You had fog earlier. In santa cruz mid70s today. Right now its cool, but we will look for the numbers to climb to the 60s and 70s by noontime. By the afternoon we are just a little bit warmer, but the winds are going to be gusty on the coast, breezy around the bay, so that playoff set some of our cooling. But the week ahead, much warmer. The city of dallas is also dealing with a mass shooting that took the lives of five Police Officers. We are live in dallas with the latest. Good morning, kenneth. Good morning. Theres a lot of focus on the fallen officers. The memorial is growing by the hour. Today we are also learning more. Protests across the nation continue. Demonstration necessary minnesota against Police Brutality turns violent as protesters clash with police. Officers in riot gear came in with smoke bombs. Police across the country worked to keep the peace after recent Police Killings in st. Paul, minnesota and baton rouge where protesters faced off with Police Officers. Too many africanamerican males lives are being taken away from us and this has to stop. In Dallas Police surrounded their own headquarters after reports of a suspicious person in their garage. Sharpshooters and s. W. A. T. Teams were on the scene but the sweep turned up nothing. There was an incredible scene outside the d. Two voice barely visible patrol cars are there. The police chief told cnn johnson was planning a much larger attack than the one carried out thursday. We believe that the deaths in minnesota and the deaths in louisiana just sparked his dell losing to fast track his plans and saw the protest in dallas as an opportunity. Chief brown also said johnson had a journal of ramblings in his home and in the parking garage where he was killed, the man used his own blood to write letters on the wall. President obama returns to washington, d. C. Tonight before heading to dallas. Demonstrators are planning a peace protest on the marin side of the Golden Gate Bridge this morning at 11 00. They are outraged over the deaths of black men at the hands of police in louisiana and minnesota last week. And take a look. This is yesterday afternoon. 200 protesters stopping traffic in San Francisco. They brought the entrance to the bay bridge and i890 at fifth and bryant streets. Abc7 News Reporter Sergio Quintana was there. This is where the protesters made their last stand. They have a simple message. We want people to know what is actually going on, what Police Officers are actually out here doing and getting away with, and its not okay. But the problem is complicated. This round of demonstrations are in response to the officerinvolved shooting of at ton sterling in louisiana on tuesday and Philando Castile in minnesota on monday. They wanted to get on to the bay bridge to shut it down but they were met with a line of police and Highway Patrol officers. We rushed the freeway because thats the only way to get people to listen. Lots of people were caught up in traffic in the whole thing. What do you tell them . I tell them i apologize for the inconvenience but the only way to get people to look and do something. There was a lot of anger aimed at officers during the protests but the sniper shootings in dallas where five Police Officers were killed did affect protesters. I wouldnt wish death upon anyone because i have lost a loved one this senseless violence. After five hours the group disbursed without an arrests. Abc7 news. The Blue Ribbon Panel appointed to look into the inner workings of the San Francisco Police Department is expected to release their final report tomorrow. San Francisco Police commissioner, joe marshall, said the shootings in louisiana and minnesota are less likely to happen here. Thats because of the recent reforms of the Police Department and the Blue Ribbon Panel. Back in may that panel found the Department Lacks transparency and accountability. Marshall said the culture of policing has to change. Unless you make the changes, incidents like this, what happened in st. Paul and baton rouge, are liable to happen again. It will take change. The goal has to be to make the change. Marshal credits the acting Police Interim chief for the changes within the department. Today the University Ames church in palo alto is setting aside some time for people to come together to talk, pray and support each other. The church creates a safe place to vent and express feelings about the recent shootings. It starts at 1 30 this afternoon. In the north bay a fundraiser to help future Police Officers expanded because of the tragedy in dallas. Yesterday abc7 news was in American Canyon for the california cadet academys Public Safety fare. That event raises money for teenagers who are preparing for future careers in law enforcement. This year the volunteers also collected money for the families of the dallas officers who were killed. They tell us last weeks event has only strengthened interest in Emergency Service careers and support for them in napa county. It takes a certain type of person. Theres a lot of risk and you definitely have to put the needs of the community before yourself at all times. They are there to serve and protect us and to have that happen its kind of scary for anybody. Yesterdays fair included a bicycle rodeo, a car seat safety check, vehicle inspections and a distracted driving stimulator people in the bay area are showing their appreciation this weekend for the men and women helping to keep their community safe. The fbi has been called in to help find 57yearold elvira babb. She was kidnapped june 30th. Abc7 News Reporter Lisa Amin Gulezian has the story. She was too nice of a person for something to happen to her. Elvira or elvie babb lived alone in this onebedroom apartment. Crime scene detectives have covered every inch of the place in hopes of find being the 57yearold. Vallejo Police Arrested these four, who they say kidnapped babb. Her son got the ransom message. They got the message they would hurt her if they contacted the police and didnt deliver the amount of cash specified. Abc7 learned that this man was the ringleader and may have even been ba bbs neighbor several years ago. Heres an excerpt from a facebook quote he wrote. Im about to have to turn myself in and i need you all to pray for me right now. He was arrested in sacramento. Police believe the only motive was money. I cant believe it. She didnt have money. She was just barely making ends meet. She didnt have a car and relied on friends to drive her places. She was last seen at this seafood city store on june 29th and on the 30th her son rushed to her home after receiving the ransom demand, only to find her apartment empty and her dog dead. I think its terrible somebody could be took like that and we didnt hear anything. The more time that passes the more police worry. The victim has been gone for over a week so it causes us deep concern obviously. We are hopeful we will be able to locate her alive. None of the suspects are cooperating with police. Vallejo Police Originally thought the kidnapping of Denise Huskins back in 2015 was a hoax. Further investigation led to the arrest of matthew muller. Investigators say mullens drug and bound her before abducting her and eventually letting her go. His kidnapping trial is set to begin in january. A san jose woman is asking for help to find a burglar that broke into her car and made off a trunk that belonged to her boyfriend. It happened on thursday at 2 30 in the morning on bush street in san jose. A man wearing a red hoodie smashes the window and takes the trunk, along with other belongings. Video caught the burglary as it happened. The man drove off in a black pickup truck. She wants the trunk back saying it holds sentimental items of her boyfriends. Here you are looking at drugs, money and guns from a big bust yesterday from contra county detectives. They show this picture of 30,000 worth of heroin, ecstasy , methamphetamine and marijuana. You also see the cash. Detectes made the bust on thursday on a home in elkhorn way in antioch. Two people now face charges. This fire started yesterday afternoon in the Stevenson Ranch area. Officials evacuated at least 700 homes as a precaution, but those orders were lifted around 9 30 last night. The l. A. County fire captain said flames have come to within feet of homes. If you were up earlier, it was a lot cooler. But with all the sun now its 3 to 7 degrees cooler from san jose to antioch. Napa definitely feeling the cooler morning out there. From mt. The person drained his account then deposited this phony check and kept buying. Citibank investigated, but to his shock denied his fraud claim, saying he could have made those transactions.
