This morning. A two ton truck derailed causing major delays between North Concord and pittsford stations. It happened just after 5 30 and that caused a stoppage of service between those stations for about an hour. B. A. R. T. Officials say riders can expect delays of at least 20 minutes. No one was hurt in the incident. All of the rest of the trains are operating normally. And we also have some developing news out of fremont where the death of a man closed niles canyon road. Fremont police were called to the scene around 8 30 last night. They launched a helicopter to look for a person of interest but were unsuccessful. Police are calling the mans death suspicious but will not say why. Detectives are continuing with the investigation. Niles canyon road is now open. A deadly beating at a bay area gym leaves friends of a victim stunned asking how could this have happened . This morning what the suspect told his daughter just minutes before his arrest. 46yearold Kenneth Osako is accused of killing 43yearold diego galindo. Alan wang has details. Reporter he has stunned the meat market where he worked. His fellow employees are collect ing money for his funeral. He was close to my kids. He grew up with the kids, took care of him, soccer practice, movies, to the beach. Reporter galindo was bludgeoned to death at ballys. 46yearold Kenneth Osako, a plumber from south San Francisco, was arrested. Police say he struck galindo in the back of the head with a steel gym bar. His daughter told us why. He just told me quickly that he a man was trying to talk to his girlfriend. Reporter she says she spoke to her father shortly before he was arrested the day before the incide incident. It happened so suddenly, so quickly. And ive seen my dad get overtaken by anger before, so i can just picture him being so ang angry. Reporter she says she suspects her father is bipolar but hes never been diagnosed. Police served a search warrant at his home and gathered evidence. She apologized to galindos family. I would lake to give the family peace of mind if they want to know anything or if they want to ask me anything. I mean, i am here for them. Reporter osako is being held without bail and will likely make his First Court Appearance on monday. In south San Francisco alan wang, abc 7 news. Concern is growing this morning for a teenaged girl from santa rosa missing for more than two days. Family members say they last saw 16yearold rebecca weaver in her bedroom wednesday night. The 58, 145pound rebecca, a student at continuation high school, is believed to have run away. Rebecca has a medical condition that requires medication, and she doesnt have it with her. According to the Santa Rosa Press democrat, family members say a breakup with a boyfriend may have prompted her to leave. The family of the man shot and killed by a Richmond Police officer last week will hold a rally and a News Conference today. Police Officials Say 24 year queer Richard Perez was unarmed but trying to take the officers gun during a struggle last saturday night. According to the perez family attorney, several witnesses dispute that claim. The rally will be held today at noon in richmonds nickels park following Funeral Services for perez. Roj eager goodell says hes sorry and said it many times yesterday. He broke his silence after a week and a half of seemingly daily embarrassments for the league. San francisco animal control officers want to talk to the former owners of eight dogs all left inside a home without anyone caring for them. Sheriffs deputies discovered the abandoned dogs. She and others decided it was time to bring the legacy of the movement to the stage. The performances take place around the police car which back then became the platform for speakers like mario savio. She says she wants people to know how the movement inspired students around the nation. To oppose the war in vietnam and to begin the Womens Movement and the antiapartheid struggles. Reporter the music is performed by daniel, he was almost 16 when his father died. Though hes no longer with us, mario savio often thought about this moment and how people would react to the Free Speech Movement 50 years later. He had this idea that that would be long enough to take some sort of perspective. I think he would be a little sad about the way things have gone, but there are reasons to hope, too. The play captures the passion and moral purpose of those too young to know how the movement would be interpreted 50 years later. Reporter you decided to go public after Robin Williams died and it was revealed that he had parkinsons disease. Well, the basic reason was that after 12 1 2 years you get to the point you know youre going to have to go public at some point. When i saw robin had it and was diagnosed five months before, i basically didnt think that would be the reason that he would have committed suicide and i wanted people to basically understand that ive lived with it for 12 years and its not a death sentence. Members of the alternative school in the marina will take part in the walk amount fourth grader got her school involved to honor her greatgrandparents. Both died of the disease. Alzheimers, a form of dementia, is the sixth leading cause of death in the united states. All the money raised in todays walk will go to alzheimers research.
