Still emotionallycharged here in the atmosphere all over dallas and as well around the country. Dallas Police Detectives have this interesting balance between continuing with this investigation, pouring over hours and hours of dash camera and body camera video, as well as honoring their fallen brothers. Theyve had memorials throughout the day with the candlelight vigil scheduled for later this evening. At the Dallas Police department, a moment of silence for the fallen. Dozens of Police Academy cadets who will one day put their lives on the line paying their respects. The Investigation Continues into the deadly mass shooting and so do the threats to law enforcement. We are all on edge. We are. And were being very careful. Reporter Dallas Police chief david brown said the sniper who took the lives of five Police Officers at a black lives matter protest was planning a much bigger attack but moved up his attack because of the killing of two black men. The stockpile of bombmaking materials found in his home is concerning. This person had some dellusion. And this person was committed to killing officers zblrvelg the army vet took selfdefense sources and did tactical drills at home before the thursday night shooting. After the twohour standoff taunting officers, police sent a robot with a bomb to kill him. For the first time his parents speaking out in an interview with the blaze. I dont know what to say to make anything any better. I didnt see it coming. Reporter dr. Brian williams is one of the doctors that worked to save the lives of Police Officers that night. I abhor what has been done to these officers and grieve with their families. And the doctors saying it is not law enforcements fault and we do need to open up about race relations. What is the mood in dallas right now . Reporter well ive been able to talk some of the folks here. I think one of the biggest acknowledgments is that people here really have always honored those in uniform. Whether it is firefighters or Police Officers. And to have this happen here has been a real shock to the community. This is unlike anything theyve ever seen before. And so for many people here, they are stunned. Draymond green was arrested around 2 00 on sunday morning after an altercation with a man outside of a restaurant in east lansing, michigan. He is from lansing. This is video from tmz. Words were exchanged between green and the other man that green slapped or punched but there were no serious injuries. Green was booked on misdemeanor Assault Charges and released on 200 bail. The warriors issued a statement saying they are in the process of gathering more information about the situation. It is unclear right now how this may or may not impact his status on the Olympic Basketball Team when they start practice a couple of days from the arraignment. But green needs to exercise more selfcontrol. This is not a big deal because nobody was hurt and there were no weapons involved. But dreymond has to understand, he is a celebrity, you cannot put your hands on people. Even if it is a slap or how much you are taunted. This is the second off the court issue with dreymond this year. Remember when he posted video of him driving 118 miles per hour. It is unlikely this will result in jail time but it needs to be a wakeup call for him to grow up and mature. He is a young and volatile guy and part of the reason his personality that is the reason he is successful in the nba and land the 82 Million Contract with golden state but he needs to keep the emotions under control. He lost control in the nba finals, right here the situation with the slap on lebron james. He was suspended for game five and may have cost his team a championship. And the conditions are pretty stale across the bay area. Lets look at live doppler 7 hd. And youll see what im describing. Sunny skies with a few areas of patchy coastal fog. And here we go with a look at 24hour temperature change. This is a mixed bag. Many locations right around the bay and on the coast that are about five degrees cooler than they were at this time yesterday. But we have some inland areas that are six to eight degrees warmer than they were at this time yesterday. On we go to a live view from the emeryville camera showing the growing bank of low clouds along part of the coastline. 63 in San Francisco. Low 70s in oakland and mountain view. 80 in san jose. 90 at morgan hill and 57 at half moon bay. This is the view from sutro tower. Mid80s in santa rosa and upper 80s in fairfield and livermore and looking at the golden gate, this is the forecast with mainly clear skies except for a few patches of fog at the coast and tomorrow morning sunny skies and bright in the afternoon with highs up in the low 90s in the warmest inland locations. Ill show you what is in store in the week ahead in a few minutes. Spencer, thank you. Well standoff on a transit bus outside of los angeles is now over. Sheriffs deputies say a man was, quote, going in and out of consciousness aboard the bus in santa [ inaudible ] his father and brother and sisterinlaw tried to save him. Family members tried to get him back on to the raft and somehow they also ended up in the water. Dont know if they fell off or if they went in voluntarily. But the other three also were not strong swimmers. The father also never made it back on the raft. The other two did. Emergency crews immediately responded to the shadow cliffs recreation area. However it was too late. The rescue mission turned into a recovery operation. This morning divers suited up and slowly made their way across the lake. Around 10 00, both bodies were brought to shore. They were found very close to one another and according to our investigation last night, pretty close to where they were last seen. Reporter while officials have not released the name of the victims, some of the family is local. Lieutenant rhodes said this could have been avoided. They were not wearing life jackets and they are not strong swimmers and did not have any life jackets on board either. At this point in the investigation, police do not believe that foul play or alcohol played a factor in the accident. In pleasant ton, tiffany wilson, abc 7 news. A stolen car turned the morning commute into a nightmare for cal train riders this morning. Around 5 30 a. M. A southbound train struck a vehicle on the tracks north of broadway and burlingame and nobody injured but that forced trains to stop in both directions and it took an hour and a half to remove the car. Police say the car was reported stolen out of san mateo. The cause of a fire at a recycling plant is under investigation this afternoon. It began at valley recycling on south 7th street. This is video of the scene from the fire department. It took crews about 45 minutes to contain the fire. On a twoalarm brush fire out near fairfield along highway 12 near red top. That is next to the highway. Traffic was really slow there earlier this morning because of smoke. It is a recordbreaking day on wall street. The s p 500 closed at 2127, a record high. That beats the market set is last set in may of 2015. The dow closed up 80 and the nasdaq was up nearly 32 points. Tesla stock went up today after a rather cryptic tweet from founder elon musk. Shares of the Palo Alto Based company were up 4. 5 after musks tweet over the weekend and in the message he said the company is working on top secret tesla master plan, part two, hoping to publish later this week. Nobody knows what that means. But musk doesnt say what hes referring to in the message there. The tweet is similar to a blog from a decade ago just before tesla introduced the model s. And model 3. The changes coming to a one of four suspects was arraigned in court today in Solano County for the kidnapping of a vallejo woman. The ringleader is being held on a Million Dollars bail. Abc 7 News Reporter Leslie Brinkley joins us live from the courthouse in fairfield. Reporter i went by the jail to try to interview all four suspects. They all declined. A few hours later two of them actually appeared in a courtroom here. Prosecutors say the motive for the kidnapping was all about money. The 26yearold was charged with kidnapping for ransom in connection with a mysterious disappearance of this vallejo woman. He pleaded not guilty. Kidnapping for ransom is a more significant crime as far as punishment because it is subject to life imprisonment as opposed to regular kidnapping without ransom. How much ransom were they asking for . 60,000. The woman was last seen on june 29th when a coworker dropped her off at this store in vallejo. Her son got a text message the next day threatening to kill her if a ransom wasnt made. Her son found her dog dead inside with no signs of forced entry. Four suspects were arrested in sacramento and fairfield. Larry young appeared in court but his arraignment on a kidnapping for ransom charge was postponed until tuesday when the other two suspects will also appear in court. Bail is set at 1 million. Investigators are still wrapping up the case. But obviously the focus, which is always the focus of the case, is locating the victim. Reporter the suspects are not cooperating and investigators hope that she is still alive. In fairfield, im Leslie Brinkley, abc 7 news. This wednesday cal trans plans to unveil the i95 smart corridor contract. They have been in the testing phase from the bridge. The signs could change the speed limit based on conditions and alert drivers to lane closures and crashes ahead. This is animation of what the project will look like. It will be activated in stages so drivers could get used to them. By labor day 44 onramps have will metering lights and the goal is to limit the flow of traffic based on congestion. Pokemon go is the hot new game app that has everyone running around trying to catch pokemon but it is not all fun and games. The Fremont Police department sent out a tweet asking gamers not to enter the lobby of Police Department in search of pokemon and other bay area Police Departments are concerned for your safety after several reports of robberies while people are playing. Amy hollyfield has the warning. Reporter if you had to dodge people looking at their phones during your daily routine, there is a good chance they were playing pokemon go. Well i was actually on the way to starbucks and i was just opening my fun to play some pokemon. And yeah, i caught i just caught like two pokemon on the way here. Reporter even the commute has turned into a playground. My boyfriend played some pokemon go on b. A. R. T. On his way to work and he picked up maybe ten or so different pokemon and a lot more different ones than ive been able to find so im a lel jealous. Reporter pokemon go is a new powerball game app and created by a San Francisco company and the number one downloaded free app. It is like a scavenger hunt. You have to walk to places to catch pokemon. And one benefit people are noticing is players are getting some exercise rather than sitting at home playing. Ive been meeting my daily walking goal a lot more since playing pokemon go. Reporter but there are concerns too. Three men in missouri are accused of robbing people. Here at home Concord Police noticed people in the park playing the game and not paying attention. There was a case friday where someone was wandering on the street to i guess get one of the creatures in the pokemon game. Reporter so they put up a warning on facebook encouraging safe play time. They have a criminal who is looking for a cell phone or an ipad quickly that could grab their electronic and take off. So we want to let the public know that these type of things happen. Reporter the Concord Police station is a pokemon stop on the game and officers enjoy seeing people stopping by here to visit but they do want to encourage players to stick to public locations like this or a park. If you know what i mean. Pock mon means pocket monsters and they first debuted as a video game 20 years ago. This spawned a tv show and Trading Cards and a lot of merchandise. Pokemon go uses your phone gps to guide you to where a virtual pokemon lurk in real world locations. Obviously people arent really there or the items arent really there and you see them through the app and once you find the pokemon it is your job to throw a ball with the right force and the right timing to make a catch. Veteran pokemon players say you dont need any previous experience to excel at pokemon go. You just need to have a phone. There you go. There is a lot of stuff going on with pokemon. Well what is going on with our weather . Spencer christian has looked away from his pokemon game for just a moment. Were not playing any games here. This is serious business. The weather is looking really nice and summerlike. Here is a live look at doppler 7 hd. Sunny skies across the bay area with just a few areas of coastal low clouds. In fact ill take you down to almost almost to bay level. And you could see that north of the golden gate, coast is clear. But south of the golden gate, we have low clouds forming. This is the view from the rooftop here at abc looking over the bay under the blue skies the forecast features, patchy coastal fog overnight. Mild to warm tomorrow but heating up in our inland areas wednesday through friday. Low temperatures tonight will be mainly in the mid to upper 50s. Pretty mild. Cooler near the coast and in the north bay valleys. And as i mentioned earlier, some areas of coastal low clouds will develop overnight. Here is our forecast animation. At 7 00 it evening, notice the clouds brushing the coastline overnight and into early tomorrow morning. Maybe a light patch of thin clouds drifting across the bay but clear inland and by afternoon tomorrow and into the evening, sunny skies and almost no coastal clouds by midday from midday into the evening hours. Highs tomorrow will range from low 60s at the coast to mid70s, near 80 in the mildest locations. Inland areas highs in the upper 80s. Mid to upper 80s. 86 at santa rosa. 87 in morgan hill. And teams in the low 90s around antioch. And if you are thinking about going to the beach tomorrow, it will be a pretty good beach day. Warmest location will be santa cruz with the high of 79 degrees. Other beaches will have highs in the low to mid60s. And well see clouds in the morning but mainly sunny skies in the afternoon and it will have a very high uv index tomorrow so bare that in mind. A good idea to put on a lot of sunscreen. Here is the accuweather sevenday forecast. Wednesday, thursday and friday, highs in the mid to upper 90s. Low to mid80s around the bay and mid60s on the coast. And then a cooler pattern on saturday and by sunday and monday breezy and mild conditions with inland highs reaching into the mid80s. Upper 70s around the bay. This is video only on abc 7 news. Oh, my god look at that. That is lorenza snyder man paddling on sunday yards from the whales. They spotted a swarm of birds so they expected to see whales but not such a treat. We saw them on occasion, three at once, coming up from the bottom like a poll aeris missile with their mouths open to capture the water. Weve never seen this behavior before in the bay. You could watch this over and over again. Look at that. That is amazing. It is indeed a rare sight. And it went on for 45 minutes. Whales do this lunge feeding in colder waters farther north. Experts tell abc 7 news the whales are probably feasting on herring in the bay. Remarkable. It is turning out to be a recordsetting year at the box
