Wayne freedman joins us from johnsons peabeach in guernevill with a live report. Hi, wayne. Reporter well, a good, wet afternoon to you. Behind me is the Russian River as it flows through guerneville. Right now its at a lower level than usual, which is surprising considering the amount of rain that weve had here today. So far day one of this storm has been blissfully bereft of any major breaking news. Thats the good news. But we did put a lot of miles on our news van today. Welcome to the wet country and umbrella land. Anywhere north of the Golden Gate Bridge, we lived in it today, though mostly without major problems. Ive been here too long to worry about it. Reporter but with backtobacktobacktoback storms the cones are out in already familiar places. The Russian River is a worry zone. Its not high but residents know what to expect, especially in places like a Mobile Home Park in forestville. Laura has lived here since she was 7 years old. Shes not worried yet. Its a playbyplay. We just kind of go with the flow. Literally. Literally. Reporter and as we come back live and look at the flow of the Russian River, as we come back live and look at the flow of the Russian River again, the big concern right now is not for now but maybe for this time next week. Sonoma county water officials told me that right now the river is flowing at roughly 200 cubic feet per second, which might sound like a lot. Flood stage is more than 1200 or 1500 feet per second. Thats where they begin to worry. Were not there yet, but next week where im standing conceivably if we have backtobacktobacktoback storms, this could be under water. Wayne freedman, abc 7 news. Thank you, wayne. The streets were wet and drivers needed their wipers off and on all morning, but the steady rain really didnt start coming down in oakland until around noon today. I saved the hat because i didnt want water damage on the hat. Whatever works. Famous wayne expects to be off all week. He tells us nobody gets their shoes shined in the rain. Famous wayne should be marketing that hat actually. Abc 7 news was at walnut creeks heather farm park.
