Come forward. Alan wang shows us what happened. Reporter the woman in this video has no idea she is being targeted by two young men who dont realize they are being caught on camera. The robbers stole her purse on east 17th street in oakland. They were exposed by surveillance cameras and Police Arrested them. Investigators released this video in hopes there might be other victims out there who have not come forward yet. Reporter we went back to the same block and found a woman who says her purse was stolen and she was pistol whipped on the same day within the same hour as the woman in the video. Im so scared theyll kill me. We showed her video of suspects. That is him, im sure it is him. Reporter the woman reported the incident when it happened but she didnt realize that her neighbor had been mugged. Reporter what do you think your neighborhood needs to do now . Im not sure. Reporter would it help if you communicated and talked and got together . I think so. Community involvement is paramount. Chinatown is perfect example of a community mobilizing against crime. People should say, time to do something. Reporter police help them set up a Crime Prevention council and crime was cut down substantially. Cameras were rolling for this victim but now police want neighbors to organize, communicate and cooperate with them. The reason being is police say the criminals are better organized than the pains in. In fact police say the two men they arrested are part of a gang that has been victimizing oakland residents for some time. Katie a dozen members of local gangs were taken off the streets during predawn raids yesterday morning. The operation spanned the entire bay area with the help of 14 other Law Enforcement agencies. They served 24 high risk search warrants, 20 of them in oakland, two in antioch, one in pacifica and one in brentwood. This video shows a remote controlled robot scouting some of the targeted locations. The results of the raid, there were 12 arrests of members of two of the citys most notorious gangs. Police are looking for half a dozen more suspects. There were key people that we know were involved in violent crime. Those were the people that we went after today. Katie in all month, an hundred members of Law Enforcement were involved in the raids. New this morning, san jose has seen a spike in crimes like burglaries and car thefts. Mercury news looked at crime stats. 28,000 property crimes were reported in 2012 and that is nearly 30 increase over 2011 and the highest figure since 1995. It is generally a reflection of statewide trends for more property crimes. San jose ranks fifth among biggest large cities. Our reporter has been on the scene in American Canyon all morning joining us with details. As you said it all started with an Armed Robbery at walmart. This man stole a tv and then led police on a highspeed chase mentioned a quiet mobile home park. It was just after 4 00 a. M. And proceeded to drive through the yards of these two mobile homes feet away where people were sleeping. He tore through the front yard all before police got him. This is video you are looking from moments after the chase ended. He had rammed his truck in the back of one of the patrol cars. Witness i spoke with was watching tv when he heard screaming coming down his street. He saw the suspects truck headed straight for his neighbors home. He is going to plow into their bedroom and that is where their heads are. The bed is up against that wall. He could have killed him. Reporter fortunately no one was hurt. Officers and neighbors are all okay. The suspect was taken to the hospital after officers tased him to get him into custody. He will be booked including murder and Armed Robbery. Katie dramatic stuff. Thank you. New this morning, president obama says he remains focused on finding a way to replace the automatic spending cuts that took place on march 1st. He hopes to break the gridlock. In his weekly address the president says the nations economy remains his top priority but willing to reach out to republicans to find Common Ground on Immigration Reform and gun control, as well. Earlier this week i met with republican senators to see if there were smarter ways to grow our economy and reduce our deficits than to arbitrate cuts and socalled sequester that went into place. We had an open conversation about gun violence and other areas we can Work Together to mo of the country forward.
