in 5-degree weather in minneapolis. then this video from, where else, at l.a.x., a passenger doing yoga right there in the departure lounge. >> namaste. we have got team coverage this morning and we start with eva pilgrim who is at new york's laguardia airport. eva, namaste, good morning. >> that was such a good use of namaste. >> it's perfect. >> reporter: good morning, guys. the last-minute catching a flight, good luck to you and let's get right over to rob for the travel forecast. hey, man. >> hey, dan, two storms we're dealing with, west coast and east coast. the one on the east coast now rolling in somewhat cooler air, mostly rain here. this is what brought the mixture of snow and sleet to chicago and milwaukee. we've got some advisories up just west of new york city. going to be heavy rain along the i-95 corridor especially right around noontime so if you're doing last-minute shopping or traveling this morning, it is going to be miserable but drying out later on this afternoon. now to the west coast we go, actually, first of all, some freezing rain before that warm front comes through, be aware if you're in upstate new york or northwest jersey. as far as the slick roads go there. across the west go we go with this storm coming in, miserable weather across los angeles to las vegas, i-15 this morning. snow across salt lake in through denver. great for ski resorts. difficult travel certainly over the mountain passes. here we go for a blizzard across the dakotas tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. wind on the back side of this, very, very strong with whiteout conditions and maybe some icing across parts of minnesota. we'll talk more about this in the coming minutes. rebecca, back over to you. >> rob, thank you. friends and fans of carrie fisher are offering their prayers for her this morning. the actress going into cardiac arrest on board a flight from london to los angeles, and abc's adrienne bankert joins us from ucla medical center. adrienne, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, rebecca. yeah, she's "star wars" royalty, now carrie fisher is in the intensive care unit. there's still a lot of concern for one of hollywood's most well-known leading ladies. this morning, carrie fisher surrounded by family after suffering a medical emergency on a flight from london to los angeles. >> we have an unresponsive passenger. >> reporter: the iconic actress reportedly stopped breathing just 15 minutes before landing. her fellow passengers quickly jumping in to action to help her. >> we have some passengers, nurses assisting the passenger. they're working on her right now. >> reporter: the l.a. fire department rushing to the tarmac to find fisher in cardiac arrest. actress anna akana, who was on that flight, tweeting, "don't know how else to process this but carrie fisher stopped breathing on the flight home. hope she's going to be okay." the medical team providing advanced life support on the way to the hospital where her daughter was seen in this tmz video arriving later in the evening. fisher is now in intensive care. >> i love you. >> i know. >> reporter: the 60-year-old best known for starring in the "star wars" trilogy reprising her timeless role as princess leia in last year's "the force awakens." speaking with amy robach about her character. >> i've been princess leia for 40 years, so, what, i'm going to stop now. i got in character and i've never gotten out again and really i tried everything. >> reporter: the daughter of legendary parents, actress debbie reynolds and '50s pop sensation eddie fisher, was in london as part of an international tour promoting her tell-all biography "the princess diarist." she also appeared on "the graham norton show" and finished up shooting scenes on the amazon prime series "catastrophe." overnight support from fans and friends pouring in including her "star wars" co-star mark hamel tweeting, "as if 2016 couldn't get any worse, sending all our love to carrie fisher." and the man behind chewbacca writing, "thoughts and prayers for our friend and everyone's favorite princess right now." certainly no one like her. her brother todd telling abc news that she's receiving the best of care and that the family is staying positive. dan. >> glad to hear that. adrienne, thank you. for more on this story, let's bring in matthew belloni, who is the executive editor of "the hollywood reporter." he's in our l.a. bureau this morning. matthew, good morning to you. >> good morning. >> she's only 60 years old. do we know if carrie fisher had any recent health concerns? >> we don't know if she had anything heart related or anything related to this particular incident, but she's been very open about some of her other health struggles over the year, everything from depression to alcoholism to some electroshock therapy that she underwent to help with her depression. she's been open about these types of things, some bipolarism as well. it's unrelated -- it's unknown if any of this had anything to do with what happened, but she has had some health issues in the past. >> we know she is involved in the next "star wars" movie. where in that -- where are they in that film in terms of production? >> well, a spokesperson for disney told me yesterday that production on "episode viii" of "star wars" is wrapped, they're finished. that doesn't mean there isn't some voiceover or other ancillary things to be done, but the main filming of the film is over. >> so, if you would, could you talk a little about carrie fisher's historical place in hollywood? >> absolutely. i mean, she may be known around the world as princess leia, but in hollywood she really is royalty, everything from her upbringing with two very famous parents, she starred in a warren beatty movie in high school. in 1973 she was in "shampoo," that was her debut, and she filmed "star wars" when she was 19 years old. it seems like she's been famous forever because she has her entire life, and not only as an actress, she's an accomplished writer, an author, and in hollywood she is a well-known script doctor, meaning she works on screenplays and helps as a writer behind the scenes as much as she is in front of the camera. >> what an incredible career she's had, and let's hope it continues. matthew belloni, we really appreciate your analysis this morning. >> no problem. >> and a reminder, keep it here on abc news and abcnews.com. we'll be updating carrie fisher's condition all day long. rebecca, over to you. >> keeping her in our thoughts this morning. we are turning now to a holiday terror warning. federal authorities taking the move following isis calling for attacks on churches across america. abc's gloria rivera has more from our washington bureau. and good morning to you, gloria. >> reporter: good morning, rebecca. that's right. this new bulletin comes at a time of heightened vigilance around the world after the deadly attack in berlin. the specifics here are deeply troubling as so many plan to attend religious services this christmas sunday. [ sirens ] this morning a new warning from the country's top counterterror teams just as christmas arrives. isis is calling for its supporters to target churches around the u.s. in a joint bulletin fbi and homeland security officials are urging police to remain vigilant during this holiday season after isis on december 21st published a link to a website containing the names and addresses of churches in the u.s. and called on supporters to attack them. >> even a person with no direct ties to a terrorist organization can still represent a threat to this country. >> reporter: the bulletin says the link elicited posts that went further urging sympathizer to carry out so-called aspirational attacks in markets, hotels, coffee shops in the u.s., canada, france and the netherlands. authorities believe the berlin assailant, tunisian migrant anis amri, recorded this video praising the leader of isis days before killing 12 people and injuring 48 more monday when he drove a massive church through the christmas market in berlin. amri was killed in a shoot-out with police friday morning in milan after a manhunt stretching across europe. back here in the u.s., counterterror officials say isis supporters have released similar lists in the past. but none have resulted in a successful attack. in this latest bulletin officials said they are not tracking a specific target at this time. dan. >> gloria, thank you. the other major political and security issue swirling as we head into the holidays involves the holyland, the u.n. security council just passed a measure criticizing israel, the measure the obama administration refused to block. donald trump is now speaking out and abc's mary bruce is on the story from washington. mary, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. yeah, the obama administration going out with a bang delivering a shocking rebuke of israel. the white house allowing that highly symbolic censure to pass through the u.n. the security council passing that measure condemning israel for building settlements in occupied territories, even though there's long-standing policy of shielding israel. now, donald trump had put enormous pressure on the obama administration to veto the resolution, but instead they abstained from voting, and now on twitter trump is making clear he is not happy tweeting as to the u.n., things will be different after january 20th. now, trump is also taking a starkly different position from president obama on another key foreign policy issue this morning, nuclear security. the president-elect is now suggesting adversaries should bring it on welcoming a new nuclear arms race. trump reportedly saying that america will outlast and outmatch any other global power. now, trump's team says that they respect that there is only one president at a time, but that donald trump is certainly not someone who is going to sit back and wait. dan and rebecca. >> certainly not expecting that from him. >> no. >> to sit back and wait. >> interesting to see these differences between the incoming and outgoing president. thank you, mary bruce, in our washington bureau. a lot of other news this morning, and for that, as always, it's over to dr. ron claiborne. >> i knew you were going to say that. >> it's one of those mornings i felt like calling you doctor. >> i could feel it coming. good morning to you, dr. dan harris. rebecca and tony, everyone. >> the doctor is in the house. >> good morning, everyone. we're going to begin in arkansas where the suspect in that road rage incident that killed a 3-year-old boy is behind bars this morning held without bail. 33-year-old greg holmes, who had been hiding ever since the incident last weekend, turned himself in to little rock police. he is accused of firing into a vehicle because he was angry at the driver for not going fast enough. the bullet struck the driver's grandson, seated behind her. police say that after firing that bullet, he told the woman, quote, that's what you get. overseas passengers held hostage by two hijackers who commandeered a libyan plane with 117 people on board now making their way home. the men threatening to blow up the plane, and they were demanding to be flown to malta where they were taken into custody within hours of the landing. the hijackers released their hostages unharmed. authorities say initial exams show that their weapons were fake. and university of oklahoma football star joe mixon is apologizing for punching a woman back in 2014. >> no, never, never okay to, you know, retaliate and hit a woman. >> video of that altercation was released last week. mixon accepted a plea deal and was suspended for one season. he will play in the sugar bowl on january 2nd against auburn. and in california, the first lawsuit has been filed in that deadly warehouse fire in oakland that killed 36 people. the parents of a 20-year-old college student who died in the blaze are blaming the building's owner and tenant saying that their daughter was trapped because of unsafe conditions in that building. and following complaints by some of its dancers, the company that manages the rockettes is saying now that they are not forcing them to perform at the presidential inauguration. their appearance is strictly voluntary. anyone who does not want to perform does not have to, this after some members of the dance troupe took to social media to complain about performing for donald trump next month. and finally a tsa agent in los angeles at l.a.x. reminding passengers about the rules for getting through >> no, that will not happen. but i do want to point out, you made a brief reference to this, sitting to my left this morning, tony reali. >> yes, are we still doing the doctor bit, because i'm ready. >> that's me, man. no. >> i'm just the intern. okay. >> you are, yes. you are the physician's assistant this morning. but you're going to be doing "pop news" this morning. >> "pop news." >> good to have you. >> we'll have it popping and a full day of sports today, and we have a full day of sports tomorrow. we'll be back tomorrow to talk about the nba package on abc and espn. >> awesome. can't news" chair is more comfortable than the sports chair. i don't know what that's about. >> well, we'll find out coming up in "pop news." >> love your hair. >> yeah. >> let's get it over to rob for another look at the weather. hey, man. >> all right, dan and tony along with the rest of us. we'd like to dash through the snow, right? you'd like to have a white christmas. you don't want to travel through it. here's the spots where an inch or more of snow will be on the ground. all the intermountain west 3,000 feet and above you'll see a white christmas for sure but then that blizzard, yeah, you'll dump some snow across parts of the dakotas, but on the east side of this, it's pretty warm, windy conditions with this storm as it presses through and a foot or more through the mountains, the four corners region, a foot or more in higher elevations. there's your white christmas and icy northwest of minneapolis. but east of this we're really pumping up the heat, so much so we'll see some severe weather across parts of nebraska and kansas during the day tomorrow, and this is really just a couple of miles east of where the blizzard is happening so a huge difference in temperature here, and that's going to make it not feel like christmas across parts of the east coast where it really won't be white. but christmas eve tonight, not so bad flying weather after the rain moves through the east coast today and warm conditions across parts of the south including parts of new mexico, 51 degrees in denver. santa has been busy going over his list to see who's naughty and nice. >> how did i his way across the other side of the international dateline. >> speaking of being on the right path, how many of you have finished your shopping for the holidays, hanukkah, christmas? >> finished my shopping? i haven't even started my shopping. >> okay, so we have two procrastinators at the table today. i'm not done yet either, and if you're a procrastinator, you are in your element because just hours to go before christmas. but believe it or not, there are still bargains to be found, bargains aplenty, and abc's becky worley joins us from san francisco. good morning, becky. >> good morning, rebecca. merry christmas, happy hanukkah, all that. >> all the good things merry, merry to you, so what are your favorite bargains out there this morning? >> well, as you know, rebecca, online purchases of $100 or more, sears offering up to 60% off some women's and kids' boots and 50% off some tools. good prices in store. gifts only, though. the big discounts will get bigger after christmas
