tonight in new hampshire. vic lee, abc 7 news. flight radar shows an air france flight destined for san francisco making several loops over the english channel before heading back to paris. experts theorize the flight was diverted after news broke of the attack on the radisson hotel in mali. air france flights to and from the country were canceled earlier today as a precautionary measure. in the west african country of mali, united nations officials says 27 people were killed in an attack on a hotel this morning including one american. gunmen chatting inting allahu taking hostages and shooting everywhere. the hotel was hosting united nations delegation and at least five u.s. department of defense personnel. an al qaeda affiliated group has claimed responsibility. the recent attacks of unnerved americans who now fear a terror attack on u.s. soil could happen. according to an abc news/"the washington post" poll 83% of registered voters believe an attack on the u.s. is likely in the near future. the poll finds a majority of americans want the u.s. to join a military response to the paris attacks including air strikes against isis and ground troops. but the poll finds public hesitation about a major military commitment. more americans say the u.s. should play a supporting role. strong words from the pope. he says all the atrocities happening around the world have turned christmas into a charade. he says festivities are empty because the world is choosing war over peace. there is an urgent search for the eighth attacker who may have posed as a refugee. david muir is going to have more on the hunt on "world news" at 5:30. the family of a man shot and killed outside an oakland nightclub is taking legal action against the club. the 26-year-old emilio valdez was killed in april, he was an innocent bystander. the gunman remains on the loose tonight. his mother sat down with abc 7. melonie has the story. >> reporter: this was a difficult interview. his mom understandably so still grieving the loss of her son. we went to the golden bull restaurant to speak with the owner about a lawsuit that will be filed on monday. and that is when we discovered new bullet holes outside. the owner says there was another shooting last night. on easter sunday the music for the valdez family stopped. >> why is this happening to me? why is this happening to our family? >> reporter: bernadette was waiting for a call from her son. instead oakland p.d. called. >> your son has been shot and he's dead. >> reporter: 26-year-old emilio was shot outside golden bull bar, he had just finished performing at a friend's birthday. police said he was an innocent bystander. >> at that point i got the ham and i threw it in the garbage. and at that point that's pretty much how the day went. >> reporter: there are no plans for thanksgiving. >> we lost everything. and not all the christmas trees and presents in the world or the turkey on the table, none of that will ever make it right for me. >> we believe that the bouncers work for the club and that the club is 100% responsible for this. >> reporter: attorney will file wrongful death lawsuit on the family's behalf monday. he says the suspect made threats at the club earlier in the evening that had nothing to do with emilio. >> they didn't call the police. they didn't do anything to protect him. >> we are willing to do whatever it takes to help get this shooter caught. >> reporter: the club's owner says they turned over surveillance video to opd. there are fresh bullet holes from thursday night outside golden bull bar, one bullet broke the glass of a neighboring business. no one was hurt. >> just another shooting, you know. i can't tie the two together. >> these kind of crimes have to be solved otherwise that person will go out another day, another night and pull out that gun. and it will be another person, another innocent person. >> reporter: there is a $42,000 reward for information in emilio's murder. an oakland police department spokesperson told me nobody was available to talk about the april shooting. i later inquired again about last night's shooting. i have not heard back. in the newsroom, melonie, abc 7 news. thanks very much. two women in critical condition after a car hit them in a crosswalk in walnut creek this morning. police say the women were both in their 60s. they were crossing oak grove road near walnut avenue about 8:30 in the morning when they were hit. the driver, a woman in her 20s stopped and is cooperating with police. investigators do not believe that driver was under the influence or on the phone or texting before the accident. san francisco mayor ed lee says the city's vision zero policy for safer streets for bicyclists and pedestrians has reached an important milestone. the mayor announced today 24 safety project first proposed back in 2014 have been completed. more than three months ahead of schedule. >> we're going to add six more data driven sites to this to be done by the end of february 2016. and we are certainly saying we're not going to stop there. >> vision zero is a worldwide project which aims to achieve a highway system with no fatalities or serious injuries in road traffic. san francisco's plan calls for zero traffic deaths by 2024. just a heartbreaking story from the mother of a 16-year-old who's in critical condition right now after a beating that left him unconscious and in the street. she says her son is the victim of bullying. abc 7 news reporter alan wang is live from the berkeley police department with the story you will see only on abc 7 news. alan. >> reporter: dan and cheryl, the boy's mother says he's off life support, but he's still in critical condition with two serious skull fractures. she says this is a simple case of bullying by people her son knows. and some of them who were supposed to be his friends. now she can't understand why none of them have been charged with a crime yet. >> he has severe brain damage. >> reporter: amina robinson says her 16-year-old son was brutally attacked at the corner of ashby and may believe. berkeley police chased down and arrested six men for attempted murder. >> a lot of these kids i've seen, i know. they've spent the night at my house before. >> reporter: but after three days and no charges, the four adults ages 18 and 19 were released. police would not discuss what happened with the 15 and 17-year-old because they're minors. your son knows these guys who beat him up. >> he doesn't remember. >> reporter: the atmosphere was already primed with violence. police say there was a fight here at san pablo park shortly before the tension escalated two blocks away at ashby and may believe. robinson is afraid to identify her son. she says he went to a friend's house and witnessed the fight in the park then tried to walk away. >> he was asked to choose a side to be on. and he's like i'm not choosing a side because i'm not in this. i don't know, you know, what you want me to do. but i'm friends with everybody. >> the difficulty in cases like this is when you have multiple suspects you have to say who did what. >> reporter: apparently no one's talking. police say they're still under investigation. robinson says it shouldn't be this hard to get to the bottom of it. in berkeley, alan wang, abc 7 news. happening now in san francisco. a van is teetering over the edge of pier 33. take a look right there. oh, boy, the back tires are just feet away from the water. police got that call about an hour ago. the driver is out of the van and is okay. show you a live look from sky 7 hd. police have blocked off that area. a crew is getting ready to tow the van safely away from the edge of the pier. >> how it got in that position stadium during a 49ers game, but there is hope someone found that ring and just hasn't been able to return it to the owner yet. kris wen. >> reporter: a trip supposed to be memorable. at the 49ers game against the ravens to accept a check on the part of a charity group. it was warm that day. >> i took my rings off because i didn't want to get them just caked in sunscreen, so i set them down. >> reporter: after applying that sunscreen outside of gate f she went to grab her things atop a golf cart, but you guessed it she forgot about the rings not noticing until about 30 minutes later. mcgee rushed outside and said a 49ers game day staff member actually found her wedding ring in the street outside the gate. a momentary sigh of relief. >> i was just like, oh, my gosh, there's hope. like we found one of them. i wonder if we can find the other one. >> reporter: but it wasn't meant to be. no sign of her engagement ring. >> you cannot go back in time, so there's really nothing i can do other than what i've already done and what i'm doing now to try to find this. >> reporter: mcgee shared these surveillance photos to her network of friends on facebook saying she believes one of these men may have picked up the second ring. >> i'm hopeful we might actually find this person. again, they could have picked it up and what do i do with this. >> reporter: mcgee and her husband can't help tesla wants to check the front seat belts on all of those model s cars after a tesla owner in europe complained her belt suddenly unbuckled when she turned to speak with somebody in the backseat. tesla blamed a manufacturing defect. the recall effects 90,000 cars. en e. coli outbreak linked to chipotle restaurants has spread to six states including california. according to the centers for disease control two customers got sick after eating at two restaurants in turlock. the first cases reported in oregon and washington state. 45 customers have fallen ill from e. coli poisoning. none of the cases, we're glad to say, has been fatal. a billion dollar legal battle between big sugar processors and corn refiners settled out of court today. accusing corn of false advertising for claiming high fructose corn syrup was the same as sugar. countersuit said the sugar organization made claims that corn syrup was addictive as crack cocaine. two more states have delayed their commercial dun jen crab may be dangerous to eat. dangerous levels of toxins caused by a massive algae bloom as you know. well, today oregon delayed fishing along its entire coastline and washington delayed crab fishing along its central coast. earlier this month california canceled its november 15th start to the crab season. right now it is code red panda in eureka. a young panda escaped her zoo enclosure yesterday. she was spotted in a nearby neighborhood later in the day. zoo officials don't have any idea how she got over her fence. staffers are worried that she made her way into the sequoia park forest around the zoo, that would make it a lot harder to find her. so if somebody spots her they should avoid contact. call the authorities. we see landslides all the time in california, but one in los angeles county is really pretty remarkable. check this thing out. the picture on the left shows vas questions canyon road yesterday afternoon. photos on the right shows it just a couple of hours later. look at the difference. >> wow. >> santa clarita is northeast of los angeles. and this road is very popular with bike riders. at this point a 150-foot stretch has risen more than 15 feet in some spots. >> i think probably in time there was a fracture back behind these hills and water got underneath the street and slowly just pushed it out. >> well, drivers obviously shouldn't expect to be able to use the road for a while. crews say it is going to be closed for a long time for repairs. >> wow. well, the students at san mateo high school -- amazing pictures, aren't they? wow. well, we have another story for you in just a moment. we're going to be talking about the san mateo students -- the high school there hoping that this year's food drive one for the record books. abc 7 news dropped by san mateo high school today. their annual food drive runs until november 30th, so the students still have ten more days to top their own mark. that was 372,000 pounds collected back in 2005. and that was a guinness world record. so they should be proud of that. so all of those donations are going to benefit the samaritan house and second harvest food bank. >> that's good news. people are always generous. the weekend is upon us. let's see what the weather forecast looks like. >> whatever it's going to be it's going to be great, sandyha. >> it is going to be fabulous especially if you like today's weather. outside behind me crystal clear and very calm conditions here. there's no wind even. let me show you live doppler 7 hd and talk about how warm it got today and how we're going to see some major changes. we do have fog sitting near the coastline. visibility was extremely poor earlier. fog is starting to lift a bit, but it's still there. don't get me wrong. visibility is now seven miles in half moon bay as opposed to half a mile. some cities close to records 78 in santa rosa, clover dale, 70 san francisco, 74 oakland, antioch, 72 san jose and the fog held the temperature down to 66 in half moop bay. beautiful view from our mt. tam cam. our temperatures right now they're falling mid to upper 50s san francisco, oakland, if you're stepping out to go grab some dinner, catch a movie, take a jacket with you. 65 in san jose, 54 half-moon bay. lovely view from our lake tahoe camera. they are expecting snow. right now it looks like this next system coming in tuesday into wednesday will bring snow levels down below pass levels. so at the pass levels we're expecting 4 to 8 inches of snow. and lower snow levels possibly the coldest of the season so far down to 2,000 feet. santa rosa napa low 60s, currently 69 in livermore. san jose camera it is clear there. so sunny and mild this weekend. much colder next week. and there is a chance of showers here in the bay area on tuesday. so when you take a look at satellite and radar, we really have spring like warmth for the upcoming weekend. tuesday a cold system is coming in from the gulf of alaska. it's limited in moisture. so what it will bring to us is a chance of some light showers next tuesday. if you're doing some traveling right now it looks like wednesday is going to be just fine in terms of wet condition. we're not expecting it but the coldest air of the season so far expected as we head towards thursday when those temperatures are going to drop down to freezing in the morning. and in some areas even upper 20s. there are hints that we're going to be seeing some very cold conditions for thanksgiving morning. best chance of rain as you look at the next seven days will be on tuesday 40% chance for san francisco. we'll be watching for potentially another system later on next weekend. patches of valley fog in the short-term forecast when you get going for your early weekend morning plans. watch out for that fog both coast and valley. and tomorrow morning temperatures will start out in the comfort range low 40s to the mid-50s. afternoon highs will look like this. i think you can pull out the short sleeve weather. again, 74 for your afternoon in gilroy, 72 santa clara, 71 san jose. mi 69 in san mateo. 65 half-moon bay. beautiful day downtown san francisco, 68. 63 daly city. north bay mid-70s. santa rosa, napa, 71 san rafael, 72 novato, vallejo, 71 oakland, fremont, hercules. inland spots 71 in concord, walnut creek 72 in livermore. i want to give you a heads up. you know the mill valley area typically floods that parking lot there. king tides are coming up next week between tuesday and friday higher than normal tides above six feet. watch out especially if you are working prior to the holidays or getting away for the holidays and you're going to be in that vicinity. accuweather seven-day forecast it's mid-60s to mid-70s for the weekend. some fog in the night and morning hours. otherwise sunny and mild. cooling begins on monday. check out the forecast for tuesday. there's a chance of showers but a pretty sharp drop in temperatures. mid-50s to low 60s. and it's only getting colder wednesday, thanksgiving, friday staying cold for black friday shoppers. low to mid 50s. and those mornings are going to be freezing cold. so we'll be watching for those
