several others still missing this morning. rapidly rising floodwaters gushed into an amusement park in arlington texas. six flags. roller coaster will partially submerged. more from abc's elizabeth hur. >> reporter: from texas to oklahoma this morning, thousands still reeling from the weekend's record rainfall and devastating destruction. >> this little town has been hit hard before but this is nothing like ever. >> reporter: the swollen waters of the blanco river rising more than three feet in just hours wiping out roads and even concrete bridges. flooding basements and sending hundreds to the roofs of their hopes. >> we saw what we thought was a rescue boat coming down the river and we kind of did a cheer and then we realized it was a car. >> reporter: floodwaters so powerful, so far authorities say at least three people were killed including high school senior and homecoming queen alyssa ramirez. her car swept away on her way home. near tulsa, firefighter jason farley died trying to save others leaving behind a wife and 15-year-old daughter. >> we suspect that he drowned. got caught in the storm drain itself. >> reporter: back in texas, authorities now confirming overturned trucks and demolished apartment, the work of an ef-1 tornado packing winds of 100 miles per hour. the damage so vast first responders are using orange xs for now to mark the units searched while red cross shelters are set up across the region to help the displaced. elizabeth hur, abc news, new york. and this memorial day holiday leaving little relief. texas, oklahoma getting what they do not need more stormy weather. accuweather's molly cochran with the latest for us now. >> well, it was a very historic weekend in oklahoma city. dozens of water rescues due to flooding issues. looks like that threat will shirt farther to the south for memorial day from dallas to houston and also some powerful thunderstorms including dallas san antonio and houston. some of these thunderstorms could even produce a few tornadoes. meanwhile, the northeast will be baking for memorial day. heat and humidity going to be a factor. >> all right, thanks so much to our molly cochran there. some frightening moments outside the nation's capital last night. the bomb squad had to be called in because of a suspicious car. what you're seeing there, officers blowing up a pressure cooker that was found in a station wagon. it was parked across the street from the capitol building. they also seized what appeared to be a propane tank. this was all happening just as thousands arrived for a memorial day concert. the owner of that car was located and arrested. police insist though the public was never in danger. turn to the streets of cleveland now. they're calm this morning after protests that followed a verdict in a police shooting case. a controversial case. 71 people were arrested in the wake of the saturday morning decision. most of them after dark. but most protesters marched peacefully. sermons at sunday services reanyonersre reinforced the need for calm. the governor praised them. >> the people of cleveland handled this. they should be so proud of themselves and look at cleveland as a model. >> the case itself officer michael brelo, he was acquitted in the deaths of two unarmed suspects and stood on the hood of their car and fired 15 bullets into the windshield after a 25-minute chase. justice department now reviewing the verdict. investigators in new orleans trying to figure out who killed a housing authority police officer as he sat in his patrol car. the officer was keeping an eye on an apartment building under construction when he was shot. his body discovered in his patrol car. detectives say it's too early to tell if the officer was directly targeted. breaking news we're getting from japan where a strong earthquake has rattled tokyo and its suburbs. magnitude 5.6 quake. new video joust coming in showing buildings swaying. so far no reports of major damage. the quake was about 30 miles below the earth's surface. more intense in tokyo's suburban areas. some harsh words about the military in light of major advances by isis. ashton carter says the iraqi forces showed no will to fight. carter added that even though iraqi soldiers vastly outnumber their opposition they withdrew without much resistance. the fall of ramadi came as a surprise. >> i don't believe anybody felt that ramadi would fall. and i think it's of great concern to everyone. >> the iraqis left behind large numbers of u.s. supplied vehicles including several tanks. now presumed to be in the islamic state's hands. well tributes have been pouring in for famed mathematician john nash who died this weekend along with his wife in a taxi accident in new jersey. nash's battle with mental illness was depicted in the oscar winning film "a beautiful mind." russell crowe who starred as him tweeting about the couple saying an amazing partnership, beautiful mind beautiful hearts. nash was 86 years old. well the direct ef of the french open tennis tournament said it was a lack of judgment on the part of security that allowed a young fan to get on the court. now, take a look here. the guy went right up to roger federer yesterday as he was walking off following his first round win. he tried to take a selfie of course with federer before he was eventually led away by security. security a little late getting there. afterward federer made it clear he was unhappy about the security lapse. turn back to home. memorial day the day the nation honors those killed while serving in the armed forces. and one tradition in the nation's capital, thousands of bikers taking part in the annual rolling thunder ride for freedom. it's held for the 27th consecutive >> everyone is wondering about the san mateo bridge. the eastbound portion is re-opened with headlights headed toward us. the westbound portion should be re-opened soon. we had the entire bridge closed during the weekend for repairs on the high-rise. i will take you to the golden gate bridge where the drive is smooth from marin. the drive shows no problems. we had an early accident in san francisco at the skyway. that has >> breaking news from east oakland where police involved in a stand off with a murder suspect. officers received a report of a shooting yesterday evening before 7:00 and found a person dead near 99th avenue and dante avenue. another was driven to the hospital with a gunshot wound. the suspect is responsible for the double shooting is barricaded in a home and refusing to surrender. we will update the situation when we get more information. >> after a big weekend closing the eastbound lanes of the san mateo bridge are re-opened. the westbound direction should be open soon. looking at the span from our san mateo bridge camera the headlights headed toward you are the eastbound traffic. westbound, hopefully we will re-opened next half hour. caltrain said both directings would be open at 5:00 a.m. a power problem led to signs near the toll plaza failing and keeping them from doing their job. the entire bridge was closed 10:00 p.m. on friday so caltrain could install new expansion joints. the construction work is expected to extend the life of the aging
