Says its made the first arrest in connection with saturday nights take over robbery of a train by a mob of teens at the coliseum station in oakland. The agency says the person taken into custody is a male juvenile, and more arrest warrants are expected to be issued for additional suspects they have identified. About 40 to 60 teens hopped the fare gates at the coliseum station and got in a train. Rising crime rates mandate officers work overtime to provide extra patrol. An 18yearold man arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting and killing an elderly woman who was out for a morning walk in northern california. 18yearold they have inglenn butler of north high lands was already in custody on an unrelated elder abuse case when detectives took him into custody. The Sacramento Sheriffs Office accuses butler of attacking 86yearold and her 61yearold friend as the two walked around the high school track. Detectives say butler sexually assaulted them and beat them. She fought back with her Walking Stick allowing her friend to escape. Investigators say this apparently was a random attack. An employee at the boys and girls club in petaluma accused of offering up a 6yearold girl for sex was a rained in court this morning. Abc7 news caught benjamin leaving court in santa rosa. He posted a picture of the girl in an after School Program in an internet chat room for pedestrian files. He posted her address and phone number. Animal control officers who work for the Sheriffs Department have come back to the scene and theyve taken some evidence hoping to find out what happened. Reporter the Vallejo Police department has ruled out felony animal abuse due mostly to a lack of evidence. Critics say thats a problem. I dont understand it. Personally i dont understand it. It turns out she called the private number of an offduty officer. They didnt get the message for six weeks. In this case, had we got the call when she first contacted and reached out to us in february, there would have been the scene would have been better preserved and we would have been able to collect far more evidence. Sunny skies and breezy conditions across the bay area now. Windy in some spots, a wind advisory is in effect until 8 00 this evening for solano county. Winds will generally be out of the northwest at 15 to 30 miles per hour. But gusts may reach 40 to 45 miles per hour. There is a possibility of blowing debris and difficulty driving in those areas affected by the wind. Right now we have gusts around the bay area generally from 20 to 30 miles per hour. So the breezy conditions take us into the evening under blue skies. We look at the bay from mount tam. Currently 65 degrees in San Francisco. 70 in oakland, a cool 57 at half moon bay. Its actually the great highway along ocean beach, walkers and cyclists are taking advantage of the carfree road. Its not by design. The wind sent sand onto the traffic lanes so. Lanes were close in both directions. No word yet on when it will reopen. Meanwhile howelling winds causing huge problems all across southern california. Take a look here. Trees fell all across Los Angeles County overnight. Brought down by just ferocious gusts. Trees came down in sun valley, van nuys, and other parts of the san fernando valley. Some of them even crushing cars. A large sink hole could pose big problems for drivers at the Point Reyes National sea shore. Take a look at photos taken by the marin county Sheriffs Office. The sink hole is west of inverness. One lane is closed and the Sheriffs Office warns it may be closed through the weekend. The storm damage is worse than first thought. Alameda county tells abc7 news the road wont open next week after all. The road runs between 580 near Castro Valley and niles canyon and debris is still coming off a steep canyon wall. We have now learned the road likely wont open until sometime in june. Farther north, redwood rose is also closed on the north side of Castro Valley. The ground hasnt stopped moving there as well. The team now expects redwood road to remain closed until at least september. A test train of barts fleet of the future broke down overnight at the lake merritt station causing long delays that lasted into the morning commute. Sky 7 shows you a fourcar train was there after it was towed to Barts Hayward shopsz. An Agency Spokesperson says the railcars are tested knightley when the system is closed. The agency is still trying to figure out exactly why. This is why we do the testing in the overnight hours. We want to make sure that when we are ready to run the trains with passengers, that every reliability issue has been worked out. There is some good news for bart riders. The new station in milpitas and the station . San jose are on track to open by december which happens to be six months ahead of schedule. These two stations will expand barts service into silicon valley. Muni is just about done with the first round of road tests for its new fleet of light rail vehicles. For the past few weeks the agency has been testing these brandnew railcars overnight on the muni metro line between balboa park station and randall street. The test will end sunday. The new railcars are manufactured by the Siemens Company out of sacramento factory and will replace munis fleet cars.
