Three people were detained early this morning and now are being questioned following a manhunt tied to the shooting of a San Francisco Police Officer. Authorities say they spotted a white sedan connected with the shooting late last night when officers tried to pull the car over in the east bay, the driver took off, leading officers on a chase, spanning several bay area counties that. Pursuit ended around 12 30 this morning in san jose. Three people were taken into custody. They have not been identified. And this morning, we have audio of the call made by that San Francisco Police Officer who was wounded. Sky 7 hd shows the scene over the Mission District where he was shot and seriously injured yesterday. Abc 7 news obtained the dramatic 911 call made by the officer. Officer shot. Units in the area. 46. Shots in the area. 77 florida. That officer is out of surgery and recovering this morning. Abc 7 News Reporter nick smith has more from San Francisco General Hospital on what led up to yesterdays shooting. Reporter a complaint of a suspicious vehicle. When cops got to the 1400 block of florida street they found the car. Two officers approached it, one on the drivers side and the other on the passenger side. A witness asking not to be identified described what happened next. We were in the house and heard probably five or six shots and then we heard that a cop had been shot while, we think, pulling somebody over. Reporter the first shots fired came from the suspect vehicle. That then made a move to take off. The passenger officer saw the car backing up, fired upon the vehicle in defense of his partner, striking the vehicle at least one time. Reporter it wasnt immediately clear if the suspect was hit but he did get away. Sky 7 hd was over the scene as investigators continued their search from view. You can see handcuffs on the car and what appears to be a bullet hole in the trunk. The officer is identified at this time only as a 28yearold man and sixyear veteran of the police department. The second officer was not hit. Our cameras were there as the officers wife arrived at the emergency entrance. She was greeted by the doctor and several officers before she was quickly escorted inside. Nick smith, abc 7 news. An International Effort the is under way to locate a missing Malaysia Airlines plane with 239 people on board. That boeing 737 wide body jet disappeared on radar on a flight from kuala lumpur to beijing. Terrorism has not been ruled out. Counterterrorism organizations have been in contact about possible passport issues. N ntsb and fbi are ready to send agents to investigate if necessary. Investigators say a firefighter lied about the circumstances surrounding the death of a teenager run over and killed by a San Francisco Fire Department rig following the crash of an aseana Airlines Flight at sfo. San Francisco Chronicle says she claims her big rig did not run over the 15yearold, contradict video shown in helmet cam footage. She told police she could not have hit the victim because she saw the tarpcovered girl on the ground. However, investigators say camera footage shows a firefighter is seen placing a tarp on the girl after deckerts rig hit the girl on the ground. Her rig is one of two that hit the girl, investigators say. When a man was hit by a car. He died at the scene. Its not clear why he was on the freeway. Police say the car that hit him did stop. The driver is cooperating with investigator investigators. Police say it does not appear alcohol and drugs played a role. The freeway was shut down for several hours but has since reopened. Oakland police are investigating a hit and run that killed a mother of five. Felicia ward was near the intersection of 98th avenue and plymouth street yesterday morning when she was hit. Sky 7 hd video of the intersection where ward died. Her husband was seriously injured and is hospitalized. Police are now asking witnesses to come forward. A celebration of life will be held today for an offduty firefighter killed in a tractor accident. Police say tony nunez was driving a tractor on ranch land in unincorporated contra costa last month. Nunez was pinned beneath that tractor, worked for the berkeley Fire Department for 28 years. Sart moany celebrating his life will be held at noon at uc berkeley. Thieves in Sonoma County are targeting work trucks. Thieves have their eyes on ford trucks or vans like these at a plumbing company. 13 have been hit. Thieves take Company Trucks from employees driveways, drive them a short distance and leave them running. Many employees have had their personal tools stolen. I hope they get punished for what theyve done. Its affected a lot of people. My guys all have families to raise and mouths to feed. Its pretty tough. Police believe the thieves are stealing to satisfy their drug habits and speculate they may be using whats called a shaved key to start the engines. Pretty mild start to the day. Cloudy skies north of the north bay, you can see a chance of showers. Thats up by clear lake. Overall, were staying dry today. Showers push on through tonight through early tomorrow morning and then temperatures really warm the rest of the week. Starting out with very gusty winds monday into tuesday.
