The pilot was able to alert air Traffic Controllers that he was in distress. It is difficult for the friends and neighbors to acknowledge all five members of the price family perished. Friends identify them as jason and olga price and their three children. Their home is decorated for the holidays. They were often seen together tending to the yard. They were a lovely couple. Reporter this is a case where even the officers attorneys say they arent celebrating their Court Victory because of their clients misconduct, but they add thats not what this case is about. Its about the statute of limitations, pure and simple. Judge earnest goldsmith ruled that the San Francisco Police Department waited too long to discipline the seven officers accused of exchanging racist and homophobic Text Messages with former sergeant ian furminger. He was convicted of public corruption late last year. San franciscos internal Affairs Investigators received the offensive texts from the u. S. Attorney two years before, but they say a court order prevented them from divulging the texts because it could jeopardize the prosecution of furminger. So they waited until early this year when the federal case ended to divulge the texts to chief greg suhr. Thats when suhr began proceedings to fire the officers. But the judge says the officers bill of rights clearly states that the statute of limitations for Police Investigations is one year. Attorney allison berrywilkinson represents one of the officers. What happens now is the department cannot take any action against these officers for the exchange of Text Messages that occurred in 2011 and 2012. Reporter deputy City Attorney kenneth walsack, representing the department, says the denttive ruling which became final today will jeopardize future investigations. The courts tentative ruling failed to take into account the necessity of Police Cooperation with outside federal criminal investigations. A San Francisco Police Recruit saved the life of a baby who had stopped breathing. This happened at the bayfair mall parking lot in san leandro a little over a week ago. Ricky williams was shopping when he saw a mother crying hysterically. Officer williams said she had a lifeless baby in her arms. The mother told williams her 2monthold son had stopped breathing. Williams started cpr chest compressions while the mother br breathed into the boys mouth. Then suddenly the baby started breathing and crying. I knew nothing else but what i was taught at that moment. I couldnt freak out. I was like numb, just kind of focused. Im just glad that i acted accordingly and i did what it is that i signed up to do, and thats to help people out. This morning agencies voiced their support for a bill that would make it mandatory to use ignition lock devices statewide. Suspending a drivers license isnt enough. 70 of the drunk driving offenders continue driving after their license was suspended. Authorities are also promoting use of the safer ride mobile app. It was developed by the national highway Traffic Safety administration.
