Sheri and her partner love the outdoors but the accident of the pines have been interrupted by severe sinus infections. Since january some of my sinuses completely occluded so the antibiotics werent get to go the infection and i was constantly sick. San francisco ear, nose and throat specialist, dr. Kim, recommended surgery to open the sinuses. Its an uncomfortable procedure, especially the first days when packing is used to allow it to heel. In patients impacted with tradition natural methods, its inflamed and swollen inside. The doctor turned to a new device. Its a collapsable ring that works Something Like a cardiac stint, expand to go keep the walls of the sinuses open after surgery. First its collapsed on to an applicator and placed into the repaired sinus cavity immediately following surgery. When hes ready to deploy he pushes the back button to deploy the stint into the sinuses. Once in place, it delivers an antiinflammatory drug as seen here provided by the manufacturer. Lisa said the technique is wellestablished in other areas of the body. The theory was similar to what is actually used in cardiovascular devices. You are basically putting in an implant that opens up the passageway, and in this case opens up the sinuses, and delivers the drug locally exactly where you need it. She said it reduced the need for followup surgeries by nearly a third in clinical trials. The device itself can be removed by the dock or are to left to dissolve overtime. It helps are prevent scarring which can also happen as part of the Natural Healing process. The body tends to like to cover over wounds with scars and that could be a problem in the sinuses. For sheri its been a comfortable recovery from surgery but shes now hoping for longerterm benefits at the sinuses recover. If it means i dont constantly getting sick, it will be worth it.
