Reporter the sky glowed orange in central idaho last night though fire crews say the flames are spreading a little less quickly. Firefighters battling the beaver creek wildfire were helped by cloud cover and plenty of manpower sunday. More than 1200 people including the national guard, 19 aircraft and 90 fire engines. The fire has burned 160 square miles but only grew about 12 square miles yesterday. 2300 homes near the celebrity vacation spots of ketchum and sun valley were evacuated and thousands of others who live here were told, be ready to quickly leave. Reporter some ski resorts are even turning on snowmaking equipment to try to protect their mountains. The area needs the help since a low pressure system coming ashore on the west coast may whip up the flames. That will inspire more thunderstorms and really kick up winds and more lightning. Fires are also threatening homes near the city of the dolls in oregon and in northern california. The group of fires started by lightning near the dolls are burning near dozens of houses as well as a Water Treatment facility. In butte county, hundreds of homes are in danger. Right now, more than 5,000 firefighters are battling 10 wildfires throughout the state, including one in boouk county, threatening 400 structures. The high fire danger is giving new urgency to a town hall meeting tonight on the future of Fire Protection services in the east bay. Budget problems and a tax has caused the costa county to cut seven engine districts. The district wants the community to give the input on the best way to provide protection.
