and good morning to you all on this friday. i'm t.j. holmes. >> and i'm marci gonzalez. reena ninan is on assignment. we begin with breaking news from nepal. the search for a missing u.s. marine helicopter is over. the us military confirms that the wreckage of an american huey helicopter has been found. officials in nepal say rescuers have located three bodies near the site. >> the helicopter has been missing since earlier this week when a second massive earthquake struck nepal. six marines were on board along with two nepalese soldiers. they were delivering rice and other relief supplies to a remote area. u.s. military has sent a team to that crash site to investigate. so far, the death toll from the two earthquakes is more than 8300. again, the update now. the u.s. confirming that in fact the wreckage of that missing helicopter has been found. you can learn more about the search for the crew of that helicopter at our website, abcnews.com. meanwhile, other updates we can bring you here at home, an apology from amtrak, taking full responsibility as investigators reveal more about the final moments of that tragic train crash in philadelphia. that train speeding up for a full minute when it should have been slowing down. >> all eight people killed in the crash have been identified. the first funeral is being held today for the youngest victim, 20-year-old naval academy midshipman justin zemser. bazi kanani is at the crash site. good morning to you, bazi. >> reporter: good morning, marci. good morning, t.j. investigators here say so far, they have found nothing wrong with the train, the track, or the signals prior to the crash. they're focused on why the train suddenly sped up just before derailing. the new evidence from the crash scene, a video recording from amtrak train 188's engine, showing the train suddenly accelerating from 70 to 100 miles an hour in its final minute. the brake hit just before rounding a sharp curve. >> mere seconds into the turn, we could see the train tilting approximately ten degrees to the right. and then the recording went blank. >> reporter: investigators still waiting to speak to the man at the controls, 32-year-old train engineer brandon bostian. inside the cab, he would have had the throttle handle on the left to increase speed. a red alerter button the engineer has to hit a couple of times each minute or the engine goes into emergency shutdown. on the screen in front of him, a speedometer. to tell him how fast he was going. bostian's attorney says he's still recovering, but will meet with investigators in the next few days. >> i believe as a result of the concussion, he has no recollection whatsoever of the events. i'm told his memory is likely to return as the concussion symptoms subside. >> reporter: this morning, amtrak officials say all 243 believed to be on board are now accounted for. families grieving for eight people killed in the crash and praying for dozens more still hospitalized. several of those in the hospital are in critical condition. now amtrak crews here are still working to repair the tracks. they hope to have service between philadelphia and new york restored some time next week. marci? t.j.? >> like you said, they can't find anything wrong with the train or the track. a lot of focus going to be on that engineer. what else are we learning about him and his background? >> reporter: well, several of brandon bastion's friends are coming forward in support of him, in defense of him. they say he was really doing his dream job. that ever since he was a little kid, he was obsessed with trains. he always wanted to work as a train engineer. they say he talked frequently about how much he loved his job. >> bazi kanani, live in philadelphia. thank you so much. concern now with the safety of the nation's rail system has sparked a bitter dispute on capitol hill. >> after the house republicans voted to cut the amtrak budget for next year, house speaker john boehner lashed out at a reporter for asking about a connection between funding and this week's crash in philadelphia. >> that's a stupid question. listen. you know, they started this yesterday. it's all about funding. the train was going twice the speed limit. adequate funds were there. no money has been cut from rail safety. >> democratic senator charles schumer called boehner's comments quote patently false. he said insufficient funding had delayed installation of the advanced technology system that could have stopped this speeding train. amtrak is facing its first lawsuit stemming from the crash, filed by one of its employees. dispatcher bruce phillips was in the last car heading to new york. he's in the hospital after suffering a concussion, brain trauma, and spinal injuries. his attorney says amtrak is to blame whether it was operator error or mechanical failure. >> stay with abc news for the latest on the amtrak crash. another live report from philadelphia later on "gma." there has been another security threat at the white house. a california man was flying a small drone while standing on the street in front of the white house. the aircraft never made it over the white house grounds. it flew over lafayette park across the street. drones are not allowed anywhere in the city. the suspect being charged with violating a federal order. meanwhile, patriots' quarterback tom brady, he is now officially appealing his four-game suspension over deflategate. the nfl finds itself now on the verge of a legal showdown. league commissioner roger goodell will personally hear brady's appeal. that hearing must take place in the next ten days. the patriots released a harsh criticism of the report that led to brady's suspension. it claims the nfl's conclusions are incomplete, incorrect, and lack context. to texas, where they have gotten more than their fair share of rain this week. causing dangerous flooding and forcing evacuations. in lubbock, another two inches fell last night alone. turning streets into rivers. flood warnings will stay in effect through much of the state. but the upside? this year's steady rainfall has lifted texas out of its exceptional drought category for the first time in three years. and in drought-ravaged california, a few showers were very welcome in the san francisco bay area. that storm is packing a bigger punch as it moves south. but not enough to ease the state's water shortage. coming up, finally free. a wrongfully convicted man, he walks out of jail. new evidence that set him free after nearly three decades. and murder mystery? [ sniffle ] two former top ranking officials at the los angeles county sheriff's deft are under arrest. up with was the second ranking official in the department. both charged are obstruction of squus tis and civil rights abuses. it's the latest development in the case that began four years ago. no hard feelings. that's what man who spent decades behind bars far crime he didn't commit is now saying. 58-year-old michael mcallister has spent half his life in prison the. a woman mistakenly identified him as a man who assaulted her. another man recently confessed. at the time of the crime, the two men were look-a-likes. mcallister says he's not sure what he's going to do now. >> go home. and eat. >> how do you feel?
