We are going to to terry moran who is here, and they have decided to leave that hold in place. Reporter thats right. So as of tieponight, the appeal court in the ninth circuit has decided that president trumps immigration ban for those seven majoritymuslim countries cannot go forward. It is halted. Everything has ground to a halt. President trump loses at this stage, and right now, the courts are now going to take a closer look at everything. The reason the court did this is they said the government wont automatically win this thing, and they cast considerable doubt that what he has done is lawful in keeping with that immigration law, and they said if they allow this immigration ban in seven majority countries to go forward, the state of washington and the state of minnesota who brought this case would be irreparably harmed, and the likeliness of this succeeding is not great. So they said its not going to go forward now. Lets take a deep breath. The District Courts will keep looking at the underlying executive order. Precisely. They will have basically a trial. Thats what courts are for. They take the case at first. They will hear evidence. The judge there, judge robart will hear evidence, hell hear argument, and say, okay. Now i have the full picture of what the president intended to do of whether that squares with our law, and how it affects the the state of washington and minnesota. In the meantime, this decision to deny the stay can be brought to the Supreme Court . It can. This is something the government must decide really on short order whether or not this is so important that they want to take it to the Supreme Court. The person who makes that decision, president donald trump, and he is not known to back down from a fight. The problem is on the Supreme Court, its four to four. There is only eight justices since his nominee hasnt been confirmed. If there is a tie, this halt will remain in place until that trial happens. Terry moran, thank you so much. Lets go to jon karl. If this stay remains in place, this restraining order remains in place through the course of this legal challenge, there is not that much time.
