Some thrill rides across the country including one at the Santa Cruz Beach boardwalk will be inspected after a ride broke apart at the Ohio State Fair. One person was killed after part of the fireball ride split up and fell. A video posted by a witness shows the moment it happened. Several riders thrown into the air. Seven people got hurt. Three are listed in critical condition. Officials say the ride was inspected three to four times before it was given the all clear to operate at yesterdays opening day of the state fair. In other news, protests are building in the bay area against President Trumps plans to ban transgender people from serving in the military. One person was killed after the fireball ride broke apart midair last night. Dramatic video captured by a bystander shows the fireball ride swinging and spinning. And then it suddenly crashed into something and part of the ride broke off. Several of the riders were thrown into the air. Some of the victims landed on the hard asphalt. Seven people got taken to the hospital. Three are in critical condition. That ride swirls as high as 40 feet in the air and it rotates passengers 13 times in a minute. The ride goes really, really fast and goes in circles and rocks right to left. I heard a girl scream help and i look over and seen something fly out. And then i see this slap to the ground. Ohio Governor John Kasich called the accident the worst tragedy in the history of the fair and now hes looking for a full investigation. He ordered all rides shut down until safety inspections can be made. Now, that fireball ride may sound familiar. You may have even been on it. The ride is not exactly the same as the one in ohio, but theyre both manufactured by the same company in holland. Officials say independent inspections are done on the 100 rides at the state fair before it opens. They also do random spot inspections every day. However, after the incident in ohio, they just shut down their ride in sacramento. Not going to run until they tell us what happened in ohio and the factory tells us its okay to operate. San jose police are releasing new images in the hopes of solving a 2yearold cold case homicide. The burglars got inside the building from a window that was left open. A bay area Dog Rescue Club says the popular show game of thrones is leading to more dog surrenders. The Bay Area Siberian Husky Club says the breed is seeing a boom in popularity because of the show. The stark clan in the hit series is known for their connection to dire wolves, which look a lot like huskies. A angelica adopted a part husky and part pomeranian as a compromise because she knew she couldnt handle the commitment. I wanted to name her stark. The martinez shelter has seen a jump of 300 in huskies since game of thrones started.
