A heat advisory in effect today we are going to crank it up. Pretty warm by lunchtime and then hot and triple digit heat expected inland today. 90s around the bay. At the coast in the 0s. Miami marlins pitcher Jose Hernandez was killed early this morning in a boating accident. It happened around midnight our time they found the boat overturned that cashed into the crocs off miami beach. He was one of three people who died. He was originally scheduled to start tomorrows game. Officials say it does not appear drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. Trial by juryic loss for sit of mime, for the community, for major league baseball, and for anyone who met jose. A great person and its a great loss. I had the experience of talking to him several times. Downtoearth, a great person. Im sorry im getting goosebumps right now. Its really hitting home, and its horrible. Hernandez and the other two men on the boat were not wearing life jackets. He was just 24 years old. Former Miami Marlins pitcher Andrew Healey tweeted the world lost a charismatic and talented young man. The giants said we are deeply saddened by the tragic loss. Our hearts go out to joses family and the marlins organization. And in a statement, the marlins said they are devastated. The team has cancelled tos game against the braves. It does not show if officers were justified in the Fatal Shooting of a black man. The video appears to raise more questions than it answers. Police have been under heavy pressure to release the dashcam video. This one from an officers body cam following several nights of violent protests. Abc News Reporter eva pill gram was in charlotte and has more. One suspect down. This body cam video, partially silent, has another perspective. An officer waves his baton trying to get scott out of his vehicle. Scott is seen briefly walking in the parking lot and then seen mortally wounded as police advance with guns drawn. Officers appear to administer first aid. We need to hold the wound. Police also releasing pictures of the evidence taken from the scene, saying scotts dna and fingerprints were found on the loaded gun they recovered. Theres no single piece of evidence that proves all the complexities involved in this investigative process. What i see on the video is the failure of the police to use all of the resources that they had at their disposal to avoid killing keith. Family members be say 43yearold keith scott was just sitting in his s. U. V. Waiting to pick up his son from school. According to police, officers were in the neighborhood for an unrelated arrest warrant. They saw scott with marijuana and a gun, and made the decision to approach him. Due to those actions, do those precious seconds justify this shooting . What you know and what you should know about him is he was an american citizen who deserved better. Abc news, charlotte, north carolina. Sky 7 was above oakland as protesters marched in solidarity with those in charlotte. they marched last night. They often split up, run to go running to escape police. There was a heavy police presence. Officers stayed on the move and prevented them from reaching nearby highways. Several times protesters blocked 14th and broadway. Three people were arrested on suspicion of vandalism, and the obstruction of a peace officer. Abc7 news was at oaklands Mosswood Park yesterday as members of the black Community Came together for a group bike ride. It is called riding while black to promote unity, peace health within the black lives matter movement. Organizers stress they dont label it as a protest or a demonstration. Its a bike ride. Its just a bike ride where black people are gathering and being healthy and being together. The group rode through the city with a few stops in historically black neighborhoods. Oakland police are investigating a shooting that left one man dead. Officers are still work to go identify the man who was fatally shot. It happened this morning just after 1 00 on popular way in west oakland. Police say the victim got into a confrontation with someone and was shot. Police dont have a motif yet. No arrests have been made. This was the fourth shooting in oakland in just 24 hours. Developing news out of baltimore this morning. Police are looking for three gunmen who they say shot and injured 8 people, including a threeyearold girl. It happened last night around 5 30 our time. The armed men converged on the victims from different points. Police say this was for a Labor Day Weekend shooting that killed one man and injured two women. Officials said all 8 victims are expected to survivor. In Washington StateAuthorities Say the man suspected in a deadly mall shooting is in custody. 20yearold arcan cetin is suspected of killing four women and one man at a macys friday night. Investigators say one tip identified a car which helped them track down cetin, who did not put up a fight when arrested. I instantly recognized that is the person i just viewed on my computer. I did an abrupt uturn, hit my lights, pulled my gun, and my myself and my reserve deputy took the individual into custody. He said nothing. He was just kind of zombielike. Officials say its too early to rule out terrorism or anything else because the investigation is in its preliminary stages. Cetin is a u. S. Citizen who immigrated from turkey. On his Facebook Page he celebrated when Osama Bin Laden died. He was critical of president obama. Cetin was undergoing Mental Health treatment following a misdemeanor assault last year. This is what is left of a tour bus carrying more than a dozen chinese students. It crashed near yosemite. One student died and 11 others are in the hospital this morning. It happened last night around 5 30 north of oakhurst. Students between the ages of 12 and 14 and their chaperones were on board. The bus was chartered from the los angeles area. In the Oakland Hills a fire in the the horse trailer spread to the brush. Sky 7 was above highway 13 yesterday as the driver and horse walked away from the scene. A Police Escort followed to keep them safe on the highway. Crews were able to keep that fire from spreading to nearby homes. Traffic backed up to a crawl during the response. Teenagers at an Oakland Hospital try to put difficult times in San Francisco a man is in custody after a sixhour stand offer in the Civic Center Area right in front of city hall. He was waving a gun. The man was taken into San FranciscoGeneral Hospital for a mental and physical evaluation. After about six hours of negotiations, we were finally able to resolve this peacefully, and the subject eventually turned himself over. The first moments were tense. From sky 7 you can see all of civic center was closed to pedestrian traffic, as were nearby buildings, including the library and the asian art museum. The man was often waving his arms and officers aimed rifles at him. Tourists who hoped to get pictures of the city hall steps had to settle for shots from two blocks away and people parked in the cordonned off area were stranded. Your car is in there . The schools head coach said kaepernick reached out to him after hearing about what that High School Team was doing. The College Campaign is doubling down on their effort to support Collin Kaepernicks protest. Warriors general manager bob myers led a contingent from the teams Front Office Staff to a pickup game yesterday. They played against inmates at san quentin. The warriors take an annual trip to the prison for the game. Kevin durant, Draymond Green attended as part of the outreach program. They sat among inmates to watch action, signed autographs and even played some dominoes. After visiting san quentin, they hosted their Fourth Annual family basketball clinic. It was at the teams practice facility in oakland. Clay thompson along with grant and draymond were there to meet 100 parents and children. There were skills stations, shooting competitions and a wellness station. All proceeds from the clinic benefit the Warriors Community foundation, which is committed to supporting Youth Development in the bay area. Training camp begins on tuesday. Some teenagers suffering from serious illnesses or injuries got a Second Chance at what is considered a Young Persons right of passage, the prom. Reporter lights, camera, action its prom night for 100 teenagers. But this is no ordinary prom. Tonight is for survivors. Im grateful i have another chance at living. The teenagers at Kaiser Permanente oakland pediatric prom may have missed out on their own prom or first dance because of injury or illness. This is a doover of sorts that includes complimentary hair, makeup and formalwear. It gives the kids a chance to remember how life used to be. Its good for them to enjoy and be young again. Just be themselves. A lot of times they have to grow up older than they have to have all these treatments. Beautiful she is a year into her fight with leukemia. As she got ready, bittersweet tears fell from her eyes. Its incredible how life works. You battle through it, you try your hardest, and then you just overcome it. She asked her cousin to be her date for the special night. Im not big of a dancer but if she wants to do it, ill do it. And just support her and be here with her and try to make her happy. We were just listening to the Team President and now someone else talking about the accident that happened at 3 00 a. M. This morning outside miami. Thinking of that little kid. A little boy in but the way he played. There was just joy with him when he played. And when he pitched, i think thats what the guys a will say, too a, is with some of the stuff he would do, you just seek that little kid that you see when [sighing] when the kids played little league. Thats the joy that jose played with. And the passion he felt about playing. A lot of emotion we are hearing today. Jose, his personal transcended culture, religion and race. I mean, it just did. His story is a story well told and it will be told forever. When you talk about someone whose personality could outshine his talent, normally its the other way around.
