Some people cant get enough of the old bay bridge, even though its been closed for about three weeks. Taggers and trespassers are sneaking on to the closed span. Abc7 News Reporter john alston has the story. Reporter well, that didnt take long. Taggers left their mark on the old eastern span of the bay bridge which is supposed to be offlimits to the public. Its graffiti with a huge risk. I kind of think its kind of foolish, actually, because if theres nobody there and theres barriers and they get injured, they are going on the outside of the structure, they can fall, get hurt. Within the past few days drivers noticed the new paint job on the side of the old scurve near the tunnel. Its bound to happen eventually. Thats what i thought. People, you know, there is tagging everywhere. It is also presenting a serious security issue for caltrans which still owns the defunct bridge and the chp which must keep unwanted people off the old road deck. They caught one or two the very first week the new bridge opened. Trespassing is a misdemeanor, and they can be charged with a misdemeanor offense of trespassing. Obviously for their safety we dont want people to be up there. But that is apparently happening, despite the barricades. And even though this is considered a Construction Zone slated for demolition. The idea is for people to not be on the span of the bridge. We have things set up that i cant talk about, but in addition to that we have officers patrolling. And the chp said violators will be prosecuted if they are caught. Abc7 news. Drivers across the state could be in for a big treat by halloween. They are the hottest printers on the market, even though the repetitive motion reminds people of oldfashioned dot matrix printers. 3d printing is the most Amazing Technology because complexity is free. This is what they can make, toys and figures and medical implants, fabric for clothing, base for a guitar and something edible such as candy. Its a completely new Business Model enabled by the ability to make complex parts on demand in a batch size of one. The technology has been around since the 80s, but its time has come as the demand is growing in the medical, automotive and fashion world. With that comes concern about counterfeiting. You have the actual design problem where people can do knockoffs very simply. Thats offset by other benefits that has drawn 1700 engineers and venture capitalists to this conference in san jose.
