Good news, while we were sleeping, we dropped nearly 2 feet. Were still above flood stage at 11. 8. Flood stage is at. Remember, this flows from south to north, all the way up to the 85 101 split and then theres a possibility from edan veil all the way up through milpitas of more flooding through at least 5 00 friday morning. Flood stage is 10 near edanville so the flooding will continue. Taking a look at the roads, obviously, the flooding is a major issue this morning. I want to show you where that closure is that amy was just talking about. Shes standing there along 101 where its totally flooded out around mckee. This is that closure where all traffic on the southbound side is being forced off. You can see the flashing lights and cones in the right lane so yeah, youre going to be forced to take 880 there if you are heading south on 101. Ill show you where this is on our traffic maps too. This purple that youre seeing is that full closure both northbound and southbound between 880 and the 280 680 split. Chp said it just depends on Mother Nature. People living in three Mobile Home Parks in san jose are keeping close eyes on a barrier wall this morning. Its keeping most of the water out. I say most because as you can see, water is coming through and under that wall, the at the 200unit park on oakland road, People Living at that park and two others nearby are under evacuation orders. 550 units in all. Last night, emergency crews rescued three people after they got trapped by the flood water. On the other side of the wall, theres about a foot or two of water and that water is coming through the seams and the holes in the bottom of the wall and filling up the back of the Mobile Home Park here. Its dry over there and my good friends live in the very back where its completely flooded and were having them stay with us for the night because, yeah, whatever we can do to help. Nice to see people helping out their neighbors. As matt explained, even with the mandatory evacuation order, police and fire cannot forcibly remove a person from their home and some people decide to stay. You are looking at the reason this all happened. Look at the water pouring from Anderson Reservoir. This is the largest reservoir in santa clara county. It reached capacity and began cascading over the spillway on saturday. Normally kept under 70 to meet state seismic restrictions. This is southeast of san jose. It feeds into coyote creek, which winds through san jose before reaching the bay. As soon as the widespread flooding hit san jose, there was really little time to think and only time to act. In the rock springs neighborhood, some people made it out on their own, and some needed rescue. Reporter some people were taken by boat. Others chose to wade through the water. One elderly woman even road piggyback on a firefighter. The water moved in so quickly, a man who moved his car to safety couldnt get back in time to reach his wife and child. Where are they now . Up in that apartment probably. Theyre trying to get out. Reporter they need to be rescued . Yeah. Reporter those who were moved to safety had to be decontaminated in the middle of the street. The city was worried about possible hazardous contaminants. I know we lost a lot of photos. I had a lot of my clothes down there from the winter that i like to store. I had my shoes and my babys toys. All of his stuff down there. Reporter one homeowner has seen floods before but never anything like this as water reached his roof. We werent sure how much water was going to come out and now just its just a lot more devastating than we thought. Reporter he recorded video showing his patio and picnic bench, its not just humans affected by the flooding. Sky7 shows these horses. Viewers were concerned about the horses well being, we talked to firefighters who said that the Property Owners opened the gates and let the horses run to higher ground. Evacuated neighbors have three places to go to help. You can see the map. May Fair Community center, Shirakawa Community Center and jakes lick high school. Abc7 news was at the high school as the red cross prepared for evacuees. This is the only shelter where people could spend the night. Some flood victims were brought in by bus and one man decided to go to the shelter. Im just here in the shelter for a while to make sure that, you know, hopefully everythings okay. I dont know. I mean, im just pretty shocked right now. The Salvation Army is helping stock the shelter with items evacuees may need like underwear and socks and people are also stopping to drop off donations. Police are warning that if more evacuations are necessary, you may only have minutes to get out. They say you should be ready to go by making sure all your family members are together or at least know where they are. You should also have your pets ready to leave and make sure you have essential items like medications and important paperwork like your i. D.
