Good morning, im Carolyn Tyler. Thanks for joining us on this sunday, february continued. Lets start with a quick first look at the weather with lisa argen. Carolyn, weve picked up over a quarter inch and some of this is changing over to snow in lake county. Also mt. Hamilton, we have some thunderstorms embedded here who have moved through point reyes, as well. Weve got about a halfinch to maybe. 6inch offshore that will continue to rotate in through parts of the bay area. Theres the thunderstorm. Heres lake county where it is in the 30s and its changing over to snow. 680 and 580, livermore and pleasanton looking at the wet weather right now. Further south on the peninsula, you are getting it big time here from half moon bay, and down through the south bay. Here is where we are looking at the highest rainfall totals throughout the morning and afternoon. Mt. Hamilton is picking up the snow. So in the next couple of hours, this is when we will see the most rain around the bay area. Taking you through 11 00. Then by noontime its getting more scattered, especially in the north bay. If you want to take the bike ride for the hike, there probably is going to be a dry period throughout the day and maybe a few peaks of sun. The full forecast coming up. Carolyn. Com apps. We have developing news out of napa where police are investigating the death of a fouryearold Girl Found Dead in her bed. Police are looking for the girls mother, sarah kruger, and her boyfriend, ryan warner. They were last seen leaving their apartment yesterday morning. Police say the girl was found around 1 00 yesterday afternoon at an apartment on wilkins avenue. They say there were signs of blunt force trauma, which miff been the cause of death. Police say the mother and her boyfriend were last seen carrying luggage out of the apartment this morning. Saw her leaving with duffel bags and the boyfriend and no child. There were three of them living there. It was only supposed to be just her and her child living there. Authorities say they dont own a car. He is known to frequent the areas of fir field, vallejo and San Francisco and south San Francisco. In breaking news overnight, police are investigating the shooting deaths of two people in oakland. It happened around 11 00 last night on 24th street near market. One of the victims was a teenager, another a man in his 30s. Police say they were found on the sidewalk in front of a boys and girls club with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers arrived on scene. Ambulance and fire responded. They tried to attempt first aid, but unfortunately both victims succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced on scene. Police say they do not have any leads. In developing news, police are investigating the shooting death of a man at a bar this morning that happened just after midnight at the Green Lantern bar on san pablo avenue. They mound the man unresponsive in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Hes described as a 30yearold black man from richmond. He has not yet been identified. There have been no arrests. And we have a silver allot out of almeda county. 88yearold man was lift seen just before 10 00 last night. She speaks only russian and suffers from a medical condition and may become disoriented. Shes described as a white female, 53 with red hair and green eyes. Police say she might be wearing is green jacket with a brown purse. New details this morning, investigators say in your opinions at San Francisco General Hospital and a sheriffs dep duty share the blame in the death of a woman found in a hospital stairwell last fall accord to San Francisco chronicle, federal investigators say nurses failed to act on a doctors order that Lynn Spalding be watched around the clock. She vanished from her room on september 21st. They also concluded that a sheriffs deputy was told to search the hospital stairwells for spalding but he understood it as something he could do if he had free time. Spaldings body was found 17 days later during a routine check. The oakland teenager accused of killing his sister during a fight over laundry will be in court tomorrow. 17yearold Justice Toliver was shot to death inside an oakland apartment last month. Police say her 14yearold brother killed her because she bleached some of his clothing. He turned himself in last week. Justice leaves behind a threeyearold daughter. Oakland police have arrested two men in connection with a violent home robbery. Officers say the two armed suspects kicked in the door at a house on 17th street at 9 00 yesterday morning. They pointed guns at an 18monthold toddler, telling family members to keep the baby quiet. It was the second Home Invasion robbery in the same neighborhood in a week. I was really shocked to see there was a shooting in this neighborhood. Its been a very quiet neighborhood and im worried about the people who live here. If they cant be safe in the middle of day, its really an outrage and we need to do something. Thanks to witnesses, the suspects were taken into custody just a few blocks away. Neighbors have talked about hiring private security, but no final decision has been made. Turning now to californias drought, very little rain and little water in reserve. It is so bad some people are turning to the power of prayer to bring rain to california. Abc7 News Reporter sergio has the details. Drying out reservoirs and parks, lake beds, images of the ongoing drought in california. But some by area residents say they arent sure everybody understands how bad the situation maybe they hear it on tv and they are like, oh, theres a shortage of water but they around getting the whole idea. Its trial not raining much and he arent getting water period. The state announced it would stop water deliveries to local agencies if the drought continues and San Francisco announced they would cut water use by 10 . We are asking residents, commercial, wholesale, municipal and industry to all chip in. This is a serious issue that we are facing. That means San Francisco recreation and parks will be scaling back when they water the 220 parks and green spaces. I grew up with six kids. We had five minute showers. Get in, get out really quick. He lives in oakland where the east bay district water board will be meeting in a little over a week to decide if they will adopt new water restrictions as well. Usuf lives in los altos. He worries some. His neighbors around conserving at all. I tried to speak to a few neighbors of mine and the sprinklers are on twice a day. I couldnt change their minds. This group is praying for rain. They were at the Alameda County fair grounds. In cases of extreme drought, they taught the Muslim Community about 1400 years ago in arabia, they had droughts as well. So whenever that happened he had a special prayer he did. The prayer was organized by the San Francisco chapter of the council on American Islamic relations. Abc7 news. This drought is considered one of the worst in california history. Last year are there was less rain than in any year since california became a state. Most of the state experienced record dry, including the bay area. Only exceptions are parts of southern c. There is some rain as you know, the governor has declared a drought emergency in the state. Today here in the bay area, something to help a bit. We will take every drop. Lisa argen along shortly with the full accuweather forecast. Seven people, including three children, are displaced this morning after a fire spread through an apartment complex in gilroy. Investigators say that fire started in a kitchen last night. Abc7 News Reporter Lisa Amin Gulezian has the details. The things that made these apartments home to seven people are destroyed. The fire started in unit number 11s kitchen around 6 30. It took just a few minutes to burn the twobedroom apartment. Once it got going and burning the contents of this apartment, it broke through the windows and then came up through and got into the windows of the upstirs. The two men in that apartment got out safely. They quickly caused other neighbors to help. I went outside and i seen the the fire was already out by the time regina and her family got home and saw what was left. A relative hold me the kitchen stove has been malfunctioning for months. She still had the problem. Until investigators piece together what happened, those living in the complexs other eight units had no choice but to stand by and wait. This man grabbed a few pairs of clothes in case the entire building would be offlimits, but it wasnt for just about everyone. Apartment managers gave those in the burnt units a place stay in another complex. In gilroy, Lisa Amin Gulezian, abc7 news. An explosion during a fire in sausalito last with night was captured on video. Flames caused a quarter million damage to a dive shop on liberty ship way which is right on the water. Firefighters had a tough time fighting the flames because the only access was on a narrow dock. Well, the biggest game of the year is just hours away. Mr. Bradley takes a look at the massive security surrounding the socalled mass transit super bowl. Super bowl [yelling and cheering] its the first time the northeast has had a taste. Tonight the main event, an outdoor cold weather gridiron showdown before 80,000 fans at new jerseys met life stadium. The denver broncos, the nfls best offense, against the seattle seahawks, the leagues best defense. Go seahawks broncos the game might be on the side of the hudson river, but new yorkers feel like they are hosting. This is a new york game. What . Said new jersey residents. If its in new jersey, they should say its in new jersey. Definitely. The big game is dubbed the mass transit super bowl. About twothirds of people going will arrive by bus or rail. They will be subject to unprecedented security. Fighter jets patrolling the skies. Police boats guarding the water. Specialized nypd units and teams will check anyone with packages. We will have technologies that you are going to see and some you are not going to see. We want to make sure we are creating the safest possible environment on super bowl sunday. Tonights halftime show belongs to bruno mars, who asked the Red Hot Chili Peppers to join them. The stadium is on lock down. There is no specific threat, but authorities are leaving nothing to chance. There will be another super battle today on social media. Facebook and twitter want to dominate online chatter during the game on a sort of second screen. Each company hoping to attract users commenting on big plays, the halftime show and, of course, the commercials. Google is the clear winner this year in the Super Bowl Advertising game. Although the mountain viewbased company has not disclosed their earnings for the premiere football event, almost every prereleased Super Bowl Ad or teaser is posted to their youtube unit. Thats the cute puppy love. That hearttugging anheuserbusch spot has racked up more than 23 Million Viewers since wednesday. Marketers have ditched their old super bowl element of surprise in hopes that releasing teasers that will capture more viewers on game day. Knew this morning, it is official, there will be six more weeks of winter. That is according to Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog. His handlers say he saw his shadow early this morning. Its the first time phil made his appearance on the day of the nfl championship. Organizers estimate about 20,000 came out to attend the event in western pennsylvania. We will take a forecast like that even if its from a critter who has no or anything else. We need wintry weather. We are getting the winds. The rain is change to go snow at Higher Elevations and even some thunderstorms off the coast. Live doppler 7hd right now. The east bay valleys, livermore you picked up a couple hundredth. Say a look at this picture. The coastal hills looking at moderate rain. Lick county. 8 00 it changed over to snow in mendocino county. We still have plenty of moisture. Looks like by the Late Afternoon we will get into some clearing. But a thunderstorm off of point reyes. You see the heavier showers here. Right now highway 101 looking at the wet weather. More heavy rain, moderate run, has been moving into livermore. So you havent seen that much. Right now 580 and 680 its picking up. Right here along the peninsula, the san mateo coast, look at the half moon bay, the moderate rain down through sunnyvale. Now its beginning to fill in and over through mt. Hamilton. Yes, its changing over. Lets take a look. Area of low pressure is offshore. And the counter clockwise flow is wishing up the moisture into the bay area. You see a few thunderstorms light up here. We will look for the progression of this to slide down the coast throughout the afternoon. And that will mean the rain is going to end first in the north bay. It will become more widely scattered. Boy, is it chilly out there. Have you noticed only in the 40s. We have winds 20 do 30 miles an hour. And its making it feel much cooler than that. Raindrops on the lens here outside our studios where weve picked up. 15 already. Doesnt sound like a lot but considering out parched we were, it sounds good. Snow lake county, mt. Hamilton, and more rain headed our way by Late Wednesday into thursday. She are the gusty winds. Up to 27 miles an hour in heighter elevations. Its very breezy out there, as well. The next couple of hours we are looking at more rain. The focus will be in the coastal hills, the south bay. But this is going to begin to become more widely scattered and we will see some of this snow accumulate up in lake county. By 3 00 marin and sonoma should be dry but we still have wet weather over into the east bay and the south bay. Even the heavier rain will be in the south bay, the santa cruz mountains. But 8 00 tonight we have partly cloudy skies. Its going to be a chilly evening. Not much snow for the Sierra Nevada but we are looking at the totals from a ten together inch in the green shaded area. Not bad. In fact, we will see the temperatures today much, much cooler. In fact below normal. How about 56 for san mateo if we get there . We will probably still see numbers in the upper 40s around clear lake and cloverdale and the accuweather sevenday forecast, showers with a chance of thunderstorms. 40s and 50s today. Sunny tomorrow and tuesday. But dont despair. We are clouding up and looking at more rain by thursday, maybe a few drops on friday and by next weekend we have got, it looks like, a more significant system headed our way.
