ago, because the slide came from private property, the city cleared it, got the road open again. And then they were billed for the citys costs. Reporter east bay says this was not caused by a leaky sewage line but it could have been leaky irrigation or a home water line. Almost a week after fire destroyed a former san jose tv station, a fire official was able to say that no one was killed in the fire. The painstaking search of the debris found no evidence of human remains. The building had been used for shelter by dozens of homeless people. A 55yearold man has been charged with starting the fire. The building has been turned over to the city for demolition of whats left. In San Francisco, the mayor honored the firefighters who helped battle the Massive Mission bay fire last month. The mayor said the fire hydrants were essential in the firefight in mission bay, but those hydrants dont cover all of the city. A bond measure is on the june ballot. If its approved, city leaders say the emergency system will stand. Investigators say a victim was walking his dog at 22nd street at about 3 a. M. When he was approached by two other men. One of them grabbed the dog. The other took out a knife. After a struggle, the suspect let the dog go and ran away. Thats when the dog owner discovered the animal had been stabbed.
