over recent police shootings in the city. the frisco five said they were end be their 17-day-long hunger strike. they were admitted to the hospital friday because of declining health. they say their causes will be better served by staying and fighting rather than starving and dying. the announcement came hours after religious leaders offered them a prayer for strength. >> they have shown enormous were arrested. in the east the bay police arrested two people after a fire ripped through a home in hayward. first we will show you the video of one of those arrests. police say this woman was intoxicated and interfering with firefighters on sleepy hollow avenue. one officer took her down to the ground and she needed medical attention. earlier yesterday you see flames and smoke pouring out of the home in this video shot by a neighbor across the street. no one was hurt, but neighbors watching it all were concerned. >> everything was on fire and you could hear crackling and popping in the house. we thought maybe the house was going to blow up. >> officers also handcuffed the homeowner after the fire. they say he was seen leaving the home shortly after the fire started and then returned a short time later. police questioned and later released him. >> new details on the stabbing death of a long time san francisco public defender. police sources confirm marleau suffered 40 stab wounds friday morning. authorities have arrested her nephew for the murder and friends are absolutely horrified by this violent crime. abc7 news alyssa harrington has the story. marla zamora was a force of nature. >> maria remembers her friend, marlo zamora, who police say was killed by her own they have. the women worked until until she retired in 2007. >> for me in particular, she was the only role model i had as a latino woman at the public defenders woman. she took me under her wing. >> we don't know what happened between zamora and her nephew. neighbors said they heard yelling and saw her bloodied in the backyard. she was stabbed many times. police arrested 20-year-old nephew. he was found inside and covered in blood. >> all i could say is she loved her family very much, and she was always trying to help her family. >> all day friends, former clients and co-workers stopped by to pay respects to the long time attorney outside her home. gail added to the growing pile of flowers. >> holiday inn on doolittle drive about a mile away in oakland. police followed a suspicious vehicle to this parking lot where the driver lost control and crashed. several people inside the car ran away. fill open positions are drying up. help wanted signs are posted all over and for the first time they are staying up for months. >> it's very expensive to live in san francisco. if you are a cook making $30,000 a year, it's tough to make that decision to stay in the industry. >> a one bedroom in san francisco goes for about $3,000 a month. restaurant owners admit they can't afford to pay the employees enough to stay in the city where they want to work. >> i have people who want to move here from san diego or sacramento or wherever and i don't even talk to them because i know they can't afford to come here, right? >> we can't relocate. >> which is why many are leaving the restaurant industry and finding jobs at tech startups or even uber drivers. >> a friend helped a friend get a job at a restaurant be but he quit shortly after starting. >> working as a uber driver works more as a busboy or cook. >> hiring bus boys and cooks take the longest since those positions don't always have attacked from all sides. republican donald trump was in washington state where he tried to refocus the split within his own party and back on to his fight against hillary clinton. some of the biggest names in the party are refusing to support the presumptive nominee, including lindsey graham and jeb bush and the house speaker paul ryan. elizabeth warren in massachusetts is in a twitter war with the bill their. she accused him of being a racist and spouting lies. >> she is a goofus, she is a goofus. >> warren called her nickname for him, lame. and some said it looked like he bit off more than he could choo, attacking senator warren. after sweeping primary wins knocked his final gop rivals from the presidential race, donald trump goes one-on-one with george stephanopoulos. we will talk department of elections will open the city hall voting center. anyone registered to vote in the city can cast a ballot at the center during the 29 day voting period before or on the june 7th primary day. several staff members will be there to help you with any questions you may have. it will be open weekdays from 8:5 and the two weekends before election day. >> and an effort to spruce up a years. abc7 news joined a fiesta for moms in oakland yesterday. it was a social mother's day celebration at fruitvale transit village. moms got a taste of local culture and education and break dancing the delta maybe an isolated shower for you this morning. and along the diablo range. not totally out of the question, but certainly not likely as the shower activity really is dissipating around the bay. so a live look from a dark san jose this morning. mostly cloudy skies. sunny and warmer conditions for tomorrow into tuesday. that should be one of the warmest days of the week. wednesday lacking pleasant and the temperatures kind of level off to more seasonal readings the rest of the work week. low clouds and fog will be back and the onshore flow. the rain helps out with the pollen, but lack what happens comes wednesday and thursday after we dry out the next couple of days. and then things begin to get a little uncomfortable with juniper, olive and the cedar trees as that will remain high throughout the middle and end of the week. that could be a little uncomfortable. as we go through the rest of the day you will notice that the clouds still with us. we will get those breaks by the afternoon here and there. and look be at temperatures coming up out of the 60s for some of our inland valleys. we will skip ahead to tuesday where 80s arrive for napa, concord, livermore. low 70s oakland and hayward. by wednesday cooling off just a couple degrees with a steadier on shore push. still 60 at the coast. upper 60s in sunnyvale. 70s san jose. on the peninsula lack for 64 in milbrae, 67 menlo park, 69 for you in mountain view. san francisco partly to mostly cloudy skies. 53 downtown and 69 in daly city. in the north bay you will see some mid-60s from san rafael. 68 sonoma, 66 calistoga. east bay 67 for you. in hayward and oakland. 68 fremont. you head inland a couple 70s there around pittsburgh and fair field. the accuweather seven-day forecast featuring sunshine, more so students joined other hardworking kids to play a variety of games and go through courses. the 49ers hosted yesterday's event which included a few of the players. the gilroy garlic fries have become such a big hit there's now a shortage. they introduced them two weeks ago at four south bay locations. they became so popular mcdonald's will be out of the fries for a few weeks. the company bay to near 70 inland. chris. >> lisa, that's correct. we have developing news out of southeastern china whereas many as 35 workers have been buried under rocks and mud following a landslide at a construction site. china's president is calling for maximum rescue efforts to find the workers. chinese officials say it's still unclear what caused the landslide, but the area at seen at least 8 inches of rain in the past few days. residents are being warned tore weary of possible landslides brought on by heavy rain. a fire in canada weeks to put out. it's forced nearly 100 be thousand people adding to his league leading 8 goals in the playoffs. san jose beat them 5-1 taking a 3-2 series lead. game six is back in nashville. >> protesters are planning a general strike tomorrow at city hall over recent police shootings in the city. the frisco five said they were end be their 17-day-long hunger strike. they were admitted to the hospital friday because of declining health. they say their causes will be better served by staying and fighting rather than starving and dying. the announcement came hours after religious leaders offered them a prayer for strength. >> they have shown enormous courage and dedication. they have served our community so well by lifting up so much pain and anger that goes back for decades in our communities because of the way people in our communities have been treated by law enforcement. >> friday night pro protesters who supported the frisco five stormed city hall. they made it into the entrance before deputies blocked their path. a total of 33 protesters were arrested. in the east the bay police arrested two people after a fire ripped through a home in hayward. first we will show you the video of one of those arrests. police say this woman was intoxicated and interfering with firefighters on sleepy hollow avenue. one officer took her down to the ground and she needed medical attention. earlier yesterday you see flames and smoke pouring out of the home in this video shot by a neighbor across the street. no one was hurt, but neighbors watching it all were concerned. >> everything was on fire and you could hear crackling and popping in the house. we thought maybe the house was going to blow up. >> officers also handcuffed the homeowner after the fire. they say he was seen leaving the home shortly after the fire started and then returned a short time later. police questioned and later released him. >> new details on the stabbing death of a long time san francisco public defender. police sources confirm marleau suffered 40 stab wounds friday morning. authorities have arrested her nephew for the murder and friends are absolutely horrified by this violent crime. abc7 news alyssa harrington has the story. marla zamora was a force of nature. >> maria remembers her friend, marlo zamora, who police say was killed by her own they have. the women worked until until she retired in 2007. >> for me in particular, she was the only role model i had as a latino woman at the public defenders woman. she took me under her wing. >> we don't know what happened between zamora and her nephew. neighbors said they heard yelling and saw her bloodied in the backyard. she was stabbed many times. police arrested 20-year-old nephew. he was found inside and covered in blood. >> all i could say is she loved her family very much, and she was always trying to help her family. >> all day friends, former clients and co-workers stopped by to pay respects to the long time attorney outside her home. gail added to the growing pile of flowers. >> she was kind and generous. she was a good neighbor. >> zamora worked for the public defender's office for 29 years. she set up a private practice and was still taking cases until her death. in san francisco, alyssa harrington, abc7 news. >> police in san leandro are trying to find several people accused in an early morning burglary and possible shooting yesterday. this is where it ended at the holiday inn on doolittle drive about a mile away in oakland. police followed a suspicious vehicle to this parking lot where the driver lost control and crashed. several people inside the car ran away. 6:07 is our time. a quick reminder for bart service this morning. theres no train service between the san leandro and bay fair station. it's part of the ongoing work to repair equipment and track. bart is running a bus bridge for passengers but delays are likely. the work is scheduled for additional weekends through jun. there's a new powerball winner this morning. one ticket sold in new jersey matched all six numbers last night to win the 7th largest jackpot in the game's history. $429 million. one ticket sold in san jose matched five of the six numbers abc7 news was at cast and flask restaurants are having harder time than ever filling their positions. abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian explains. >> san francisco's restaurant scene continues to be hot, but the candidates to fill open positions are drying up. help wanted signs are posted all over and for the first time they are staying up for months. >> it's very expensive to live in san francisco. if you are a cook making $30,000 a year, it's tough to make that decision to stay in the industry. >> a one bedroom in san francisco goes for about $3,000 a month. restaurant owners admit they can't afford to pay the employees enough to stay in the city where they want to work. >> i have people who want to move here from san diego or sacramento or wherever and i don't even talk to them because i know they can't afford to come here, right? >> we can't relocate. >> which is why many are leaving the restaurant industry and finding jobs at tech startups or even uber drivers. >> a friend helped a friend get a job at a restaurant be but he quit shortly after starting. >> working as a uber driver works more as a busboy or cook. >> hiring bus boys and cooks take the longest since those positions don't always have access to tips. >> it's been hard to get a staff put together. we have been working on it for a couple of months. >> those in the industry say possible solutions may be to raise prices for consumers to then increase salaries in the kitchen. in san francisco, lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. turning to politics, only one presidential candidate was out campaigning yesterday and it's the one getting attacked from all sides. republican donald trump was in washington state where he tried to refocus the split within his own party and back on to his fight against hillary clinton. some of the biggest names in the party are refusing to support the presumptive nominee, including lindsey graham and jeb bush and the house speaker paul ryan. elizabeth warren in massachusetts is in a twitter war with the bill their. she accused him of being a racist and spouting lies. >> she is a goofus, she is a goofus. >> warren called her nickname for him, lame. and some said it looked like he bit off more than he could choo, attacking senator warren. after sweeping primary wins knocked his final gop rivals from the presidential race, donald trump goes one-on-one with george stephanopoulos. we will talk about how he plans to gain support from republican voters. you can watch the full interview on "this week" with george stephanopoulos at 8:00 this morning at abc7. tomorrow the san francisco department of elections will open the city hall voting center. anyone registered to vote in the city can cast a ballot at the center during the 29 day voting period before or on the june 7th primary day. several staff members will be there to help you with any questions you may have. it will be open weekdays from 8:5 and the two weekends before election day. >> and an effort to spruce up a lot of the rain in the north bay came down late through the overnight hours. we had a couple good downpours from marin to sonoma. 55 novato. 55 in livermore. concord, good morning to you. 56. and by the delta maybe an isolated shower for you this morning. and along the diablo range. not totally out of the question, but certainly not likely as the shower activity really is dissipating around the bay. so a live look from a dark san jose this morning. mostly cloudy skies. sunny and warmer conditions for tomorrow into tuesday. that should be one of the warmest days of the week. wednesday lacking pleasant and the temperatures kind of level off to more seasonal readings the rest of the work week. low clouds and fog will be back and the onshore flow. the rain helps out with the pollen, but lack what happens comes wednesday and thursday after we dry out the next couple of days. and then things begin to get a little uncomfortable with juniper, olive and the cedar trees as that will remain high throughout the middle and end of the week. that could be a little uncomfortable. as we go through the rest of the day you will notice that the clouds still with us. we will get those breaks by the afternoon here and there. and look be at temperatures coming up out of the 60s for some of our inland valleys. we will skip ahead to tuesday where 80s arrive for napa, concord, livermore. low 70s oakland and hayward. by wednesday cooling off just a couple degrees with a steadier on shore push. still 60 at the coast. upper 60s in sunnyvale. 70s san jose. on the peninsula lack for 64 in milbrae, 67 menlo park, 69 for you in mountain view. san francisco partly to mostly cloudy skies. 53 downtown and 69 in daly city. in the north bay you will see some mid-60s from san rafael. 68 sonoma, 66 calistoga. east bay 67 for you. in hayward and oakland. 68 fremont. you head inland a couple 70s there around pittsburgh and fair field. the accuweather seven-day forecast featuring sunshine, more so construction site. china's president is calling for maximum rescue efforts to find the workers. chinese officials say it's still unclear what caused the landslide, but the area at seen at least 8 inches of rain in the past few days. residents are being warned tore weary of possible landslides brought on by heavy rain. a fire in canada weeks to put out. it's forced nearly 100 be thousand people gear today to atkinson park with mostly cloudy skies. a few areas of sun throughout the afternoon. 61 degrees. the accuweather seven-day forward. upper 60s around the bay. still in the upper 60s coastside. looks like the warmest days will be tuesday and wednesday. and then slightly cooler with more of a summertime pattern, the low cloud and fog back at the coast each and every day. so, yeah.
