and rare moon rising. the event more than 150 years in the making. a super blue blood moon in the sky right now, we're live giving you a front row seat to this incredible sight. good morning, america. a lot to get to this morning. george is in washington, d.c., for that big moment for the president, his very first state of the union address. >> yeah, amy, and, yeah, a group of us had lunch with the president yesterday before the address. the president was saying he really hoped it would be a uniting moment. that's what he was going to try to do. but, boy, that speech he chose to give did not do the trick last night. it was about the iciest reception i have ever seen inside that house chamber. democrats and republicans as divided as ever. >> and, george, the president even made news walking out of the speech. a comment he made after his address about that secret gop memo was caught on a hot mike. >> and a kennedy delivering the democratic response. live, for the first time over. we'll talk to joe kennedy in just a moment. george, fun being poked at him, the curse of having to give the state of the union response. it always seems to happen. this time the question was, was he wearing chapstick? >> was it chapstick? was it drool? we'll talk to the congressman about that coming up. but first, jon karl starts us off. good morning, jon. >> reporter: good morning, george. the white house had promised an optimistic and unifying speech. much of the speech certainly was optimistic, but from my vantage point inside that chamber, this was not a speech that unified congress. for his first official state of the union address, it was an upbeat, positive president trump. >> the state of our union is strong because our people are strong. >> reporter: boasted about an american comeback. >> for many years companies and jobs were only leaving us. but now they are roaring back, they're coming back. they want to be where the action is. they want to be in the united states of america. that's where they want to be. >> reporter: and he highlighted low unemployment numbers for minorities. >> african-american unemployment stands at the lowest rate ever recorded. [ cheers and applause ] and hispanic american unemployment has also reached the lowest levels in history. >> reporter: democrats just weren't buying it. they spent most of the night sitting silently even as the president called for bipartisanship and unity. >> we all share the same home, the same heart, the same destiny and the same great american flag. we proudly stand for the national anthem. >> reporter: the president laid out his priorities for the year. some clearly designed to appeal to democrats. >> i have directed my administration to make fixing the injustice of high drug prices one of my top priorities. i am asking both parties to come together to give us safe, fast, reliable and modern infrastructure. >> reporter: and making his pitch for his immigration proposal, the president highlighted the horrific plight of two families whose teenage daughters were killed by the criminal gang ms-13. >> many of these gang members took advantage of glaring loopholes in our laws to enter the country as illegal, unaccompanied, alien minors. >> reporter: but the specifics of his plan to protect dreamers and tighten border security drew hisses and boos from democrats. >> under the current broken system, a single immigrant can bring in virtually unlimited numbers of distant relatives. under our flag -- >> reporter: as congress debates the fate of the so-called dreamers, president trump had this message. >> my duty and the sacred duty of every elected official in this chamber is to defend americans, to protect their safety, their families, their communities and their right to the american dream because americans are dreamers too. >> reporter: the president took a hard line on north korea, highlighting the repressiveness of kim jong-un's regime with the story of this man, a north korean defector who was tortured and had his limbs amputated before he managed to escape the brutal regime. >> today he has a new leg, but i understand, seong-ho, you still keep those old crutches as a reminder of how far you've come. your great sacrifice is an inspiration to us all. >> reporter: as the president sketched out his immigrant -- immigration proposal, there was one campaign promise that was noticeably absent, no mention whatsoever of the second half of his most repeated campaign promise that mexico would be paying for the wall. george. >> thanks, jon. we are joined now by the congressman who gave the democratic response, joe kennedy of massachusetts. congressman, thanks for joining us this morning. you know -- >> glad to be with you. >> watching and the president last night it seemed like you were speaking to two very different countries, any common ground? >> i think absolutely common ground. and, look, i think part of what i was trying to articulate last night was that there's a whole, wide series of issues and values that unite americans, the second half of my speech was trying to target. let's focus on that idea of those values, that vision, and that runs -- that runs through all americans. that's not a democrat or republican idea. >> what is your pitch to everyone out there who says the president's got a point, the economy is healthy, it's very, very strong, my 401(k) is doing pretty well and i'll start feeling a tax cut next month. >> it's clearly you're not going to be able to deny the fact that the stock market has gone up under president trump and obviously that's a good thing. i'd point out 50% of americans don't own a single stock and 80% of all stocks are basically controlled by 10% of american families so, if we're using the stock market as a barometer for economic success for the entire american country, then i'm not so sure that's the right metric -- >> not just the stock market, though. low unemployment, wages starting to go up. the tax cut will come to many working class americans. >> this tax cut, some parts of that tax cut are going to come to many working class americans perhaps, which are also seeing a cut to the ability to states and localities to make some of the investments there i think americans have come to expect, and you're seeing a massive increase in our debt, which is going to, one, potentially lead to massive cuts to our social safety net including, remember, we spent much of the past year trying to destroy medicaid, which is another bedrock fundamental program that many americans depend on in order to get health care so press pause, understand that we are at a time of robust economic growth, fine, but let's try to find a way to make sure we leverage that for the benefit of all americans and not just wholly weighted towards those at the top. >> you spoke directly to the dreamers last night in spanish. the president spoke about that issue as well. laid out what he calls his compromise plan. are we going to get a deal before next thursday's deadline? >> look, so we better get a deal. this is something that i feel passionately about and i think the vast majority of americans do. the vast majority of members of congress, democrat and republican, want to solve. we have two big problems, one, up until a couple days ago, no one knew where the president was on this because he kept saying different things to different people. now we've got a plan that he has articulated. that plan as he knows is a nonstarter on capitol hill so i would urge the president and his administration to -- if they really want a deal to sit down and start hashing out to make one rather than throwing bombs and then saying, hey, it's take it or leave it. that's not how a deal is made. >> you're the first -- you're the first member of the kennedy family to give a live response to the state of the union. how did it feel? >> that i didn't know. look, i had fun last night. it was an extraordinary honor for me. it was a privilege to be able to do it and particularly to be in a community like fall river at a school like diamond with the students there that are -- it's a pretty special place so i was honored to be there and hope that it's a message that will resonate. >> it is a special place. the city where i was born. one final question, you know, you couldn't completely escape the curse of the state of the union response. twitter had a field day with your shiny lips so, did you bring your chapstick this morning? >> oddly enough, i decided to go a little bit light on the chapstick this morning. more on the coffee, light on the chapstick, which is probably a wise choice. >> congressman, thanks for joining us this morning. >> george, thank you. >> so, amy, he followed all the rules perfectly. he got made fun of giving the speech like everybody does and he made fun of himself the next morning. >> well done, george. thank you. we're going to move on now to new developments in the russia investigation. president trump caught on that hot mike speaking about that classified gop memo targeting the fbi. our chief justice correspondent pierre thomas has those details from washington. good morning, pierre. >> reporter: amy, good morning. it certainly looks like that controversial house intelligence report will soon be coming out but there's also new evidence that the special counsel is locked in and won't be distracted. abc news learning that the fbi director and deputy attorney general were both at the white house pleading with the white house chief of staff john kelly to prevent the release of the republican house intelligence report before they had a chance to make sure it does not compromise classified information. those pleas apparently ignored as the president's mind appeared made up at the state of the union. >> must release the memo. >> don't worry. 100%. >> reporter: but for now, the memo still waiting to be reviewed as new evidence emerges that the special counsel continues to aggressively look into possible obstruction of justice. >> good afternoon, everyone. >> reporter: sources tell abc news the special counsel's office in recent days has contacted the former spokesman for the trump legal team, mark corallo, apparently wanting to know why he quit after only three months. corallo left, sources say, in part because he was concerned that some in president trump's camp were looking to unearth negative information about bob mueller and mueller's apparently interested in explosive accusations in michael wolff's new book, which portrays corallo as concerned about the president's role in helping write a misleading statement aboard air force one about the nature of that infamous trump tower meeting between campaign officials and a group of russians. wolff wrote, corallo seeing no good outcome believed the meeting on air force one represented a likely obstruction of justice. >> in retrospect, i probably would have done things differently. >> reporter: the president's son said initially it was about russian adoptions but it was actually set up for the trump campaign to receive dirt on hillary clinton. dirt allegedly developed by vladimir putin. white house officials say the trump tower meeting provided no meaningful exchange but a critical question, what exactly did the president know about the trump tower meeting at the time? did the president know the real reason the trump tower meeting was being set up when he helped write that misleading statement? george. >> many more questions. thanks very much. let's get some analysis now from mary bruce, also our chief political analyst matthew dowd and, mary, let me begin with you. the president ending that mystery, nunes memo incredibly controversial. looks like it's going to come out and will explode on capitol hill in part because they won't release the democratic rebuttal. >> yes, this is incredibly divisive. democrats have their own memo they want released. republicans say they need more time to vet that so they won't be coming out at the same time. overall republicans say that this memo, those republicans who want this out, say that it shows political bias that may have undermined the beginning of this investigation, may have called into question the integrity of the investigation. democrats say it's nothing more than a political hit job. while the president says he wants that out, remember, just hours before the speech last night, the white house told us the president had not seen it and had not reviewed it yet. >> he said it's 100%. let's talk about the speech more. matthew dowd, you were back in the oval office yesterday, of course, you used to work for president george w. bush, but you met with president trump yesterday and he said something to you similar to what he was telling network anchors, he hoped this would be a unifying speech. >> yeah, he related in the course of the conversation how he thought he was going to compromise on immigration and the democrats would meet him and obviously reading that speech you didn't get any sense there was any room for compromise in that. i was thinking as we were leading in about this is the big -- the bad blood moon that's out -- the blue blood moon, the last time it was visible was in the 1860s and i think we are as divided now as we were then back when that rose the last time in the united states. i think the president and even i think the democrats would be -- it would be smart of them to look at what lincoln said in 1862, his first joint session speech where he said the dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate for the stormy present. the pile of difficulties we must all meet at this occasion. i think both parties need to get out of the trench warfare and figure out a way to come together and solve these problems. >> boy, it doesn't feel like it will happen any time soon, and mary, last night on immigration, sure doesn't look like a deal is possible before that deadline next week. >> no, certainly not a deal, tied up with a bow. they may get closer. you heard the president say what he put on the table is a fair compromise. that's not how democrats see it. that's not even how many republicans see it. you have this looming deadline coming. they don't really seem to be any closer to finally getting this done and, george, you have to think about all those dreamers that were in the audience last night listening to the president concerned about their fate, whether they could be facing deportation. >> and the president said that could happen as soon as march 5th. thank you very much. back to michael. >> thank you. in his address president trump mentioned the stock market surged during his first year in office but wall street is opening this morning riding its worst slump since mid-2016 and rebecca jarvis is here and, rebecca, good morning to you. what is behind it? >> good morning. yeah, so amazon teaming up with jpmorgan and berkshire hathway had an impact on health care companies and insurance providers because these company, amazon leading the way are teaming up to create their own independent health care company and, michael, whenever amazon introduces itself getting into a new category, there's a lot of fear in the market of what that could do to the pre-existing companies. we saw it in the book space when amazon got in there and crushed the competition. always the fear they'll do it again. >> afraid they'll take it over. what is the big picture impact of this drop the last two days? >> you look at these last 24 hour, it's a drop in the bucket compared to what's happened over the last year. the dow up 31% over the last year. worldwide stock markets have surged over the last year and if you look at that typical 401(k), over the last year, michael, it is up almost $25,000. >> pretty good. good money. >> for anybody who has money in the market. >> that helps them. there's another big headline, apple. >> yes. >> under investigation slowing down the iphone. >> yes, so we spoke to tim cook about this a few weeks ago when i spoke with him. the company has been facing backlash over this question of slowing down their phones in order to help with battery issues. now, the doj and s.e.c. are reportedly looking into it. when i spoke with tim cook he apologized and reiterated that apology from the company. >> all right. thank you, rebecca. appreciate it. amy. all right, we move on now to the super bowl and the most closely watched gloved hand since michael jackson's. >> hee-hee. >> nice one there. patriots quarterback tom brady still covering that injured right hand just four days before the big game and t.j. holmes is in balmy minneapolis with more on that. hey, t.j. >> hey, good morning. i'm in training camp this morning, right? well, it's a mock one but this is a spot called the super bowl experience. a million fans expected to come through here over the next few days to test their skills as nfl players. but, yes, as you all say the talk of minneapolis continues to be -- i don't know how to put this -- tom brady's body part. he showed up wearing two gloves. yesterday one glove on that hand injured in practice a few weeks ago and had to get several stitches but still able to lead his team to the afc championship. he's wearing a special glove made by under armour, one of his sponsors, and the recovery continues. he's making fashion statements at this point. he will play in all likelihood play well. >> t.j., if it's not brady's hand it's gronkowski's head with the concussion. what do they expect by him? "charles in charge" ended in the fall of 1990 and she said in the nik ritchie interview, the dirty.com that we had sex when she was 17 and she said we had sex long after "charles in charge" was done. nicole eggert was born in january of 1972. "charles in charge" ended in the fall of 1990, so that would have made her an adult, 18-plus, and she said that it happened long after "charles in charge" was done. those are her words. >> correct, and that was a radio interview with nik ritchie you bring up. now she says it did happen when the show was filming. that she lied at the time to protect the show because that's what she thought she needed to do. >> she lied at the time to -- so i'm trying to figure out which time she's lying and which time she's not lying because the story seems to change quite a bit. so and i can't keep up with her quite honestly. >> i want to also bring up nik ritchie. he issued a statement. this is the man she was talking to and we should point out that he and eggert both share a manager but he now says nicole was distraught after that interview. she told me it was much worse than she described on air. she said he molested me as a child and i didn't know any better. i can vividly remember that statement. it's not one you would forget. what happened with you and nicole when she was 14, 15, 16? >> absolutely nothing. and i find it interesting, amy, that the moment that her first allegation that we had sex when she was 17 which is not true, as soon as that was proven to be 100% false, she comes up with a new story where something happened once a week for years. now, i don't know if you've ever been on a sitcom set but on any given day on every day, and especially "charles in charge," which was like a picnic every day, one of my favorite jobs i've ever done there's teachers, parents, family, crew, producers, my dad. so, how any of this could have happened is absolutely impossible and i find it -- i don't know how anybody can believe what she's saying when her first allegation of having sex when we were 17 had been proven to be 100% false and her story keeps changing. it comes up -- she makes up new things. by the way, i'm not the first person she's done this to. >> okay. she got very specific about you. she says eggert said you had sexual contact with her touching her inappropriately when she was 14. she says, and you mentioned this, that it was not a one-time incident that that happened like once a week. how would you describe your relationship with eggert on the set? was it strictly professional? was it flirtatious? >> no, it was great. >> amy, i can tell you and i mean this sincerely one of the most fun things i've ever done. talented girl. we had a great time on the set. everybody liked each other. everybody got along. >> nothing inappropriate? >> it was impossible because when a child is on a set, they're either in school or they're on the set with a teacher and their parents. >> so, you never alone with her. >> no, unless i was in a scene alone with her and directors and producers and crew guys are watching. never. never. it's impossible. and the amount of time that we spent on the show was -- >> you never saw her off the set? >> off the set? i saw her in the studio a lot. yeah, off the set. >> she mentioned your garage in one of her tweets. >> i have no idea what that means. i have no idea. so you can't just keep making up different things. >> i want to ask you about this. adam who played nicole's brother on the show, reportedly said he witnessed inappropriate cuddling between you and nicole on the set and then adam karl who is credited with one appearance on the show tweeted he remembers her crying about you. why do you think they're saying that? are they lying too? >> i don't know what they're saying. i have no idea. i don't know why they're saying it. i don't -- there were so many people on that set. nobody said anything until -- and, by the way, nicole and i were friends after our only sexual encounter where she, she aggressively sought me out because she wanted me to be her first so that she would be good for her boyfriend, those are her words. >> you say she seduced you. >> yes. >> you stand by that. >> absolutely. >> you weren't attracted to her. you didn't seek her out. >> absolutely not. >> you didn't try to date her. >> absolutely not. no. >> and something else of interest, you also told eggert to go to police if she had these allegations and she now says she may do just that. do you have any concerns? [ howling ] ♪ don't follow around tonight it's bound to -- >> oh, the old howling wolf out there. good morning, america. great to have you all with us this morning and george is in washington covering the state of the union address >> that's right, george. you were up all night. i bet you didn't even go to sleep so i'm sure you were just gazing at the moon. >> the problem is i'm stuck in a basement down here, amy. i know it looks like i can look out the window. that's just a green screen so i never saw the moon last night. >> well, you can watch it on abc. >> well, that's good. well, amy, i was here, of course, for the state of the union and we want to talk more and bring in our chief white house correspondent jon karl and, jon, i think both of us were struck yesterday all day long from the white house from the president himself, we kept hearing unity, unity, the president is going to reach across the aisle. it doesn't seem like that's what happened last night. >> reporter: he sure tried to reach across the aisle. he talked about coming together. he struck an optimistic tone in much of the speech but the democrats in that chamber simply were not buying it, george. through much of the speech, in fact, even when he walked in there, if you got to look at the full vantage point as i did inside the chamber, you could see most of the democrats simply were not applauding for him. then when it came to his immigration proposal, he went into some detail about what he wants to do to increase border security and protect the dreamers. at that point there were a couple of points where you actually heard booing and hissing from the democratic side. take a listen. >> under the current broken system, a single immigrant can bring in virtually unlimited numbers of distant relatives. under our plan, my duty and the sacred duty of every elected official in this chamber is to defend americans, to protect their safety, their families, their communities and their right to the american dream because americans are dreamers too. >> reporter: and as he talked about providing citizenship to the dreamers in 10 or 12 years under his plan, that line, americans are dreamers too seemed, george, to be drawing a distinction between the dreamers and americans, a suggestion he doesn't see them as americans and i have to say there was another campaign promise that i had heard so many times during the presidential campaign that was not repeated here on immigration, that's that second part of the wall promise that mexico would be paying for it. no mention whatsoever of that. >> that seems to have gone away. you know, jon, often these speeches go away if they're not followed up by real execution, by the white house with kind of intense efforts coming out. any idea what the white house plans are going forward? >> well, for the people who think boys and girls are different, i bet they would say that girls like pink and they like to wear dresses. >> is that true? >> no. >> what does it mean to be a princess? >> princesses act like they're fancy and they're perfect but nobody is perfect. >> do you feel like boys and girls are pretty much equal. >> yes. >> what if a boy is acting like he's better than you. what do you do? >> maybe i'll say i don't like what he's doing and if he could stop it. >> girls are just the same as boys are. >> watching from the room next door, the girls' parents and child psychologist dr. david anderson. they had a very clear sense about girls and boys being equal. >> that was something that's really interesting. boys are the same age hear a little more about gender roles or may believe there's certain things girls can't do or boys are not supposed to do. >> he also noted how the girls are learning to look out for one another. >> if somebody was being mean to your friend, could you stand up? >> i might say can you please be nicer. i did it to -- for my sister once. it felt good. >> when we asked boys the same question, the answer was, if it comes to it, you know, we may have to get physical. for the girls on the panel you didn't get a single answer that involved going into someone else's space. >> reporter: in fact guarding their personal space may be one of the critical rights they're learning. >> i put my hands here and i'm like don't cross the space. >> what if somebody is giving you a hug and you don't want them to give you a hug. what can you do? >> you can say please stop because if you kind of give some -- a hug to somebody you don't know if they have lice and protect your own space. >> even when they mentioned lice they said that was developmentally appropriate because at some level they were happy that was one of the biggest threats they were thinking about. if you're only worrying about lice you're keeping your kid protected. >> reporter: these girls are already imagining the future. what does it mean to be a powerful woman? >> to be strong. >> don't show off and just do it. >> it's not like they're a superhero or anything. they feel good about themselves and they -- they're just strong. >> and when their parents joined in, no embarrassment here. only pride on both sides. >> i thought it was really wonderful to just hear the girls talk about how girls are equal to boys and from my day and age if i had been interviewed if the answers would have been so across the board. >> what's the hardest thing about raising sort of strong girls that are going to grow up to be strong, good women? >> at a younger age it's all about mommy and daddy. now it's starting to become more and more my friends are doing this. my friends are, you know, showing me this sort of thing. >> as the kids get older parents as role models fade in power and there get to be new social pressures which is exactly where we want these ideals to stay strong. >> these girls are growing up in an era of powerful women and that's the biggest gift we can give them. >> a lot of girl power in that room. they are at an age where they aren't so self-conscious and not unwilling to speak their minds. i asked them how they would react to boys who may act better or smarter or more powerful than they are and they told me, a situation, of course, a lot of women will complain about, the girls said they hadn't experienced it but if they did they would tell the boys to cut it out. as a mom i remember that age but the key is trying to keep the girls rooted in that kind of power and honesty and that's the challenge for parents. >> and i'm glad you bring this to us. as a father of 13-year-old girls i'm panicking and very important and we're going to bring in dr. anderson who is going to help us. dr. david anderson, the director of the child mind institute and we saw you in the piece, doc. as you can see these kids 7 to 10 years old already forming their own identities at that age. how do you foster that growth? >> we like to think identity is about being exposed to diverse set of experiences and role models so following a kid's lead and making sure they have lots of opportunities to engage in a wide range of passions whether it's robotics or violin lessons or sports and that's kind of how we make sure that they then can pull out the various facets of their identities from those activities. >> you want your daughter to feel like they can do anything. >> of course. >> i want the same thing but what are the building blocks? how do we give them confidence and the strength? >> what we pay attention to in terms of what we praise for our children. if we praise effort and kindness and perseverance, who they are, what they do and how they interact with others, we're more likely to see those qualities start to amplify as they grow older. want to avoid it around appearance or the idea of certain qualities only on their own. >> and creates stereotypes. these girls say they like to get dirty and want to be considered these light frivolous things. they didn't like that at all. >> absolutely. >> you also say that parents, you're the role model for your kids. we all are but at a certain age, you hear the parents say they want to hang out with their friends. >> peers. >> how do you balance that? [ applause ] well, we're going to get more on the science behind -- we're going to get more on the science behind this lunar phenomenon. astrophysicist hakeem oluseyi is here. thanks for joining us. and hakeem, what makes a lunar eclipse so special? >> so, today, we're experiencing a third in a series of supermoons and it's also the second full moon of the month which makes it a blue moon and because the earth is passing into the -- the moon is passing into the earth's shadow that it makes it a total lunar eclipse. >> tell us what means to have a supermoon and also what's happening during an eclipse? >> yeah, so what makes the moon super, it is bigger and brighter and the reason why it's bigger and brighter is because it's closer to earth. the moon isn't always the same distance as it orbits the earth sometimes it's closer, sometimes it's farther away. the closest we call perigee. when there is a full moon then it's a supermoon and, yeah -- [ applause ] and also, when the moon passes into the earth's shadow that's what happens during a total lunar eclipse so you might ask, why isn't the moon completely blacked out? why is it red? the reason why is because the same reason why we have a blue sky and we have red sunsets. the earth's atmosphere bends the light around the earth to make it fall on the moon and the blue light gets scattered out going in all directions and the red light makes it through so the moon appears red. >> i tell you what, he's like dancing around. you're a super astrophysicist. hakeem, thank you so much. we appreciate that. audience, we all learned a little something, and we're going to go to kayna whitworth in san francisco bay and we hear people have spent the night on board waiting for the eclipse. >> reporter: michael, that's right. this is so cool. so i am on board this aircraft carrier and people actually stayed the night here and they slept in the barracks to wake up with the crew and view the super blue blood moon. this family spent the whole night here. i actually heard you telling your boys you're sitting on a runway right now which is absolutely true. you thought the barracks were a little uncomfortable. >> yeah, just a little bit. >> yeah, a little uncomfortable, he said. what did you think? >> i couldn't sleep. >> he couldn't sleep. but they loved this super blue blood moon and your favorite part of it? >> it was -- when it started turning red. >> when it started turning red, but you kind of like the eclipse part the best? oh, that's so fun. and this woman right here says she hasn't been up this early in 40 years since she had her son so, ginger, we're all thinking about you out here, i have to say. it is absolutely a spectacular experience, though, michael. >> all right. kayna, thank you so much. looked like everybody is up early. got the lawn chairs out. >> i'm over here checking on ginger. >> i know. >> my best friend said anecdotally in her two decades of practicing that more babies are born around a full moon. >> i gave birth on a full moon. >> you did? >> get a room in a hospital. because they said everybody was going -- we'll be watching ginger closely. in the meantime, let's go out to clayton sandell at bluff lake nature center in denver, colorado, and clayton, tell us what's happening there. >> reporter: hey, guys, it's about 34 degrees but we still have hundreds of hard-core astronomy fans out here. the moon is behind a cloud but hoping it comes back out watching it all morning and i have phil plate with me. the astronomer on twitter from sci-fi.com. why is the moon red? what accounts for that? >> well, if you're standing on the moon, what you're seeing is the earth blocking the sun and the sunlight is coming through the earth's atmosphere and it's turing red just like the sun turns red at sunset so the only the red light is getting through. so, if you're standing on the moon you see the sunrises and all the sunsets on the earth happening at the same time. >> reporter: and unlike a solar eclipse, a lot can see a lunar eclipse. >> that's right, a solar eclipse is when the moon blocks the sun the shadows on the earth, and you have to be in the right place at the right time. here everybody can see this. >> the sun is starting to rise and the moon setting soon. a few more minutes to enjoy it. back to you. >> all right, enjoy it. i want to say thanks to clayton, kayna and nick for bringing us that.
