Academy of art is an egregious land use. He minced no words. Academy of art thumbed its nose at Building Code regulations for a decade. Set up a web of corporate affiliates to purchase and Lease Properties for the schools use, properties that could have been used for low income housing. We desperately need that housing in the midst of our Affordable Housing crisis. The academy has been the subject of two dozen planning hearing meatings. In Fremont Community members are stepping up to support the meals on Wheels Program after the delivery trucks vehicle was hijacked thursday. Two people are booked on multiple charges. Now the program is hoping to move forward. It is a bold act that left many people stunned. How awful is this to happen and to all the people who needed that food. In fremont two people tried to take a car from a woman at walnut plaza but were unsuccessful, following that attempt they ran to city hall and took a meals on wheels truck. I heard the screaming, turned around and chaos. Deborah was there and saw all of it. I have never seen anything like that. Having the truck be stolen like that is unthinkable, unbelievable the two suspects led officers on a pursuit from fremont to Castro Valley which not only ended in their arrest but major damage to the truck which is only a year and a half old. Program officials said it will likely be a total loss and are relying on a backup truck built in the 1980s. We have 380 people we have to serve every day and they count on our meals. We have to be here no matter what. The Fire Department will house the damaged truck until it can be assessed by the insurance adjuster.
