several others still missing this morning. rapidly rising floodwaters gushed into an amusement park in arlington texas. six flags. roller coaster will partially submerged. more from abc's elizabeth hur. >> reporter: from texas to oklahoma this morning, thousands still reeling from the weekend's record rainfall and devastating destruction. >> this little town has been hit hard before but this is nothing like ever. >> reporter: the swollen waters of the blanco river rising more than three feet in just hours wiping out roads and even concrete bridges. flooding basements and sending hundreds to the roofs of their hopes. >> we saw what we thought was a rescue boat coming down the river and we kind of did a cheer and then we realized it was a car. >> reporter: floodwaters so powerful, so far authorities say at least three people were killed including high school senior and homecoming queen alyssa ramirez. her car swept away on her way home. near tulsa, firefighter jason farley died trying to save others leaving behind a wife and 15-year-old daughter. >> we suspect that he drowned. got caught in the storm drain itself. >> reporter: back in texas, authorities now confirming overturned trucks and demolished apartment, the work of an ef-1 tornado packing winds of 100 miles per hour. the damage so vast first responders are using orange xs for now to mark the units searched while red cross shelters are set up across the region to help the displaced. elizabeth hur, abc news, new york. and this memorial day holiday leaving little relief. texas, oklahoma getting what they do not need more stormy weather. accuweather's molly cochran with the latest for us now. >> well, it was a very historic weekend in oklahoma city. dozens of water rescues due to flooding issues. looks like that moments outside the nation's capital last night. the bomb squad had to be called in because of a suspicious car. what you're seeing there, officers blowing up a pressure cooker that was found in a station wagon. it was parked across the street from the capitol building. they also seized what appeared to be a propane tank. this was all happening just as thousands arrived for a memorial day concert. the owner of that car was located and arrested. police insist though the public was never in danger. turn to the streets of cleveland now. they're calm this morning after protests that followed a verdict in a police shooting case. a controversial case. 71 people were arrested in the wake of the saturday morning decision. most of them after dark. but most protesters marched peacefully. sermons at sunday services reanyonersre reinforced the need for calm. the governor praised them. >> the people of cleveland handled this. they should be so proud of themselves and look at cleveland as a model. >> the case itself officer michael brelo, he was acquitted in the deaths of two unarmed suspects and stood on the hood of their car and fired 15 bullets into the windshield after a 25-minute chase. justice department now reviewing the verdict. investigators in new orleans trying to figure out who killed a housing authority police officer as he sat in his patrol car. the officer was keeping an eye on an apartment building under construction when he was shot. his body discovered in his patrol car. detectives say it's too early to tell if the officer was directly targeted. breaking news we're getting from japan where a strong earthquake has rattled tokyo and its suburbs. magnitude 5.6 quake. new video joust coming in showing buildings swaying. so far no reports of major damage. the quake was about 30 miles below the earth's surface. more intense in tokyo's suburban areas. some harsh words about the military in light of major advances by isis. ashton
