In a letter earlier this month, jones said he was resigned to his fate and didnt believe he had the right to ask for forgiveness. All we could see was him breathing a little bit. And then you know took him 14 minutes to pass. And he did give a statement that was about two minutes long that was very focused on lacy. I dont think it will be closure for her. But at least she doesnt have to come back every certain number of years to give a victim impact statement in front of the parole board and relive it over and over. Disaster strikes. A 7. 8 magnitude earthquake among the most catastrophic Natural Disasters in memory. 2015 earthquake in the heart of the himalayans. We are hearing from survivors. Two years ago, on april 25th. Disaster strikes. A 7. 8 magnitude earthquake hitting nepal, killing nearly 9,000 people. Trapping climbers on the worlds highest mountain. When i saw this thing, i figured thats it. It is over. There is no surviving. Reporter american filmmaker at everest, base camp covering a team of climbers when the earthquake hit. At only 17,000 feet, base camp is normally considered safe. It is about, 11 00 or so, all sitting there, hanging out. Then, all of a sudden the earth moves look that. It gets violent. Very hard to stand up. Reporter michael managed to capture a few heart stopping moments as the avalanche thunders down the mountain. I saw this giant wave basically coming. Just a massive wall, like Empire State Building of ice, rock. See ice and rock shooting out at incredible speed. He and climbers scramble for whatever they can find. Looks like a horror movie. It was 7, 8 second from when i saw that. The impact would happen. I yell get down. He prepares for the worst. So this is how i die, huh . But he didnt. When i popped up, everything was gone. He was lucky. 19 people died on everest that day. Among the dead, three americans. Michael was suffering from concussion, broken nose. Realized i was a casualty. See the way people look at you. I just had a lot of blood coming out. He managed to hike down the mountain to safety, taken by helicopter to kathmandu two days later. Michaels narrow escape documented in the smithsonian channel, nightmare on everest, but the climbers on everest werent the only ones tlapd trapped by the quake. California native was in nepal on month long adventure. Beautiful trails go from one village to the next. That are full of teahouses. Its really beautiful area. She was in this teahouse in the langtang valley when the earthquake hit. We all started running out of the building. When we got outside, the earth was just rolling and shaking. Reporter but the terror wasnt over. And somebody screamed, avalanche it was snow and rock and ice and it was hurdling down the mountain at a velocity you cant fathom. We all turned around and started running for our lives. Reporter she survived. But the village decimated. Cut off from the rest of the world with food and water and other basics in short supply. Where the cave we set up like a little triage in the caves. We just took all we took all of the wounded people into the cave. And, im sorry, we had to like try to figure out how to give comfort and take care of people that were badly injured that needed like professionals, not us. His lawyer claiming that the execution of jones earlier in the evening was inhumane, cruel, and caused the man an unusual amount of pain. And says both jones and williams were morbidly obese. He said the lethal drugs might also be ineffective. The state said these claims were false and ultimately went ahead with the execution. Now, arkansas hadnt had an execution for nearly 12 years. Then the government realized that one of the drugs they use for lethal injections was set to expire on april 30th. The governor scheduled four double executions in 11 days. Four have been put on hold. One inmate was killed last week. The last man set to be executed thursday. Diane, kendis, i have a feeling we will be talking abut this throughout the week. One of the big issues, the drugs they use in the execution are hard to come by. Why are they in short supply . Diane, exactly. In the 31 states where executions are legal, delays are often common due to drug shortages. This kind of rush to push executions like we are seeing in arkansas is fairly rare.
