Now residents here are coming together to clean up the broken glass and debris, trying to help local businesses get back on their feet. We saw people coming together to reclaim our city to clean our city and to help heal our city. I think this can be our defining moment and not the darket day that we saw yesterday. Maryland governor larry hogan walked through some of the hardest hit areas and promised things will be different tonight. Criminal activity will not be tolerated. Reporter he said what happened in baltimore was not a protest. When individuals get crowbars and start prying open doors to loot, theyre not protesting. Reporter Officials Say overnight there were 144 vehicle fires, 15 structure fires around 500 maryland National Guardsmen are supporting Law Enforcement officials in baltimore. That number will increase to 2 thousand. Today parts of baltimore are shut down and city schools and the National Aquarium closed. The orioles canceled their second home game in a row. The weekend home series against the Tampa Bay Rays is being moved to st. Petersburg florida. There is concern in oakland this afternoon that protesters will return there tonight. About a hundred protesters marched in solidarity last night. Activists handed out flyers in the Castro District inviting people attending the event. Those at the center of this issue for years cant believe this day is finally here. My heart is beating so fast. Reporter since this disaster there is a few social Media Companies that have launched new tools to help people who were there check in with their families here and 21yearold Spencer Dickinson has not checked in with his family, so they are launching a social Media Campaign of their own to try to find him. The last time 21yearold Spencer Dickinsons family heard from him was a few days before the earthquake. He spoke with his mother and he was in a village that i guess is the beginning to the trekking route of the base camp of everest. Reporter hes got a parents intuition that spencer is arrive and hes hoping that somehow they make contact again. Today with social media theres a new kind of access than weve had before, and were hoping that for instance me being here that somebody may have a connection with somebody down there in that area. Dickinson says he would fly to nepal to look for his son. He knows the country is badly damaged by the quake and ongoing aftershocks. Meanwhile, some bay area residents are finally on their way home. One is a survivor of this massive avalanche on mt. Everest triggered by this weekends quake. He had the unfortunate job of loading the casualties on to the helicopter and then he and his buddies were able to get off the mountain by helicopter. Her husband john raider spent a few days on mt. Everest helping clear anyone out. He survived the deadly avalanche and this was his third attempt to scale mt. Everest. His mother upon anyexpects him to return again. He told me he was going back and he said are you surprised . I said, no im not surprised and now he is in kathmandu and has described just how much damage the capital city and the rest of nepal has endured from this earthquake.
