Tahman . Reporter linzie and john, good morning. It is a difficult road back to health and a normal life for any p. O. W. But for bowe bergdahl, it could be even more difficult because of the questions his return has raised. As Sergeant Bowe bergdahl remains hospitalized in stable condition, some of his fellow soldiers are making stunning accusations about his capture by the taliban. He walked away. He walked right off the base. The fact of the matter is, he deserted us in the middle of afghanistan to go and find the taliban. Reporter when bergdahl arrived in afghanistan, his fellow soldiers say he began complaining about the u. S. Role in the war. The pentagon has never said on the record that bergdahl walked away from his post. But just months into his deployment, he disappeared, leaving his body armor, weapon and helmet behind. The u. S. Launched a massive search that bergdahls team leader, former Army Sergeant evan buetow, and others say resulted in the deaths of american soldiers. People calling him a hero. And people calling him this great soldier. Its a spit in the face to the soldiers who died as a direct result to him leaving. Reporter also this morning, there are questions about the price of bergdahls freedom. Some say it was too high. To secure his release, the Obama Administration freed five highrisk taliban detainees. The men are seen in this new video arriving to a heroes welcome in qatar. These are very seasoned strategic leaders of the taliban. Reporter republicans say the prisoner swap was a bad deal. You have to be concerned not only about the principle of associating with terrorists. Reporter the white house says the trade for Sergeant Bergdahl was the right thing to do. Sergeant bergdahl is being treated in germany. Hes set to travel to a san antonio medical center, where he will be reunited with his family. The San Francisco man who was the subject of an intense manhunt is in fbi custody this morning. Police were urgently looking for Ryan Kelly Chamberlain after a search of his home over the weekend turned up bombmaking materials. This man saw the arrest near the golden gate bridge. There was some commotion going on. I got out of my car. It became quickly evident that it was more than just some traffic stop violation. Chamberlain is expected to appear in federal court later today. Well get more details on the case from the fbi this morning. President obama arrived in portland this morning for a fourday european visit. The president is expected to urge leaders there to keep up the pressure on russian president putin over the ukraine. Mr. Obama and mr. Putin could come facetoface later on in the week in france. Theyll both be attending ceremonies marking the 70th anniversary of dday. Syrians are voting for president today. But theres little doubt about the outcome. The current leader, bashar assad, is widely expected to win. Assad has been locked in a devastating threeyear civil war with rebel forces. Human rights activists say more than 160,000 syrians have died as a result. Scientists plan to release detailed information today about a mysterious noise recorded about the time Malaysia Airlines flight 370 crashed. That noise, possibly an ocean impact, was recorded by two undersea receivers but did not come from the area of the ocean where crews have been searching. The lead scientist says theres only about a 25 chance the noise is related to flight 370. But that its a chance worth taking. A furious sandstorm roared into irans capital of tehran, lasting only 15 minutes. But it created some deadly chaos. Within just moments, the sky turned completely dark and temperatures plunged 25 degrees before rain washed it away. The sandstorm uprooted trees and triggered car crashes, knocked out power and crippled air traffic. It also left at least four people dead, dozens injured. Voluntary evacuations are under way in Northern Colorado after a local rivers spilled over their banks. Floodwaters swamped the city of greeley, rushing across entire neighborhoods. Flood levels are beginning to recede. But as warmer weather melts the snowpack, waterways are going to be at risk for spilling over for some time to come. The good news is, theres no rain forecast there for today. But the warm conditions will continue. Seattle lawmakers voting to raise the citys minimum wage to 15, making it the highest in the country. The City Council Unanimously voted for the hike, which will start taking effect next april. Smaller businesses would have three to seven years to phase in the increase. And theres a lower training wage for teenagers. A trade group plans to sue to try to overturn that measure. The Airline Industry says its fed up with the growing number of unruly passengers. The industry claims there were more than 8,200 diverted flights last year because of a passenger acting up. Thats about 3,000 more than the year before. Each of those diverted flights costs about 200,000. But airlines have very little recourse to collect that money from the responsible passengers. A shocking story, now, out of wisconsin. Two 12yearold girls accused of trying to kill their friend to please a fictional online character. Police say the girls lured another 12yearold to a park near milwaukee after a sleepover. Stabbed her 19 times and left her to die. But the victim crawled to a road for help. The girls allegedly wanted to commit murder to become disciples of a demonlike creature on a website called slender man. They are being charged as adults. One of the most disturbing stories we have read in a long, long time. You can say that again. It really is disturbing. The search resuming this morning for a missing hiker in phoenix, after it got too hot to keep looking. Temperatures shot up to 110 degrees yesterday, as the crews were searching for eric fernandez. The 23yearold from Washington State vanished saturday during a solo hike on camelback mountain. So far, police have found his car, along with receipts for water and a hydration pack. Medical news, now. A promising, new treatment for cervical cancer. Doctors are finding success by boosting the bodys immune system to fight the disease. They extract immune cells from the patients and inject the cells back into the tumors. Two women who were expected to die from the cancer are alive today because of the new treatment. And theres new hope for millions, now, that a new drug has been credited with curing skin cancer. Doctors say a london man who was dying of melanoma is now cancerfree, after six months of immunotherapy treatments. Nearly 70 of the patients in a Clinical Trial were still alive after a year on the drug. Researchers believe people with other forms of cancer may be cured, as well. Big day on the cancer front.
